like the title says, home-built aeroponic system, res is 100% free of light, nutes are dyna-gro, with dm zone, nothing organic.

is this normal?. first time back in the saddle in 4yrs.

My first thought was iron in the water, tap water?
My second is bad nutes,coagulation?
My third is weak water run off allowing nutes to settle?

Do you have "rust" stains in your sinks or toilets? That would be a good indicator of high iron content .
If you are using H2O2 in your solution that will cause iron to precipitate out of solution.

Jamesfarmer....those are excellent clues!
I didn't realize h2o2 would do that but makes sense!!!
H2o2 is hydrogen peroxide?

I had a similar thing once but was using hydroton, so I figured it was just some residual crap coming out of the hydroton, but perhaps not. Although it may be worth mentioning that I was not usig H2O2 and had the same "rust-like stuff" at the bottom of the tank.
