cookies x sssdh test run

Once again I'd like to thank ojd for the opportunity to test this strain. Connoisseur Genetics are making some serious moves with these sssdh hybrids.

Seeds were stored in the fridge for a couple of weeks prior to germination. All 6 were put straight into organic seedling mix on 26th June 2013, no pre-soak.

Within 40 hours one had already popped and broken the surface. I've never experienced seeds germinate this quickly before. I suppose this indicates how fresh and viable the seeds are:

Within a further 12 hours the remaining 5 other seeds had broken the surface.

I did notice the "membrane" others had mentioned when germinating these recent testers. Two or three of the seedlings had not managed to shed the seed case when they broke the surface and appeared to have another layer of something covering the cotyledons within the seedcase.

This was however quickly remedied with a few drops of water on a pinhead applied to the seed case. After applying the water, the seed case and membrane inside it would soften and fall off within a few hours. I think the explanation for this may be that the taproot is so vigorous in these seeds that it pushes the seed case above the surface before it has enough time to fully soften. Once it breaks the surface maybe it dries out choking the cotyledons within?

Here's a picture of a seedling having recently shed the membrane:

Fast forward a week later and here they are on 4th July 2013 basking in the sun, six healthy seedlings:

The most vigorous seedling (the one that popped within 40 hours) now seems to be growing a slightly mutated first set of leaves, we'll see if she grows out of it or keeps the trait throughout. Did someone else running these sssdh hybrid testers experience a similar mutation?

I'll update as and when interesting stuff happens. The plan is to grow these big enough to take a decent batch of cuttings, root the cuttings then flower a cutting or two of each for selection.

Looking forward to seeing how everyone else gets on. It feels good to be part of something special here.

Peace

Hi toppin thanks for having a look.

They're fem seeds as the pollen used was from ojd's sssdh cut reversed.

Hey Piff Rhys Jones do you have any info you can share about your findings or did things not go so well for you? This is probably the most popular new fem cross but there is the least amount of info on it. If not, ojd could you chime in with some pics and descriptions of this cross.

What you want to know GSPfan...I tested this strain and ojd used my pic for strain. There were 2 full SSSDH phenos. 2 that were 50/50 mix, they looked like SSSDH but purpling and minty taste. The last 2 were both GSC dominant, more of a pastry sweet taste, no lemon from SSSDH. Overall they were great seeds. I even put one outside and out of 10 other strains she was the only one i kept for myself and so did my outdoor partner. High wise the SSSDH phenos were about equal to SSSDH but with little more stone. The best "super cookie" pheno that is used on Tude was like forum cut but with more yield and more upbeat buzz then forum.

Thanks for the info Pro Headies. That is a badass pic used on the tude. Quite the looker. Did you get a lot of stretching from the gsc dom phenos? Again thanks for posting. I am glad to hear some really positive results from this cross. It seems to have turned out as good as many people were hoping it would.

Hi bro. Unfortunately this seed run was aborted for reasons explained to ojd.

I was devastated at the time and will definitely be purchasing a few packs of this cookies hybrid to run once they are released to the public, documenting the results. I was very impressed with them the short time they were alive.

Peace

Thanks for words on pic but she did all the work. Stretching wise the GSC dom were the shorter of the 6, they were almost half the height of the SSSDH dom ones.

That must have been tough keeping an even canopy Pro Headies. Obviously the final product is worth it though.

Sorry to hear that Piff Rhys Jones. I hope everythings well and looking up. Judging by Pro Headies pic on the tude you really missed out. Best of luck on future endeavors.

8ft tall ceilings....lights hung around 7ft tall. Just had to stick GSC doms on a bucket to raise up equal to the SSSDH monsters...I prefer trees.
