co2 oil

What are the benefits of using co2 over butane?

Would love to know also. I have smoked oil produced on an apeks 5l system. I can't really say I enjoyed the flavor as much as bho we've made. Granted I've only ever tried one co2 sample.

I checked out eden labs.. sweet stuff they have, but kinda pricey starting at 49 500dollars.. Any good words on why it's worth it, compared to buying a tamisium for example..

have you compared the return winterized with a bho run winterized to see if the CO2 is a stronger/better solvent than butane?

thanks so much for showing off the machine. how much do those things process per batch?

super looking setup! K+

CO2 doesn't pull quite as much, and we can typically see approximately 5% left in the material, that we later process with butane. However, I think CO2 pulls the minor cannabinoids at least as well, or better. We see bigger %s of CBG, CBC, THCV coming out of the CO2 extractor.

Our "small" extractor processes approximately 2.5lbs at a time, and the larger one can hold up to 10 lbs.

This, plus the guys saying it makes for "tastier" oil ?

Reading what Sam Skunkman is saying about his opinion that some or all Terpenes add to the overall high, Dybert saying it pulls "less, but more" ... It seems that CO2 extractions, despite the hassle and cost, may make the best extract of all ?

Thanks for all your input Dybert, GW and others

I have never heard that co2 makes a tastier concentrate, everything I have heard/read is the opposite.

Most production CO2 oil doesn't taste as good as good BHO, I'll give you that. But advances are being made, and tasty CO2 extracts are available.

butane vs Co2

butane vs Co2

I was under the impression that Co2 has the potential to be better than Butane oil IF the system is dialed in and the operator knows how to use it.For example using different pressures for targeting specific cannabinoids as well as using co solvents. Overall making it more versatile and giving you the option to target the cannabinoids you are after.

Also being widely accepted and approved for medical/pharmaceutical extractions is another plus IMO....

Thats what Ive gathered from all the co2 Ive heard and read about, someone correct me if Im wrong please..

BTW awesome lab Dybert, please share some more pics :)

Note to all, don't spill cappuccino on keyboard. Now a new keyboard, that even still has letters on the keys.

Using the loaner DIY SCFE CO2 extractor from JYNdustriez, we've been able to extract good aromatics at sub critical pressures, and do extractions up to 4200 psi. A relatively cheeeeep way to get ones feet wet with SCFE CO2 and you can find more details at http://www.youtube.com/user/JyIndustries.

What appears to be the best course at this point, is use a dual extraction and recombine them later. We plan to experiment with using both CO2 for both, and starting with CO2 and finishing with butane or propane.

We have another bench top loner unit from Apek's arriving early February, and our plan is to do the follow through using that more operator friendly, but considerably more expensive equipment. More once we've done that.
