Colorado "legalization" going to affect prices nationwide?

I apologize ff if I was a touch accusatory...

Government and the war on drugs get me riled up lol.

But back to topic though, two states legalizing, especially ones that already had huge production coming out of them, isn't going to cause a huge new flood of product or a huge price drop.

In fact, thinking about it, the way the laws are written, it is going to increase demand immediately, driving prices up because the supply has to catch up...

Then when the legal shops are set up the grows for them will be so locked down nothing will be leaving except to head to the appropriate distribution center.

Honestly you could make the argument that it will reduce the supply leaving the sate raising prices in non med states.

demand is gonna shoot straight the fuck up
why not?

time to keep tabs on your shit ladies and gentlemen.
hate to encourage the practice of keeping shit to yourself but if everybody is slanging the same thing no one will have any edge at all.
if your just a personal grower than disregard emphatically.... but if you use the plant for funds....

proprietary genetics grown excellant will get you farther in the business end than growing the same thing the next guys has next door even if you blow it up.

good luck guys....

ill probably get -k for the truth. cant wait.....

Its all good. Not taking anything personally whodare. Gets me riled up as well.

Money shouldn't be a part of it, but it makes the world go round'. Just the way it is.

If I could have it my way I'd never want any of those who have or have ever made possible the incarceration of innocent people/friends/family ever get a cent from cannabis and its culture.

Cannabis should be legal because its great. Not because of the money now involved. We were drug dealer scum and now its OK..because they want the money too. Its hard for me to be fully on-board with that. I guess its because I'm not directly negatively effected by the war on drugs or I would be singing a different tune.. We have been fortunate enough around here to have the ability to PAY our way out of any time. A couple grand tossed in the right direction has friends out and growing some more. I know not all states/counties are this way, but we've witnessed they only want the money around here... They get it one way or another. None of my friends are doing time except for those that tried to flip the bird to them with 1000s of plants...a risk they evaluated and took.

Hopefully prohibition will be forever ended, free market will reign, we'll get true price discovery regardless of where that may be, and many people will be helped immensely both through use and industry through the legalization of a plant that should never have been made illegal in the 1st place.

Can I getta' Amen?

I will just say this about Phillip Morris(or any big company) weed.
Look what they did with tobacco, filled it with all kinds of additives and preservatives to make it more addictive, burn faster, have a longer shelf life, etc.......(not to mention a whole array of pesticides sprayed on it while growing)
You know they will do the same exact thing to weed.
You really want to smoke that crap? The first case of cancer from weed will come from their products, wait and see.

I for one would prefer to pay more for weed that has only been exposed to the mildest organic fertilizers, water, and light, period, and I don't think I'm alone in feeling that way.

Just let people know that big company weed is going to be just as polluted as big company cigarettes

Here's what I see. I'm not sure about colorado but washington will have “state stores” open in a year. I fucking guarantee you that they will have a rep for schwag in two.

This restriction alone virtually guarantees a thriving black market.

In a huge expanding market you are worried about sales?

What this development does is open the door .

Big money wants to control distribution. Don't let them.

All of us family sized producers are going to own the elite market!

It is going to take time to implement these legal changes.

Use that time to prepare by developing a menu of top quality strains and a personal network of buyers that know you have the best shit around.

But even if you don't have the best shit around and say you have the second best or third best shit or any point down the line you will still sell weed because the folks with shit better than yours can't produce enough for everyone.

And the prices will fluctuate according to demand and quality. But this has always been the way it is with any commodity.

What has happened to cannabis production in these early “medical” states is that it has fostered the development of these nasty little shits who are only in it for the money.

You fuckers should be scared because your time is at hand. End of days for you!

You are about to get “weeded” out.

Between the giant agricultural corporations and us “fine wine” types you are truly screwed.

The loving, caring people who put their all into producing the best quality they can will always do well.

And by well I mean that they probably won't become millionaires from growing weed but they will be able to knock down a decent wage from it.

I can't get over the idea that some people want this to remain illegal so they can make more money. Bloodsucking scumbags!

After the election the State of Washington announced that they would drop prosecution of 176 pending possession cases due to them being “un-prosecutable”. About time!

Remember the mission statement of “Overgrow”?!!!

This pocket synopsis brought to you by Delta9nxs Enterprises in concert with “No Jive Productions”. You'll be seeing my branded products soon at a flea market near you!

Never once did I say "I just want free weed" never said it or insinuated that. But 20$ a gram to someone who is on SSDI is a RAPE in progress. If NY would legalize med use and let me grow my own..done.I grow trees, but my wife has a sensitive job that she would lose if I were arrested for growing. And if she loses her job,our family is officially screwed.I have hoarded some genetics I was lucky enough to find/buy/recieve,but a small collection indeed. We cannot move to MMj friendly state as we just recently bought our house, instead of renting. So here I am a homeowner, paying taxes, one kid in college and one in college in 2 years, losing my ass buying medicine,I NEED as opposed to want.I have zero local connections and the ones I did have drooled when they saw me walking up their driveway, cane in hand, sweating like a dead dog.Knowing I am severely ill and laughing all the way to the bank while they sell me some weed they have no idea the lineage of,who thinks it may be "Bubblegum(and never a real 1/4,its always a shade over 5 grams).Knowing what real bubblegum looks like and smells like,I'd say no.At 20$ a gram it is truely kicking my ass and I have had to become very creative in order to not run out.Running out is dangerous because cannabis allows me to eat a meal and to keep it down.I have cyclic vomiting due to 480mg of Oxycontin for severe chronic pain issues. If I lived in Med State I'd qualify instantly. However I live in a state where $$ talks and bullshit walks.Legalized gay marriage cause it took in 230 million 1st week due to license fees tax etc etc..only in great state of NY.Im dying here Free the weed for those in Need!! Peace and One Love BigD

I agree with flower farmer.. while im psyched for residents of wa and co, im not too psyched that there will in all likelihood be a price drop in my market
and its still just as illegal for me to produce mj... I can still get thrown in a cage..
freedom is worth alot to me... while im glad some states have developed a more sane policy on pot.. that doesnt help me one bit.
i may be a scumbag but i like $ and I have a big family to support.. and btw big daddy if i knew u and ur situation id throw u a sack of fire on the house...

CO legalization will jus lead to a bunch a fresh 18-year-old high school graduates move out here and try to grow their own 6 plants. After 6-12 months, or the first really hot summer, 9 out of 10 of them will give up and sell their grow equipment in craigslist and probably move back east. This won't affect prices. However, I do think brokers will try to use it as an excuse and try to get cheaper weed.

There is something in the nature of cannabis which is going to make a market very challenging. It will be similar to what we've encountered with the effort to use it medicinally, even more so. I'm not aware of any psychoactive substance, including different varieties of psilocybin mushrooms, which has such vastly ranging effects. Consumers will have to learn not only their "brand" but also a phenotype within the strain. Its true that a large percentage will be satisfied with whatever product they're offered but I don't think we should underestimate how many consumers won't. I think we'll see research into efforts to match cannabinoid profile by developing ways to relate mental effects to terpenes (smell tests) and even personality rating scales to help people know which product is more likely to agree with them.

$400 an oz with peeps lined up around the block!
Wyoming and colorado pigs on the look out. Talks of ag check points.
They want to take out home cultivation from the law because they claim its black market and unregulated

I thought the home cultivation thing was in the Constitution and was therefore unrevokable? I'm speaking about Colorado not Washington.

What's an AG checkpoint?

Hey Blue Socks: ag should be agricultural checkpoints. They did that when I had a flight over seas once. You are correct, home grow in the constitution here in Colorado. It can only be changed by another vote of the people. LEO and politicos can cry all they want but they are stuck with home grow unless they manage to change the way people will vote. The pro marijuana lobby is very strong here in CO. I really respect whoever wrote out the Ammendment 64 because they didn't leave any loopholes for LEO or politicos to screw with peoples use of weed.

the idea of legalization always gets me thinking...

if some day weed is "legalized worldwide", i think most of the high quality weed production would be done in places like africa, south america and se asia. Truth is, indoor weed is not as good as outdoor weed grown (properly grown, not talking about cartel's production) in those places.

ps: sorry for my english

CO is kind of stupid right now. Retail shops selling herb on Jan 1 basically ripping it off from the patients they were supposed to be growing for. Was just out there in Montezuma County. A friend owns a dispensary near there and connected with others.

I've said the prices would not drop but they would actually go up due to the fucking taxes....and here we are legal herb for 100 buck for a 1/4 zip...hmmm, go figure....
