the tropics are one of the best places for lazy afternoon naps in some sort of hammock with some sort of drink with a paper umbrella nearby...

i had a lot of fun there when i lived there....right up until my liver tried to run away...

lucky for me i have a plant sitter now, just need to figure out a time to go,weather is forecast to be very nice for the next 10 day period so i want to get out at least one night, thinking new years day is looking good...

Yeah, I noticed it's hard to stay hydrated when every liquid drink contains rum. While staying in a little guest house we met the cook who had only been there for two months, he was a southern boy, tall and lanky. I told my wife he could be the next fishstick in waiting. He could cook some mean grub too!

Can't wait till next winter to find a new spot to chill although my wife says Alaska is next and that is that! Can't say I'm interested in AK but a happy wife, a happy life. Nothing like paying good money to go be cold.

alaska is beautiful no matter what time of year it is but you would be crazy to go there mid winter unless you lived there unless your really into outdoor winter stuff...that said, seeing the northern lights in full display is something you will never forget...or cross country skiing under a full moon on a -20 night....stuff like that sticks with you....
summertime is much nicer...plus,everything touristy is pretty well closed for winter...

a day of hauling shit home today, need 2 bags of medium, thats always a fun trip....wait till i get my bill trailer, then i can haul like 10 bags at once!

AK would definitely be a summer/fall trip. My buddy did Denali in Sept and said it was outstanding. The wife wants to go see the bears eating salmon on the river.

Today is clean up the grow room day. It was a frantic last minute push to get everything all hooked up so there is shit everywhere, boxes, garbage, drip tubing, stakes all over the damn place. I do my best work under extreme pressure even though I don't enjoy it lol.

Hey Guys - happy holidays.

Unc - I noticed you say u gotta haul medium today - on a bike?

Also could I post some actual Bicycle Repair questions?

I need some help with my crank its loose and the other day I went to smash to cross the street and beat the street light - only to have the chain come of the crank - nut myself - and give everyone in the intersection something funny to laugha nd talk about - but yeah I need to do a super tune up on the bike - was wondering if you would be able to guide me a bit?

:smoke out:

i have BOB trailer and i can fit a 95 liter tote in that which is just enough space for 4 cubic feet of medium...

its possible i can help but really if you just go to you tube i bet theres already a video that covers the repairs you need.

and just to see if we are on the same page by cranks i assume you mean the thing the pedals are connected to,that is referred to as a crankset, which is the two crankarms and the chainrings along with the bottom bracket which is the axle the crankarms are connected to.on an older bike its likely theres a 15mm bolt holding the crankarms to the bottom bracket,if that bolt had worked loose and your crankarms started coming off you could be screwed since the crankarms are typically made of soft aluminum and the bottom bracket axle is tool steel so they tend to strip out.

or,it could be your chain is worn out or super dirty, either would cause your chain to barf like that...

I cant speak for unc but i dont think he'd mind talkin bikes.:dunno::]

Unc, your gorilla pics get better and better. If thats possible.
Those last few are so frosty its just retarded looking.:tiphat:

...
These tests are questionable. do we really trust the numbers they spit out ??

I think it varies from lab to lab. SC labs test seem to always be 5% higher than anywhere else. I think they do it on purpose to get more business.
Think about it, why wouldnt growers want to go somewhere theyre gonna get the highest numbers.
I heard Kyle Kushman got a GTH#1 sample tested at SC and it was 29% and 24% at another lab.

Dans. I read an article in Skunk magazine a few years ago, about plant health. Basically about reading plants. And one of the things the author mentioned (with pics included) was "wavy" leaves. I think maybe this is what your talking about. I know that there are really strains that have genetic leaf "crinkles", like some of DJ Shorts strains. And those will probably crinkle regardless of health, but idk.
But i think what your talking about is different.?

If what you meant, is what i think, then those wavy leaves just mean your plant is in optimal health. I have observed it in many strains. Some do it more than others, and some not really at all.
I know that seems simple, but once i read that article, i started observing my plants very closely. Ive learned the plants can tell you exactly how they feel and what they need(i cant always hear/understand them, but theyre trying to tell me at least). Ive also found the claim about the wavy leaves meaning happy plants to be true.
I snapped a couple pics to try and show this. I actually have a decent example to show this right now. I have a few gg4 clones. And im trying different things on each of them, to see what they like. Anyways, one is as healthy as can be. Another, is pretty unhappy.
The "unhappy" one has flat, paper-y, dull, not shiny, light green (which isnt always bad, but as you know gg4's leaves are a darker green when healthy) leaves.

The Rev and I could be totally wrong about this. Im just putting it out there as a possibility. I think you may be right that Chem/diesels show this "wavy" trait more than others. All my strains that i can think of that do this have at least some chem in them. Although tbh, most of what i grow has chem in it.

p.s. the Rev claims to have learned this from an old school group of organic growers from the Emerald Traingle he refers to as "the druids".

I seem to remember from my old BMX racing days the cranksets we would refer to as three piece cranks would almost all strip out after not too long. It was only if you spent the serious dollars on wood bro's or redline's would they last.

So now that I'm back for a spell it's time to soak some seeds. Thinking of either some of CannaVentures cookie cross's like lemon larry cookie or flaming cookie although I'm intrigued by some beans ghostnugz gave me which are stardog crosses. I believe I have some Strawberry diesel x Stardog that could be good. Same SD male as the GG#4 cross that bigscoot has I believe.

Guess it's time to look at the collection.

last thing on the subject..

last thing on the subject..

also, i think what makes it more confusing and harder to decide what it is, is the fact that it looks differently from plant to plant, garden to garden. Even leaf to leaf.

Heres another GG4, this one is "happy", but the wavyness looks different than in the first pic of a "happy" vegging gg4 i posted.

Then again this pic could be more of a slight genetic crinkle thing. Maybe the Glue shows the wavy-ness when healthy, and the sporadic, genetic "crinkle"/curve??

Sorry for the photo bomb guys. Ive been wondering about this for a while, and am more or less thinking out loud. sorry.:smoke:

I do have a pack of CJ f2's although for some reason I seem to recall there was no male used in that unintentional cross. I could be wrong.

Never have seen pics of the SD male. Would love to see some.

pappy....thats a pretty complicated subject to address as it has to do with tropism which is the plants "movement" towards or away from various stimuli.im sure you're familiar with photo-tropism which is the term for how plants will orient themselves towards the best light source. but since that response is controlled and influenced by the plants maintaining the correct transpiration levels which in turn is influenced by osmotic balance at the root zone and on and on in that fashion....
what i am learning is that its one of those simple/complex things, its all about water in the long run...water is the common binding element in almost all plant/environment problems....too much, too little, not applied correctly or at the right time or its the wrong temp or a bad dissolved mineral content or the room is too humid or too dry...

so theres an answer,its water....

third.....the new bike tech is pretty frickin cool, the surly and the specialized both have hollow arm cranks with oversized sealed bearing mechanisms that make that crank arm stripping a thing of the past, they are pretty much utterly reliable now.that and disc brakes and the wheels and tires are so turbo these days...

While waiting for my wife to do some shopping I popped in a bike shop. First time in many a year. Didn't have much of a selection but I did eye a camber 29 for a while.

Yeah, a bit more advanced than I'm used to.

I took some edibles to a party yesterday told everybody not to eat more than 2, LOL .
I also took a big pile of buds ,told everybody just help them self.
most of these people are light weight smokers . there was no cookies left & supriseingly only a few nugs left.
I got several calls this morning telling me those cookies were too strong. only from those who ate more than 2 lol

Evening Y'all....

So a friend is bringing a 2011 Felt Q520 over tomorrow for me to look at. He is upgrading to a nicer bike, and asking $350 for his. Well taken care of....serviced at the shop. Off to look and see what I can dig up online as far as reviews and all.

you may have some trouble finding 8 speed rear end parts in another couple years...looks like a good bike.it has a decent set of components...be sure and check the front shock,if it needs replacing that could be more than the bike in cost...
