Acrylic vs Glass bongs

B

Black_Horse

I broke my old glass bong on christmas night and decided to buy a new one.

I looked around a bit online and stumbled upon an acrylic bong.
So far, it seems to be the perfect.

1. You can disassemble the whole thing so it's very easy to clean.
2. It's plastic so you can't break it.
3. It comes with an end cap to prevent spills while transporting it.

I was wondering, are there any differences between acrylic and glass bongs?

1. Plastic and heat are a no-no with the human body.

2. Good glass doesn't break easy. My $55 beaker bong is cheap and TOUGH!

3. Why are you transporting a bong with liquid in it? Does it come with a cap for the stem to keep the water from leaking at that point as well?

4. You can't scrape a plastic bong for resin (when you have to) without contaminating it with plastic shavings.

Plastic, heat and cannabis... just not a good idea.

Keep it Clean! :D

1. The bowl and downstem are made out of glass. I don't think inhaling plastic fumes is gonna be a problem here.
2. That's what i thought too until my 6 years old bong felt from a 3 feet high desk.
3. Because clean water is hard to come by when you're smokingoutside.
4. I have jars of buds all over my desk and floor so i don't think i'm ever gonna bother smoking resin anymore.

It's not the strongest stuff I've ever smoked but, it gets the job done.

I never smoke with others and if i did, i don't think they would give a shit about my plastic bong if my backpack was filled with weed to share every time we meet.

Anyway, I'll buy both and keep the shitty one as a spare.
I've been smoking joints for less than 24 hours and already miss my bong terribly.

Plastic os OK for what it is, but you will never get it properly clean. It will always taste like shit after you have used it, no matter what you clean it with. Plastic is good for going to festsivals, and for handing to guests with a history of dropping and breaking shit.
If you can't own glass without breaking it, buy cheapo glass. I saw an awesome sort of Toro/Sov knockoff perc for £50 when I went Xmas shopping. Those Indonesian child lamp workers are getting good.

I would rather buy a cheap glass bong than a good quality acrylic bong. My mind keeps flashing back to the stained acrylic and plastic bongs of friends that never cleaned up quite right. Something about a stained plastic tube just turns me off when I am ready to smoke.

You can buy decent glass bongs starting around $50, so I cannot imagine how you are going to save very much money going plastic. You may want to spend more, but you can sure get by with a $50-$75 bong from your local headshop.

I hate the fact that I don't have much choice but to drink bottled water, because of the Phthalates in the water, as the tap water is not drinkable around here.

...you should maybe watch this video before buying your next bottle of water.

Wiggs Dannyboy gave me a heads up that the video wasn't working so here is a link to the YouTube page where it is located and thanks Dannyboy for the nod, peace.

Could you kindly sum the 1:20 hours video in a few words?
I know what my water hold both from the tap and from the bottle - and my tap holds TONS of chlorine, fluoride and some chunks of iron from the piping. The tap water just tastes bad.

...ok then, let me make your health decisions easier for you, in most cases bottled water IS tap water, just bottled and sold to unsuspecting consumers who mistakenly believe that bottled water must be safer without ever realizing that the bottled water industry is almost completely unregulated.

...so bottled water is nothing more than a mind fuck and a complete waste of money. if your tap water tastes bad you'd be far better off investing in an RO system to filter IT rather than continuing to spend money on bottled water, ad infinitum. ...the fact is you've already paid for an RO system many times over and all you have to show for it is some empty plastic bottles.

...i posted the link so you could educate YOURSELF but hey, it's your life so you go ahead and expect others to do the heavy lifting for you.

Acrylic has it's place. Like if I'm camping, and I see the cops coming. I can chuck that bong off the side of a mountain, and not feel sad about it.

Bozo, I know that.
But the piping in my building are the main problem. Add to that the copious emounts of chlorine and flouride that are filtered out in bottled water.
RO water are not good for drinking for an extended period of time as the osmotic pressure is too low. That is why people add a mineralization step to their RO system.
Considering I'm not going to stay in this place too long it is not economical to invest in a proper filteration system.

I'm not happy about drinking bottled water, but as I know my other choises I still do it.

...how can you say this if you are unwilling to watch a video? ...are you absolutely certain you know everything you NEED to know?

...and filtration systems can travel, if you install it, you'll be able to UN-install it when the time comes.

all i did was share a link and provide you with an opportunity to see if there was something there you didn't already know, if you don't even bother to look then you can never be sure there isn't something you've missed.

...but it's your money bro and your time and you are free to do with it what you will.

lol, I just received my acrylic bong and it's by far the stupidest thing I've ever purchased.
It's 10cm tall, 3cm wide and the down stem is so small i can't even use metal filters.
It also smells like someone used it before AND it's fucking pink.

How to waste 30$ 101
