back when I was in the navy I was in the dry docks across from settle Washington for 10 days .. cross the bay , I was one of the lucky ones and I got one day to go on shore leave . so I got 4 or 5 hours to find some weed and get high ...I took the fairy to settle and when I got there , started walking up this big hill , a block up the hill I saw a 15 year old skateboarding ,ha kid come here , you know where I can find some smoke , he said the only person he knew that had any was this biker two blocks up ....but he did not sell the weed he had . I said let me talk to him ..two blocks up the hill on the right second floor . there was a Harley chain to a post , a big 71or 72 Electra guild all chromed out ,some would think it was a 76 or 77 but the brakes were different on the 71 and 72 ..

he said one was his main mother plant a Matanuska thundera some called it Alaska can thunder fuck . but he said its real name was Matanuska thundera ..and he was breeding the strain for over a year ... she was almost dry on the stalk , he said I can only cut maybe one bud she is a rare mother plant .. I said any is better then none ...he said is $60 to much i need gas money to go to Alaska ...I said Alaska that cost a little more dude that Harley is not like my 1300 Goldwing i threw $100 on the bed and said lets do it .. he lol said thanks dude . what's your name anyway ...i said i am Tazz11 ,but my friends call me Apollo ,that's a odd name . no . my brothers all have names of astronauts ,my dad was a USAF he named them and i have his meddle name so i don't so they started nicknaming me Apollo , he said that's a cool name Apollo 11 . i was going to say no its just Apollo but he started to cut up the bud ... and we talk for a 1/2 hour ,he told me how he wanted to put this mother plant in his rain coat and set it on his lap and ride to Alaska in a rain storm ,, i said he sounded nuts and he lol and rolled two joints . the first one we smoke about 1/3 of it and i put it in the ash tray . and stood up . i was very high and said . your right that is some of the best i ever smoked ... and said i got to go , he said thanks for the Gas money dude . i said thank you i would still be walking up this big a** hill looking to get high ...lol he said his name was Gary ...and i said nice to meet you gary ..shook hands and i walked away .
i know what 5 plants that were in that closet were . i don't know if that was a grimm , he never gave his last name and i was a 2lt of a gang so i never ask ..
but i can tell you something i could make this strain base ,i know for a fact i can .. i just don't grow any more ....
he was honest to me and i never wanted to give away his strain info ...until the later 90's i did not know there was Grimm brother's ...i don't know if he is still out there ... he was just a biker dude named Gary breeding plants in a small closet grow, he did say one thing i found interesting . when i took the first hit . i said i had smoked a strain a weeks before that tasted very close to that and he ask where , i told him a old biker friend had a mother plant a little bigger then his and he said that was the mother of his plant ,that guy i knew ...smoked with a few times ...we thought it was odd that i had smoked the mother of his plant ,,what are the odds of that he said ... and yes i can confirm what i said here ...
Matanuska thundera is still one of the strongest weeds i ever smoked .

i was there in February of 1979,,,,i guess his brother lived out side of Anchorage ....

a few weeks ago i was going threw strain bases , and i ran across a phenol type that matches the mother i saw ,i think i can back cross it easy knowing what the mother and father strains are ..
i just don't grow any more so it dose not matter really..
i think Gary was a Grimm , the other 2 mother's in that closet match the strain bases of the Grimm brothers
Gary would be about 55 or 56 now and still riding chromed out Harley big boys ,,,,most likely still living in the settle area ...
