So, with most of our manufacturing now gone, just what DOES America make? Trouble, mostly. With 4% of the world's population and 18% of the economy, we have 50% of all the lawyers, all looking to make a killing by looting those few industries that still call America home (like Microsoft). Kids don't want to be scientists and engineers; they've seen how little such people are valued in our country. Based on recent history, kids see the "big bucks" are in corporate law, specifically investment banking, leveraged buyouts, greenmail, junk bonds, in short what other countries describe as "trying to make money grow by shaking it side to side".

With America's ability to actually produce products that can compete on the open world market in decline, it's no wonder that the balance of trade is the problem it is. Nobody buys our export products because we just don't make that many any more, and like or not, we have to buy our appliances from the people who make them, which are NOT Americans. (When Ampex invented the VCR, they didn't even bother trying to find an American company to make it, they immediately sold the rights to Japan).

because of this the Federal Reserve is artificially keeping interest rates really low, close to ZERO

Now, as soon as this US DEBT BUBBLE blows the f*ck-up, inflation will soar, interest rates will rise, and USA will not even be able to cover the monthly interest rate payments

which will lead to a DEFAULT

Nothing can stop this, because The Federal Government and The Federal Reserve, instead of allowing the Debt Bubble, the Stock Market Bubble, and the Real Estate Bubble to completely burst and go through the natural cycle....

they have chosen to keep blowing up the DEBT BUBBLE through printing US Dollars and manipulating inflation/interest rates on paper.

When this FINAL bubble bursts, what happened in 2008/2009/2010 will look like a walk in the park.

And the question is not IF this will happen, but WHEN it will happen.

This global financial Tsunami will be really freakin devistating folks...

...so be ready...2014...2015 at the latest...the hugest financial bubble (total US debt) will blow...and will bring Tidal Waves that will truly be devastating.

The Chinese are on their way to surpassing us scientifically, economically and militarily. Eventually. Their high schools and colleges are ranked something like 20 countries ahead of us in terms of math and science. They work harder than us, and as much as I don't like their government I have to admit they're smart about fiscal issues. We're still the world's leader in terms of technology. We're still the number 1 superpower. We won't be forever.

We're not like the Roman Empire. We won't be overrun by Goths and Vandals. Nuclear weapons mean we won't be invaded and conquered. To me it seems like we have more in common with the old British Empire. The UK is still a great country, but it's not the dominant world power it used to be. The US will be around for a long time, longer than we'll all be around I'm sure. We just won't be the dominant world power forever.

Having said that, there's still a lot to be excited about for people in the technology industry.
