Got the new TDS meter out and ready for a few questions.....
My tap water checks @ 560 ppm, My usual mix per gallon I have been using the last few weeks has been 6.6g Maxibloom (5-15-14), 10 ml Cal-Mag per Gallon pH'd to 5.9 to 6.1 or so. The TDS on this read 1200 ppm.

I am on day 31 flower and plants look really happy with this mixture. I have a bloom enhancer (Bloombastic 0-14-15) that I would like to start adding. Do I add this on top of my normal mixture until I get a certain PPM? Or should I cut back on my Maxibloom when I add this to keep the 1200 ppm they are happy with?
Cut back on the maxi when adding any PK booster . the 2 added together should be equal to or less than the normal 1200 .

Your water TDS sounds scary to me ! but it also means that half your ppm of 1200 is your water not the nutes .... nutes come out to about 640 ppm , which is on the low side & good considering your water is so high . ya might want to look into an RO system .
I won't use mine & it comes out of the tap at 270

I would not use that water its way to high in ppm.. IMO it should be less then 100ppm for me to use tap water ... My city water is mixed with well water shooting the PPM up to 800ppm so I got a RO/DI water filter..

My water will drop to 50ppm any day now that winter is here. they stop using well water in the winter here.

Never had a TDS meter before so now just getting a grip on this. Getting ready to order RO unit tomorrow, if I remember right I bookmarked one from a recomendation in this thread (Dans I think?).

The best news of all for me.....is once I harvest this grow...I should never, ever have to resort to buying mexi-brick weed ever again. :woohoo:Had I not F'd up.....that would have already happened.

Anyway.....wanted to share a few pics but cannot find my camera :noway: so will do so tomorrow

Do I understand his correctly? If my tap is 600 ppm and I add nutes (600 ppm) to get 1200 ppm it would have no more chance to "burn" the plants then if I have RO water @ 50 ppm and add nutes (1150 ppm from nutes) to get 1200 ppm?

The difference being I know exactly what is in there?

NO , your MORE likely to burn them with that much PPMs of nutes. .... my thinking is your water source has alot of sodium which is whats bringing the PPms up to that level . by adding 1150 ppms of nutrients to RO water your more than likely overdosing them & would get some burn .

now that you have the TDS meter you can start low & build up to see what the plant likes . 1200 is the MAX i would ever go .... i very rarely go over a 1000 even with a PK boost .

500 to 750 TDS in veg & 750 to 1000 TDS in flower is a decent starting point for just about any nutrient . but the plants will tell you if they need more or less by the way they react . keep an eye out for deficiences & or tip burn .

I was going to comment on how much CalMag you said you were putting in , but i dunno now . you've got me scratching my head now , those plants look great for fuked up water & probably 1/4 of your ppms being calmag & 1/2 your water ....
what are you growing in ??? coco , soil ????

what meter did you get ? was it calibrated ?

My bad...........looked at the TDS pen again......my tap is 56 to 58. Dunno why I mulitplied it by x10 as the pen does this once it is over 100. So I am really getting 1140 ppm in nutes really.

why so much Calmag though ??? 10ml per gallon is exssesive . i'm in coco & have never gone over 4 ml per gallon of RO .
your probably up to about 400 ppm in just calmag .200 is max for RO unless the plant calls for more & with your tap 100ppm is probably plenty .

I never realised that Canna could take low temps. Remember the tiny volunteer plant out back that was frozen and covered in ice when the temps were in the 20s?

I should have taken a pic today of it. Its comming back! Its got fresh leaves blowing out now!

Remember the 15 plants, up to 2.5 feet tall that have been out in the unheated greenhouse, when the temps dipped into the mid 20s?

They are going into bud. They somehow were not affected by the cold
