hi guys, next week i'm leaving for 10 days in spain with my friends, i'll be staying in valencia and barcelona, so i'm looking for some tips about marijuana clubs, since i've been hearing about them for a while and i'd like to see how they are.
is there anybody here who could suggest me some clubs in these two cities? if there is any that doesn't require to be introduced by someone else it would be better, and also i read around that most of this clubs require to be 21 to register, since i'm just 20 i'd like to know if there is any of this clubs in which i could get in.
thank you all in advance for your help!

Do you need a Dr.'s recommendation to become a member of one of these clubs?

No, but a serious one will help you get in and may also get you a discount.

The law is very clear, these clubs are [only] legal because they are PRIVATE. It is not "Legal" ... just some clever and brave people, plus expensive lawyers, pushing the boundaries of what you can do in private.

Some clubs are very tight, they also do not want passing trade, they want regular members [so, limit membership] who will build a close family vibe, keep the place alive and pay the wages and bills, all the while not making a profit... Others are open to new members, e.g. tourists, who are just passing through and are set up to handle this. Resin being the former, Zion the latter, IMO.

Others are bending the rules, and may well end up paying a price for that, there are also "Green tours" offered where they may be able to introduce you, I was just speaking to someone who may be going on one, but I really know nothing of this.

Prices are roughly half Amsterdam and the Private Club status means a far more relaxed, cheap, friendly time than there. It really is your own private club, not a business, a system offering great advantages, despite a couple of problems with joining. Did I mention the comfortable sofas ? Avoid July August as it is far too hot and packed to the brim with tourists. All other months are great, usually warm and sunny compared to anywhere in N Europe.

So it's decriminalised to an extent? Do the ones that cater to the tourists get any trouble from the police?

No, it is not decriminalised at all, the Police will happliy give you a E400 fine for posession in the street. The law is very clear, what happens in a private space is private, in public, you must abide by the laws. Almost all the clubs have been raided, staff held, weed confiscated, paperwork investigated. In Barcelona, they are less bothered, especially in the last year, but other people starting clubs in rural, conservative parts of Catalunya and the Communidad Valenciana are getting harassed daily. Stories of Police vans parked up outside, stopping, photographing everybody.. it all depends on where you are and the attitude of the local Mayor, Police Chief. The Mayor of one area I go to a club is known to be a toker, so there is little hassle.

Yes, you do, the law is very clear about this, but it seems people are getting around this hurdle in various ways, like the smokers tours. Hopefully we will get someone to take one and can report their findings..

It is easy to score on the street, almost impossible not to get ripped off and 10% of the time you will get robbed at knifepoint. Smoking in your apartment or hotel is no problem, but it is a lot more civilised in your own Social Club with comfy sofas, cheap drinks, you can bring in food, do whatever you want, way more freedom and less commercial than a Coffeeshop in 'Dam.

Thanks for the info Chaos. Sounds like some brave people making some ground breaking moves.

I can second what you say. Family member of mine just drove to Barcelona from Cannes, not so street smart just to let you know just average tourist there. Outside Barcelona they stop for gas and coffee when they leave the service station they notice they have a flat tire. They stop, not even 1 minute later car stops behind them 3 men get out and rob them at knife point.

They arrive in Barcelona check in at hotel as soon as they leave, they head to la rambla, they are surrounded and robbed once again. They head to police station, file a report and leave Barcelona that same night back to Cannes. They got robbed twice within 4 hours during the night. The policemen were saying that the recent economic crisis in Spain is making this more frequent.

It's sad cause apparently the police station was filled with tourists facing the same predicament. Spain needs tourism if it's going to bounce back, no one likes austerity measures except tourists makes travelling cheaper.

Just happened in June, didn't turn me off going to Barcelona. I will probably head there within the next year to see what's up. I also get to visit the Camp Nou at last!!!

I expect to have a great time. Great food, beautiful ladies, and hopefully great cannabis.

Saluki, So sorry to hear this, I did mention that buying street deals will often get you mugged, but did not think to warn drivers of the pincho trick... Usually East European/Balkan gangs doing this on the roads, as always, they pick on the obvious tourists, use distractions. Sometimes in Service Stations, sometimes besides the motorway, always take care, stare down dodgy looking people, raise your hands and look ready for a fight, it is the last thing they want.

very interesting to read about the details on these social clubs, sounds pretty damn sweet.

Holy crap, 4 hold ups in 1 day? how the fuck did they even have anything left to be robbed of? man that sounds depressing.

yea, its getting bad there, saw a documentary the other day, there is around 600 thieves active in and around ramblas/centre/trainstation. Also those African hookers on the ramblas will try to steal your wallet as they walk up to you to "do their business". Mate i was with the other month had to grab one by the arm and give her the look....lol.

Its a great city , just be carefull, like in all big cities.
