DWC - How clean is your water?

Vol... try adding 10 ml/gal of Aquashield. The ph climbing and cloudiness can be a sign of bacteria forming. Aquashield is basically liquid beneficial bacteria that prevent bad bacteria from growing. You have to add it back to your water every once in a while, but it is amazing stuff. Don't use H2O2 with it or it will kill the good guys. Keeps every res I've ever had smelling fresh and looking clear. =)

there's a dude on YouTube called Hygro Hybrid that has made hours and hours of videos on DWC and RDWC, He grows 1 pound plants, 600watts a plant with GH nutes and some amendments here and there, I like watching his vids cause it's like weed porn.

Peace

i don't understand how any amount of aerobic bacteria can survive in a bottled, stored and shipped product. can someone enlighten me?

Bacillus subtillis, when it encounters unfavorable conditions, goes inactive and forms an endospore. Endospores can go through extreme temperature changes like fire, harsh chemicals, extremely anaerobic conditions, etc. When the endospore encounters favorable conditions again, it reactivates and the bacteria resumes life.

I don't know for sure, but I'm assuming this is how Aquashield ships the bacillus subtilis, since there is obviously no oxygen supply inside their bottle.

My roots have exploded! My water was cloudy for about 3 days and now its crystal clear and theres fuzzy roots everywhere,, I assume the light cloudiness was due to the chlorine,, now its all good :) my plant has doubled within the past couple days. NO PH down used at all.

I would say its a good amount,, im not using full strength. its lushy and looks even better now than those pics,, its rapidly growing, im using a really blue 7000k blue light to veg and the plants just love it. , roots growing by the hour.. this is all amazing too me becuase the whole time ive been using this ph powder and it stunted the hell outta my growth.. i think this is what ruined my other dwc i did.. i just cant believe it was something so simple,, i could sit here for days an tell you the struggles and upgrades i did. shhhitt,, anyways.

I guess i got a bad batch .. :dunno: ??

--snip---

I mounted my R/O machine in the laundry room and the 'waste' line goes into my washing machine. I fill a 5 gallon jug with clean water and then wash clothes with the 'waste'. There's no waste. :)

Keep it Clean! :D

Sparkly Kleen! :)

I just trimmed a half-pound root mass off of those little scraggly roots left.

Here's about a week later...

Yes indeed it can be a mystery when your not sure whats going on, give it some time and you will know your plants.

Just stick to it and take good advice or pointers, and the internet can be your enemy, but also your saving grace, know and discern, good info from bad and that will make you a epic grower.

Then when you feel like you are on top of the game you can return to help others.

Dark green, velvety leaves (lush) means they're getting way too much nitrogen. Should be medium green. :)

Get an R/O machine and learn to grow with R/O water. You'll never have to 're-learn' how to do hydro when you move or your water supply changes. It also makes for crystal clear water without having to 'do' or 'use' anything to achieve it.

p.s. Ideal pH for cannabis in hydro for most nutrient profiles is a full swing from 5.2-6.0'ish. Don't let anyone tell you different... go search out why for yourself. :)

wow man your right on top of that, I never even considered doing that, I really appreciate your input as I was a bit concerned about the water rejection rate of my RO water unit.

Sincere Kudos to you for finding a way to utilize the waste water.

Glad you like that... Pure accident...

Was just looking for the most convenient place to put the dang thing where I could handle water messes and such. Hose fitting on the machine was same as cold water tap for washer... everything else just clicked. lol

Should I expand the size of my garden and end up with more 'waste' water... definitely going to look into a large tank to hold it in. Wash the car, water the lawn and garden (veggies don't care. lol) Maybe even put in a mini-ice rink for the neighbor kids. LOL

Keep it Clean! :D

I havent been using my ph down powder for several months now, i have two healthy cannabis plants and one ready to go into flower,, i have been using just tap water and synthetic nutes,, with no ph chasing done what soever. I cant help but wonder what is happening by not phing... everybody ph's their water but i dont,, surely i cant be the only one who discovered plants grow just fine in water and nutes. i believe my botanicare products are buffering the ph and thats helping as well but still,, i havent checked my ph in like half a year. literely.

Someone fill me in. im about to go into flower and i know things can happen "apparently" if the ph isn't correct at this crucial stage.

Exactly !
I had the same thing, not too smelly or slimy but very cloudy and I had some dark areas on the roots and I new that wouldn't get any better.
A little research and reading about the differences between a sterile res and one with beneficial bacteria and I decided on AquaShield as well.
I use 8ml per gal and the liquid is nice and clear.
Now it is dark, like a very strong iced tea, but NOT cloudy at all.
If your plants start to drink a lot and you add plain PH'd water, make sure to add back the proportional amount of AquaShield as well.
Your roots will love you !
