Old School's Sanctuary

Yeah, I post a lot.

Yeah, I post a lot.

It's my thread though... so that's alright. :dance013:

I like to keep it interesting even while I wait on the plant's arrival. Here is myself and the lonely veg cab, eager to be filled with clones. I'm smoking some more of that Purple OG from the club near my house. Real heavy stuff.

I used to root my clones with a homemade bubble cloner, then I switched to root riots after losing a few, I didn't know at the time that plants grew two types of roots. haven't lost a clone since.

Nice work OldSchool. Plans look good. I think building grow rooms is almost as fun as growing the plants... almost :)

- 6" Hood (suggestions?)

I haven't bought a reflector in a few years, so I can't comment on the newer magnum, raptor, or og style hoods. I have always used blockbuster hoods for nice square spaces and super sun 2s when I have more of a rectangle.

I have been thinking of using parabolic reflectors and bare bulbs in my next room design. So many options...

Loving the input. My first grow was a 1000 watt in a cool tube with a reflector and it worked decent. I'm thinking the sun 2s is what I will look into. Need a rectangular footprint.

Grow room construction isn't really my thing, growing plants is :dance013:

So I saw that you posted the clone list from Mercy Wellness, which are you going to grab? It's my birthday so I will be there grabbing some Bay 11 and Candyland today. It would be cool to see how it looks grown in different environment. Also going to Peace in Medicine for those BOG beans.

Happy Birthday bro! I think I'm going to grab a couple of each and see what they do. I have never run anything from GDP Genetics before, so I'm not really sure how they compare to other stuff I have flowered. I guess there's only one way to find out. :)

Thanks bud. Yeah I'm with you, going to grab some Bay 11 and Candyland. What quarantine method will you be using? I'm trying to experiment with different dunks and such. Mercy also sells packs of King Klone seeds.. I don't know about them though..

Little babies!

Little babies!

My seedlings have all popped and I just finished putting them in soil. The soil is a mix of Happy Frog, FFOF and Big n Chunky perelite. I would've used just Happy Frog if I had enough of it on hand.

I feed the ladies with my water at a ph of 5.5, this time with a little SuperThrive in it for the B1. Glad to have some new genetics rocking! Really excited for both of these strains.

What quarantine method will you be using? I'm trying to experiment with different dunks and such.

I always wash them under the faucet immediately after bringing them to the house. I will do a root drench with an imid product immediately after the rinse if I am going to veg them for more than a week.

I start a batch of tea at the same time and let the new babies soak up the imid water overnight and into the next day. The following day I will transplant the clones into pots and water them in thoroughly with a full strength tea. I also spray with tea once a week throughout veg.

This has worked for me for a couple years with no problems until this last round. I need to find something to spray (or preferably dunk) that will keep them healthy through flower. I'm interested to see what results you get with neem, etc. Good luck!

OSG, looking good!

Couple things that came to mind getting caught up on the thread -

Any plan for supporting the middle of the tables? Seems to me that over time, and especially if they get wet, that they would sag under the weight. Perhaps 2x4s from horse to horse and possibly a 3rd spanning the center.

How are you sealing the window banger? A box with light baffles, painted flat black inside?

Bugs. Like testy, I use an Imid soak in all my pots even though my plants haven't come from anywhere else. I mix DE into my soil too. Best way to combat bugs is a preemptive strike. IMO the weak points are the ac and the intakes (besides what might come in the bags of soil or on the clones). I want to cover my intake (mostly for dust) and I was going to use cheese cloth or nylons stretched over it. But last night I got to thinking how well no-see-um bug screening for tents might work. I think my local bulk fabric shop has some - at least they did while I was designing an ultralight backpacking tent.

Like I said, just some thoughts.

And Happy Bday!

Thanks for all of the advice wildgrow!

The Tables - I definitely thought about the middle support while buying the materials and making my tables. I went with some super tough plywood with hopes that the table would not bend or sag. They will all be lined with a panda liner so getting them wet shouldn't be a huge issue. If I put 10 plants on the table and they seem suspect then I will go grab another sawhorse for additional support. I will look into the 2x4's if I need more. Thanks

The A/C - I've been actively trying to figure it out. I posted a thread and got advised to remove the casing of it, paint everything flat black, and then use black caulking for the leaks on the sides and underneath. However this doesn't completely seal it... So I am going to need to design some sort of box, like you were saying (any ideas). For now I can seal the whole thing manually during lights off if I need to.

Bugs - I am definitely trying to relax with the bug prevention. It's just really a nightmare of mine (infestation). Thanks for the tips on quarantining and dunking. I too am looking for a mesh to put on the intake to my veg. The intakes in my bloom room will be equipped with Hepa filters.

Thanks, again, for stopping by. Stay tuned! Going to buy BOG seeds now. And thanks for the "Happy Birthday" !

Ok, heres a cut-away of the concept in a nutshell.

picture.php

Not to scale. The blue rectangle is the ac faceplate. Just be sure that the edge of the shelf hangs over the edge of the next shelf down. Paint the inside black. Airflow will be restricted, so take that into account. Don't see why it couldn't be boosted with a couple pc fans though.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Simple and efficient. Thanks a lot for taking the time out of your day to draw this up. I'm looking into this!! :dance013:

No BOG seeds! WTF

No BOG seeds! WTF

I'm pretty frustrated because I've constantly been checking the menu at Peace in Medicine with my eyes on a pack of Sweet and Sour Cindy seeds. They said they were fully stocked on the website. It says "In store available today:" Anyways they were completely out of all genetics, no seeds at all.

So I went to grab a couple clones. I was going to grab one Bay-11 and one Candyland but the Bay-11 tray didn't have very appealing roots. None of the roots were AMAZING but some were good. I ended up grabbing 2 Candylands.

The genetics are GDP x Platinum Cookies (fingers crossed, haha)

Going to make a few quarantine moves (after washing them off immediately after bringing them home)...

1. Full dunk in Ohrstrom's Maxicrop Liquid Seaweed (plus iron) mixed at 1 ounce per gallon.

2. Root soak with the same mixture

3. Spray with neem (maybe tonight)

4. Water/h2o2 mixture (tomorrow morning)

5. Then begin with Maxicrop again

Any suggestions?

Does anybody use it?

Your input is appreciated. I am reading up on it later tonight, the bottle was cheap so I grabbed it.

Check out this OG and Sour I got as a B-day gift!!

Nice gifts for sure! Ive been itching for some Bog myself - Sour Lifesaver specifically. The man himself said there are some particularly potent phenos to be found in there.

No sweat with that drawing. Took all of 5 minutes to draw and upload. You can find some great examples from some of the cab growers. Heres a great example:

Thanks for the link !

I met BOG in mid-December, great guy. He got me on this hunt for the Sweet and Sour Cindy seeds. He had all of his strains being sold at bulk seed prices but I had zero idea I was going to see him so I didn't prepare financially. I met Arjan, Franco, Subcool and DJ Short as well all at the Emerald Cup 2013 :dance013: Thanks for sticking around.
