When exactly did it get roadkill skunk get changed or disappear? How common was it? Was it one pheno out of many plants or was it quite easy to find in a pack of seed?

I looked at the old SSSC catalog and it says the skunk #1 was a sweet strain.

Old Skool Road Kill smelled like a skunks ass. The skunk in the early 80's had the skunk smell, but was a dead giveaway so it was breed out of the strain in holland. There is another thread on here about it.

If you had a bag in your pocket everyone would know. I once walked in to a friends house with a fresh cut bud in my pocket and a friend could smell it upstairs in his house the second I walked in the door. That was the problem with it. You wouldn't want to get into an elevator with your boss with even a small amount.

back in 90', a friends dad had a film canister labled A1 Skunk. we, as teenagers, took liberty to pinch a thin joints worth and 1, large seed emerged ! as luck would have it, it was around the end of May, so we germinated it at once. we sprouted it on my friends roof, then into the back yard. after a while, the plant determined female at about 2'in height. already the specimen was text book Indica, short, stocky and very dark green, waxy foliage. at this stage, she was already stinking up the yard, so we decided to transport her, out into a nearby timberland where the clear cut blocks offered all day southern exposure. she was placed just at the timberline, for subterfuge. the A1 Skunk really took to her new digs, and commenced packing on the weight... when we would go to check and/or irrigate her, the incredible skunky stench was noticeable from over 100 meters and got more pronounced as one approached her...at close range, a guy's eye's and nose would literally run ! she developed clusters along the meristem, eventually forming one very large "donkey dick" style protrusion. the cola was however, quite leafy, but caked in tall standing trichomes from the stem to leaf tips ! sadly she was a lone female and we didn't have the ability or knowledge to take cutting, so was lost to history... think we got around 3 zips of extremely stinky and sticky outdoor A1 Skunk that you had to peel out of the bag ! onced dried, we went visiting friends to turn them on, and as soon as we walked in, heads turned and people exclaimed " who's got the SKUNK ? " lol. really miss that one dearly and always wondered if it was Afghani#1 x Skunk#1 or if A1 just stood for "primo"? ;)

Yeah, it is kinda bizarre that one of the less skunky strains is named Skunk #1. At some point while breeding out the skunkiness they should have changed it to Fruitbat #1 :biglaugh:

there is a whole big sticky on it, read it a long time ago, forgot most of it, sam the skunk man i think? he liked the fruity pheno's best so he bred it in that direction, but he still had original seeds with the roadkill pheno's but he just didn't want to work with it or let anybody else...that could be all wrong though, my heads still a little off from new years eve...

In the 90's a friend gave me a film cannister with seeds from Mendo & Humboldt.

One of the plants had an overwhelming Skunk smell with a Licorice smell too. I called it PU Licorice Skunk. It was AWESOME. Pretty Indica in growth pattern.

I have also smelled Skunk in some Mexican Sativa's. (good, resiny Sativa's).

As far as Skunk #1 - I don't know.

blah blah blah blah nobody has nothing.

This specimen is extinct ... long gone.

If this was truly available trust me somebody somewhere would be making a killing with it.
Be it clones seeds or just good weed for sale.

Shit is long gone, After all of these years with this topic on canna forums nobody has emerged with anything close. (aside from the chem lines).

Safe to say anybody saying they have this (ONLINE) is blowing so much fuckin smoke..

I believe maybe just maybe it could still be around but those folks who have it don't fuck around with the internet canna scene.

I think most people just called it skunk by smell and what they were smoking was some kind of affie or skunk/affie

Ihave to laugh at posts like this.

Just yesterday I had a friend over for NY- he is a broker on Vancouver Island - I had given him a selection of jars for xmas a couple of weeks ago and he was going on about how he and his boys had been smoking through the jars and couldn't believe how one of the jars reminded them all of the early 90's and the pungent skunk smell and the lbs and lbs they used to flip in the day......

The skunk is definitely not extinct.... far from it.

The chems share a few terps... if you have access to a lab that does terpene analysis you can see just how the chem family differs from most other things... but the chems don't compare to the true skunk/pinene terp profile...

exactly....Chemdog is the closest strain i have encountered that has the terpenes and actual resin concentration..similar to the old school skunk that I used to get when i was 15...we would throw it at the wall and it would stick...it was also a 4 bagger...if you didn';t have 4 bags wrapped up with it..people KNEW you had skunk in your pocket..and even 4 bags didnt help

ahh the old school skunk...well good to hear it MAY actually exist still..

I have some old seeds of Supreme Skunk(skunk 1 x Afghani 1)..from emery they are so hard to start though...

Wrong,
I do have 20+ year old clones and a few seeds, but I don't need to make a killing, I am well off, and don't waste my time on efforts I have no interest in anymore.
Listen to people like Tropical Rain if you like, but he is just blowing smoke in this case.....

@Chimera, so your saying ( in not so many words ) you grew out some authentic early 90's RKS ? if so, hope you have a breeding project in mind with said specimen(s) :)
@Sam_Skunkman, we know you don't really care for the RKS, and are obviously a very busy man...but is there any potential breeders you would consider passing it down to ? our community seems to crave, as you say, what they can't have ;)

Hello Sam,

Thanks for stopping by, but while you are here could you answer my questions if you have a minute?

When did it disappear? And how common was it? Was it a clone only or was roadkill skunk pheno quite abundant in a pack of seed?

I have read many stories over the years but want to know some truth. I looked at the old sssc catalog and it says Sk#1 was sweet so I wonder when exactly was it skunky?

So you still have a roadkill skunk clone? if so could you show some pics?

Why do you have no interest in a true skunk these days? besides being wealthy.

Sorry for all the questions. I just like to know strain history.

Thanks.

pretty sure he said he bred the RKS out of SK#1, as he found the buzz to "muddy", preferring the clear high of the sweet types ;)

Thanks bigbag but thats not what I am asking.

I know the old story but I want to know when it was around, I am looking at the old cultivators choice catalog and it also refers to it as a sweet strain. So I wonder when were the seeds available that were true skunk.
