Some Progress Pictures: Congo and Purple Haze x Thai

Week 9 of 12/12, organic soil mix based around ProMixHP, 510w of LED (240w + 270w) in a 2'x2' tent. Foliars and root drenches every couple of days. Some bleaching and cal/mag deficiency from screwing up my nutrient regimen and having the lights too close...grower error, the rest of the plants and bud sites all look pretty good and are glossy dark green. The biggest problem was low humidity, which has been remedied. This is my first organic grow since I switched to DTW coco with the Lucas formula, really having to re-learn a lot of my basic horticulture skills since Lucas is so idiot proof. Plants were LST'ed in the most lazy/easy ways possible, hence the horrible canopy management. Just kinda let it get outta control, lol...

The Congo might be coming down in a week or so, maybe a bit more. She's 50% clear, 40% cloudy, some trace ambers showing up now. I like my smoke pretty sedative because I suffer from anxiety and any paranoia really messes with my head.

Kewl, nice werk low and slow
It will be interesting to see how they look when you take them to the end
I am also at that point where I want my buds on the well done side.
Seems like less and less of it is done that way
I remember someone saying they like it done "almost rotten"

Welcome low_and_slow,

The Congo female looks good in the last weeks of flowering. Upper parts of the plants stretched/reveg a bit maybe from having the light too close but the rest of the plant is flowering correctly, i like the look of your cola in the third pic :)

The purple haze thai is going to be a beast :D

Things are looking good, have not seen the plants today, but they looked nice yesterday. I dropped down to 10/14 the other day to get things to finish up, just a little experiment. The Congo is definitely a bit stretched on the upper colas, but I also don't like that light that much. It's very hot for an LED and all the foliage under it has suffered greatly from deficiencies the other light is not causing.

Wouldn't be surprised if that extra stress is causing problems. Going to scope tonight, 5% amber and she's dead, assuming they look mostly cloudy otherwise.

Update:

Cut down the congo last night...she was ready and there was some calculus involved regarding the stretch and size of the PHT with regards to how much longer I wanted her to go. I quick dried a nice size nug last night and this is by far the most potent, psychadelic weed I have ever smoked in my life. Three hits off my main "heavy duty" bong and I was just completely gone. I feel like there may be some "adaptogenic/expectational" element to this, but I absolutely had feelings/effects that resembled a small dose of magic mushrooms. The mental focus and thought expansion was profound, and some very serious insights came to me last night without really needing to focus or drive towards them through meditation. This is a powerful drug for mental self-improvement.

The plant looks like she'll offer about 2oz dried, but I do not bother weighing bud because seriously who cares? I would consider the yield of this crop completely 'average' but that is knowing of course that she was grown indoors in a very confined space in horrible RH conditions. She was designed to be topped and turned into a massive tree, and my space offers really no ability to do so. This was a fun grow for me, taught me a lot about organics and about growing a big sativa in a tiny space; granted, I would not say I mastered anything, but I think I now have experience that will prove very valuable in the long run.

The taste of the bud from the microwave was so smooth and clean, that I'm very excited for some properly cured nug...unique flavor, and absolutely NOTHING harsh about it in terms of "back of throat feeling." Same throat sensation as hitting a vaporizer.

Working on some pics...

Timeline for those who are following:

9/27 - Broke ground
10/24 - Flipped to 12/12
01/21 - Chop

Plant was not sexually mature, but hey...nobody's perfect ;-)

Hi low_and_slow,

What a beautiful description, thank you very much! It always make me very happy to hear you are having new and good canna experiences with our seeds. Your Congo should improve a lot with proper drying and curing .... hope you find out the benefits of growing organically, smoother tastes and more refined aromas and
the effect has a more natural vibe. A healthier and more satisfying experience overall.

So this Purple Haze X Thai has been alive since late September, 3 weeks of veg time and the rest has been 12/12 or 10/14. Some pics:

You can see my LST job in this picture, as well as the reddish sunburn from the LED I was using...bad spectrum, currently using a different light to finish flowering.

Greetings low and slow,

I cannot see your Purple Haze Thai pictures in your last post, i'm not sure if the pics were not correctly attached or maybe they are in a private album. I'm looking forward to see your progresses. Kind regards!

Day 127 from the flip to 12/12. She's been at 10/14 for about 40 days. I vegged her 3 weeks in 18/6 before the flip, so she's at about 150 days of total lifespan right now. The bleached spots are from the light being too close...ran out of room in my setup. In these pictures, the main stem is bent 90* to the left...you can just see the main stem peeking out in the zoomed out picture with no LEDs on. Any thoughts on what I should be doing?

Dubi, How would you describe this plant? I'm assuming she's more haze leaning because she's going past 18 weeks at this point, but there's absolutely no purple color other than some mild deficiencies in the stems. Very cool experience, but at this point I'm dying to cut her down and get on with another strain! Pistils are about 40% ripe, 60% white.

Dubi, the PHT is now 160 days from germination, 131 of which have been at a flowering light cycle (first half 12:12, second half 10:14). Knowing that she wasn't sexualy mature at the flip and probably vegged a good while in 12:12, when should I be counting from for a tentative harvest window? Does this strain work better by scoping trichs and looking for cloudy/amber? Should I go off senescence of the leaves & pistils?

Thanks for the help, almost at the finish line!

Anyone have any advice? I've been on plain water this week, basically waiting for her to fade out a bit. Day 146 since the flip, plant is 167 days from germination.

Really? Posted week 20 flowering pics and I've gotta be that n00b who bumps his own thread for help?

Any thoughts on ripeness from the ACE veterans is MUCH appreciated, feel like I'm flying blind a bit

STRONG haze / thai influence in these pictures! I would say keep feeding em water till they're down to nearly no live pistils till chop which is probably 2-3 weeks tops based on the last images. If you want some smoke in the meantime, chopping the lower 1/4th off the plant at this point will be fine.

Color only comes with low temps, drop your lights off temps to 45-50 degrees for the next 2 weeks and watch them purple up quick. Watering with ice water also helps to turn them purple.

I will be interested to see if there's much Congo influence in the flowers, these images look about 50% haze / 30% thai / 20% congo.

Actually, that plant is a PurpleHaze x Thai, out of the 3oz I got off the Congo I have 1/2 a gram left only 3 weeks later!!! AMAZING daytime strain with enough "crash" to not leave you wired but also not knock you out.

I'll keep her on plain h2o for another few days and then try to post some macros. Thanks Dubi!!!

Chopped her down last night. Did something stupid security related and it's all for the best to get this grow over with. With the exception of 20% of the plant, everything was looking really nice anyway, so I have her hanging in the dark tent, no light, no circ. fan, inline fan still pulling, humidifier keeping the space just under 60%.

I did a bud wash in 2 buckets of RO water, first bucket had a half a lemon squeezed in and 1/4 cup of baking powder. Second bucket was rinse water...TONS of nasty foliar residue came off, she's looking very fresh and clean right now.
