So here we go. What determines the "ONE"? The hunt for phenos could be more complicated than i thought. One of my ravs has tri-lateral branching that is very interesting. Is this common?

"The one" is a constantly moving target.
So subjective, as to be an opinion based solely on your own requirements of what make good or bad.
A personal journey at best.

The hardest part is to shitcan older cuts to make room for better cuts.
Once you get, say 10 keepers, all the best of each individual breeding, then score a better cut of any or them.
Then the decision has to be made to keep your numbers in check, or axe one.

You get attached to a cut, like a pet.
Having to decide to shitcan one is the hard part, or the 'complication' in the decision.

Keep those you see fit for now, to your liking, and when a better one comes, you'll know what to do.

PS: You are far from rookie status, relax and enjoy the adventure.

I want to say thank to our original cheap ol' bastard. Three years ago was my first lone harvest, a pathetic 5oz off 3 plants. And then the start of my second season I found sg1 and the old COB thread, then his multi strain thread. I was hooked. I love the simple no bullshit just fix it don't analyze it attitude. I liked the home made solutions and the old school tryed and true watering and cloning techniques. I liked that SG encouraged me to get in touch with the plants by lifting pots, constant inspection and hand watering. 3 seasons of outdoor in the books and my harvest totals went from 5 oz of swag to 4 lbs off 4 plants year 2, to 10lbs off 3 plants and sky high test results. Thank you SG. Pay attention minions and train your brain your buds will thank you.

You flatter me, thank you :tiphat:

But take a look in the mirror.
That guy did the work.
He read, studied, asked questions, and applied sage advice.
I'll claim 5% of your success, but the other 95% came from you and others.
You had the attitude, and aptitude to make a fine grower.
Now you can enjoy the spoils. :dance013:

Thanks for your feedback X.
I've never had any weed that made me paranoid.
I'll give her a run eventually.
Ravnus has my interest for sure.

Day 27 of flower for my first run with the noc strain. This girl is seriously frosty and growing very well with my current style of growing! Still has a very upfront scent of blueberries whenever I brush up against her!

A while back Cougartex asked about my 40+ year old seeds that my old grow buddy labeled one as MM 1+2 x MTV and the other was Like MTV. So I was looking at another grow that had some strains that were related to Thunderfuck. Cougartex was wondering if this might relate back to "matanuska tundra valley". Here is a side by side picture of my Eminem (MM 1+2 x MTV) on the left and Thunderfuck on the right. I say the leaf structure is very similar.

In my years in Seattle, I always heard the terms Alaskan thunder fuck (ATF)or Mantanuska Valley Thunderfuck (MVT)
Never MTV as I recall.
The leaf structure on your seedling is very similar indeed.
But having been down the mystery seed route a few times, your chances of re-discovering a lost treasure is at a minimum.
Fingers crossed for ya finding a gem, but most of the seed found back in the day was of Mexican, S American, or Asian decent.
All of which have similar looks.

You do have my attention though, and looking forward to your updates.

ohmygod! what do i do? my soil has got white fungus growin all over the top....

not trippin.... just makin a joke over the newbs who would freak out and toss their soil if they saw the fungus that I try to cultivate.... pull back my mulch and you'll see all type of insect and arthropod.... I even see a few thrips time to time... but predation requires prey so they are welcome too.... I do the dirt-foot hippy thing.

So I called my old grow buddy and just asked about the MTV naming. He said that it was a cross between a strain out of California he named MA. The other was a seed from some of the best Thai stick he had smoked. He planted around 100 plants and this one plant turned out to be early maturing and good quality. He was overwhelming my memory with all sorts of information. I'd need hours with him to remember all the back history.
