Most potent strains

That's why you keep a Male and make F2s. Herp Derp. Or you use some CS and make some S1s!!!! Then you have fem beans! Then your seeds never run out. What a concept!

If you think F2 from an unselected male and/or S1 guarantee you get your strain back then you have a lot to learn about genetic. You should stock up on some Cali Conn GSC or Green House SSH if you wanna see how awesome F2 and S1 rip offs are

Also, none of my personal friends grow for anything but profit. Why would I let them sell the same thing I provide to dispensaries?

So....you have no love for the plant or people just money. Now it all makes sense.

PS...Thanks for ruining a pretty good thread

no one debates that you can find gems in seeds. clones are obviously much more convenient. for example I like bbg but good luck finding one in seed form that lives up to expectations! in that case a clone which already fits the criteria is a better bet.

there is also nothing wrong with keeping your cuts to yourself but then if everyone did that you wouldn't ever try the gg4 either nor would many breeders who you buy seeds from have genetics to work with in the first place! so there is a lot to be said for spreading the goodness...
But some people share, some don't. its no biggie. its not a crime. your just one of those people who don't wanna share what they have. but you cant expect people to agree when they feel like spreading good genetics is a positive thing.

Well put. I accidentally clicked not helpful and can't undo it. Sorry.

To me the crime is when a breeder happens to have something old and rare that was not theirs to start with and hides it.

I mistakenly thought thats what ndnguy was doing but later realize he has the PERFECT attitude and is doing EXACTLY what I wish more growers and breeders would do. Preserve, Protect, Pass it on!

Is this the plant Shanti claims to be the most influential cross in history...Nl5 x Haze
I remember back in the early 80's (82?) when High Times did an article about Nevil's seed bank (King of cannabis article) and the description for NL#5 was "if anyone can find a plant more resenous than this, I'd like to see it."
So maybe he has a point. 1982 was the time when seeds from around the world really started making an impact to people who could not get them from there local supplier of cannabis. Seed banks started rocking genetics most people could only dream about. Sure they might have been available a few years before this but not without traveling to said country to obtain them yourself.
Hope that helps.

There is more and more grower who grow strictly for profit you can't expect from these people to share the same passion than a grower who id doing it for the love of the art before profit, but not excluding profit.
Being passionate i like to share the treasure i happen to find sometimes hidden in the seeds and i'm glad to share the cuts with my friends. If you share your cuts you can be sure to get back all you give in a way or another.

G`day Bioguy

The one Shanti is talking [NL#5 x Hz C] about is its half sister .
Both had the NL #5 Momma . But different Daddies .
The one Sammy`s talkin about [NL#5 x Hz A ] never went out as commercial seed .
Clones of NL5 Hz x both A and C versions, G13 Hz A , HP Hz C and Nevil`s Hz selected from big green house selection runs ,have circulated Southern Holland for more than 20 years .

I was lucky enough to spend a few weeks hangin out in the EU with some growers who`ve been at the Haze caper a long time . Sampled all the old cuts and the new crosses they are making . Sublime ...

Thanks for sharin

EB .

Well said.

I will admit I DO grow for money. I won't lie. But I have a tremendous love for this plants evidenced by the fact that I sell TOP self for dirt cheap (and give away at least an ounce a month)

My favorite part of growing is being able to give my friends fire at a great price and know we will never go a week without again...like in the old days!

As far as trading cuts I think its fair to point out that almost all growers who give out cuts ask for something in return...cash, another cut, seeds...whatever. So its not like I expect people to put their mom on a street corner for free.

My real point is anyone can find a keeper in seeds but if you have a support group you will benefit from every ones work. It will get you farther faster. 10 people can find a keeper WAY faster than 1.

One of the reasons I sprout so many seeds is I have still yet to contribute a cut to my crew. They think I did... but really I just middle manned it from one crew to another. When I find a keeper from seed or source a really rare cut I will feel like I have earned all the help they gave me (20+ strains, money, equipment, info, connections etc).

In the last year or two my crew has been doing what we call "system swaps". Thats where we all exchange cuts and test if they do better in someone else's system. Now we can exchange product and I think we have all benefited.

For instance MY SLH would not yield in soil, my bro's Mr Nice would not yield in hydro (or purple). We swapped cuts, now we swap the first lb. When its done we are both up 1/4 - 1/2 lb per tray and have an extra strain.

Basically, we stopped growing it and our yields went from UP. Try doing that without friends...lol

You're retarded. That's all I need to say to you.

I have more love for the plant than you think, bud. I'm a medical patient first, and a provider second. That means I have to care about what I grow, because it's going into my body and meant to relieve whatever ailments I need to treat. I'm not just growing a plant to get high. If I were, I wouldn't search through hundreds of seeds to find my gems. That would be unpractical.

This thread was not ruined by me. It was ruined the moment people started using this as an excuse to call people hoarders, because you guys can't find/get old school cuts. I have found a gem in every single pack of seeds that I have purchased. Seeds ARE that good right now. I realize Green House is an exception to that. I have only had bad luck with them. Every other breeder I have purchased from, has given me solid packs. Who cares if your next generation isn't exactly like the first? What if it's even better the next time around?

How hard is cloning, though? I take one clone, and it roots 100%. Anyone could keep something indefinitely.

Just cause I pay my bills after providing my friends and family enough smoke, doesn't mean I only care about money. I should get paid for how hard I work in my garden.

You sure don't love your fellow man, if you have to resort to name calling your voice doesn't need to be heard.

wait a min your the same guy who reckons he has the g13. I thought you had scarpered after we asked for pics and you showed us a g13 haze LOL
your still ranting on about shit no one cares about, posing for gg4 but you don't like people who share cuts, you claim we cant get old school genes and are not connected before you even know us lol. always funny on forums when people tell everyone how it is when they don't have a clue.
you need to put hoarders into google then search the dictionary definition of the word hoarder because you clearly don't understand what context it is used in.

Yet again, someone posing as a grower, posts about something he knows nothing about. Keep enlightening me, Sifted. I can already tell that there is soooooooooo much to learn from you.... YAWN.

You are not capable of identifying a plant by one pic. But please, continue to enlighten us all about your "expertise". I see a plant that needs water pretty badly in that pic I posted.

AND Let's abuse the rep system and downvote every post I make from here on out.

Haters are gonna hate, so please continue to turn this thread to more drama that you morons have started on this thread.

If you make posts which are rude and abusive I will certainly negative rep you . If you bring something other than your insults and personal justification I`ll consider a positive rep . Is that fair enough for you ?

Now we were talking about ... ? Potent strains wasn`t it ?

Thanks for sharin

I we are all trying to educate you but we have reached a dead end.
but you are right you cannot tell a strain from just a pic, but you can tell a sativa from an indica lol

Final warning :angrymod:

Drop the name calling and keep it civil

I brought up hoarding, nearly a week ago. I added a warning that people might not agree. You asked, I replied with the definition of hoarding. Why is it still going? I never said you can't keep your stuff!

I have found a gem in every single pack of seeds that I have purchased. I realize Green House is an exception to that. Every other breeder I have purchased from, has given me solid packs.

I am glad you have had so much luck. But I think its luck or you do a lot of research.

I support smaller breeders and have not been rewarded. I have found "keeper" plants from Med-Man, SOL, Mosca and Mandala and gotten garbage from 5 companies I won't name (feedback is on the bay if interested). But the "keepers" were nothing compared to my cuts. Those cuts were collected by a dozen growers - some of them have been growing since the 80's.

SO, I'm not claiming you can't get good strains from seeds but if that strain has to hold its own in a garden maintained by people who have have sprouted 100's of strains and collected cuts for 30 years its got a lot of competition. From my experience they lose.

Who cares if your next generation isn't exactly like the first?

ALL growers interested in Authentic old school and landrace genetics care. ALL of them. Thats the point. But the fact you know and admit this shows you not as clueless as I thought.

doesn't mean I only care about money. I should get paid for how hard I work in my garden.

You said "none of my personal friends grow for anything but profit".. .Is that to say, them, but not you? Do you mean thats why you won't trust them with your cuts?

Sorry if I misunderstood what "anything but profit" meant...my bad.

My final thought on hoarding: Unless you have the worlds best strain then you can benefit from trading.

My second final thought on hoarding: Subcool thinks the best cannabis in the world is in an unknown garden being grown by someone without internet access. I hope they don't hoard.

I'd give cuts to people I had met personally and developed a "growers" relationship with. It's just that I'm not about to send seeds or clones to people. You never know who is watching.

This makes me think we actually agree on this subject. Why did we even start arguing if we agree?

Remember, this was in reference to breeders, breeding stock and/or classic lost/vanishing strains. These growers almost always have relationships with other trusted growers.

That is awesome Raco. Can I just say what an inspiration it is to see all the wonderful work you produce. Very nice Deep Chunk Raco. I was able to grab a few Lapis Mountain Indica that is a DC cross with Afghain. Please share any thoughts you have on this hybrid as you have worked many DC crosses and the original DC. Thanks.
