"...has been one of the leading seed breeding companies since 1996" Sounds not really true.

They changed a lot of their pictures on their home site. The only two that remain the same are the Lemon OG and Bubba

Read carefully...:)

Just as G13 labs stole racos pic, other companies have done the same thing. Attitude, DNA and the list goes on. All they do is rename them and claim they are thier own. Also, we have breeders that pay advertising here so it isn't right to give others free advertising, when in many instances they have scammed someone's work....

I heard this was happening when he won with the kaia kush or whatever... I was hearing about how he was just using others work and selling it as his own.!

Man, the seed industry seems to have seriously gone downhill in the last 15 years... There are a ton more seed companies these days but a lot of them seem to be using straight scumbag tactics to fool unsuspecting customers.

Luckily it's not too difficult to suss out who's the real deal and who's faking it, with some research. Still plenty of good breeders out there.

It's just painful to see cowards like apothecary pretending like other people's hard work is their own and profiting off of it without conscience. :bandit:

wow, just got 5 "lucky dip - mixed regulars" from apothecary as freebies (bought a pack of mothers milk by bodhi :dance013:). i was curious, now i'm not sure i wanna pop 'em... btw thank you guys from overseas: for us (i'm italian) it's really tricky to understand how people are running their business in cali or other serious MJ places... for instance i was really etusiast of caliconnection (i admit i have a buddha tahoe og cut and love it :)), but after reading how swerve is running business... :) ciao! :tiphat:

Hey guys. I am growing Banana O.G. from Apothecary right now, still in early bloom, but looking and smelling nice so far. If I'd heard the allegations of shadiness before ordering these it still would've probably not dissuaded me from ordering, as they seem to be the only place to even buy a straight banana og in seed form, and I've had dreams of growing this strain since the nineties, and I agree with my friend above that it doesn't matter where it came from if it's a good genetic. I'll post in this thread again in 7-8 weeks with a smoke/grow report.

Hey guys. Well, as promised, I'm back with a grow/smoke report on Apothecary genetics Banana OG. I have 2 or 3 phenos (still need to sex the third plant) The first pheno is a fairly quick vegging 50/50 indica/sativa cut if judged by leaf width nice hybrid look to it, not too stretchy, maybe a fifty percent increase in height after the onset of bloom, nice dense bud formation with huge calyxes covered with maybe the densest coating of trichomes on any strain I've ever grown out of dozens of varieties, this may win the frost award. The buds were small on this first plant but I was using too old of a bulb, I've now changed it and am running more, will give an update on bud size later. The smell is somehow subtle yet intense at the same time. A very mellow tropical fruit salad dominated by banana, with the dankest piney OG aftertaste that you'll be tasting at the back of your throat for minutes afterward. The high hits immediately, and is very strong, while at the same time not being a total couch lock. The duration of the effects is also quite good as they last for 2-3 hours, depending on how heavy a smoker you are/what time of day it is/etc. Easy to grow, found zero hermies, makes a decent yield of phenomenal full melt bubble hash from the sugar leaf... In short, a strain I've been waiting to grow for some time, and thankfully, it didn't disappoint. This is definitely a keeper for me, and I'm flowering out the second pheno (more stretch, different bud structure, identical smell) right now and will have a report up on it in just a few more weeks. My camera situation sucks, but I'll have a friend with a nice cam help me get some decent pics to put on here as well, I'll try to get that done soon.
Cheers,
Grow your own.
Grow in peace.

Generally, asking about a competing businesses on someone's site will yield you answers like the ones you got

apothecary are not rip off artists. It really isn't that hard to get an og kush clone and make some crosses

I maybe wrong about this, but I do not believe Apothecary's og was a clone, because they used a male. They came from my boss and mentor, who along time ago had crossed og kush clone with lemon pledge, and has been inbreeding for several generations choosing the og kush dominant phenos. By now it's basically a pure sfv og, it's called Joe's OG Kush look it up on **********, this is seedform and it's a great cultivar, enhances anything it is crossed to and may I remind is also the father to many of Apothecary's cup winners. If any error was made in marketing department, doesn't mean it was a breeder's fault because Joe does really good work and I am sure if he worked with Brett, then Bret had the fire as well. Bret also has a confirmed cut of Chem, I really would pay alot of money for that cut. I am running right now Lemon OG, all phenos are basically dominating even the "elite" clones in the same room we got traded for at the cup. I have seen both the Lemon Kush and the OG Kush ibl parents and the Lemon OG was definately a successful cross. I'll post finished pictures and keep yall informed if anything happens like hermies...but I'm 20 days into flower and smooth sailing so far. 9/10 germ rates and 4/5 female on average from what I have seen so far.

Oh on the lemon OG, I have 2 lemon head candy smelling phenos, 1 I call the "dead body" pheno, and my favorite is the fruity pheno. The smell kind of reminds me of Blackberry kush in a way, but more fruity punch as I don't think blackberry kush is a very high odor plant like the lemon og. It's pretty much the rarest pheno I've found so far out of many plants, and if it's as good as I think it is I am definately going to begin inbreeding, since I have for been searching for a fruitier kush.

Sorry, took a little longer to get this up than l planned (that's what he said) but here is my completed review of my cut of Apothecary Genetics Banana OG. Aside from the pheno I originally reviewed, I ended up with two others, which I labeled #3 and #4 (#2 was a male) The #3 made some decent smoke, with a smell and flavor much like my first phenotype, but not quite as intense, not as good trichome coverage, kinda like the difference between drinking a Budweiser and a Bud light, very similar experience, just a bit watered down. So not a keeper like the first one. I'm flowering out a number 4 right now. Stretchy pheno with huge fans, but it seems a bit sparse in bud structure and the smell doesn't seem to be there, so unless she's a really strong finisher, it looks like the first phenotype will be my lone keeper. Which is fine, as it is as fire a strain as I have come across. And I'm happy to report after the first plant having small buds, I replaced my old bulbs as promised, and the next Banana OG's I grew made massive colas and nice chunky lowers, so while this pheno doesn't seem to get very big or stretch much, she yields just fine for her size, is very easy to trim and considering the quality, I'm super happy to have this cut. I'll leave you with my final analysis and some super frosty pics of this strain from my latest harvest. Grow in peace.
Apothecary Genetics Banana OG
Ease of growth: 5 out of 5
Potency: 4.5 out of 5
Yield: 3.5 out of 5
Leaf/calyx ratio: 5 out of 5
Bag appeal: 5 out of 5
Aroma: 4.5 out of 5
Flavor: 5 out of 5
Duration: 4.5 out of 5
Tolerance: 5 out of 5
Strong Indica effect, flavor is a banana dominated tropical fruit salad with strong persistent Pine Sol/Lemon Pledge aftertaste. High resin content, great for pressing rosin. Can be an all day smoke if you're a heavy puffer, but many will consider it a nighttime strain.

Pics in next post.

One more quick update on the Banana OG. I mentioned in my earlier review that it made a nice quality and quantity of nice melty bubble from the sugar leaf, but I just did a fresh frozen whole plant run and figured I'd let you know how it performed and share some pics. It's difficult to tell exactly how much dry weight a fresh frozen run would've amounted to, but if I'm really generous, I figure this run amounted to maybe 2 ounces of bud with the sugar leaf still on, and no way to know till I dry it and weigh it, but I would guess I yielded 5-7 grams of first run full melt, depending if you count the 45μ or not, but it looks like full melt under the scope as well. So if my math is close, that's about a 10%-12% return, plus the second run, which should yield something like a gram of killer rosin once I squish it, makes for a respectable whole plant run that I plan on repeating, many times over. Oh and the quality, you ask? I personally prefer a 5 star hash rating scale, but if ever a hash were to be properly labeled 6 star, this hash should be. Ridiculous melt, and the intense and insane flavor has to be tasted to be believed. Outstanding hash strain. 1st picture is a look at the first run hash in the drying box second is a close up of the 73/90μ hash (I used the true 73μ method i.e., removing the 90μ bag from the stack) the third is a close up of the 120μ hash. Look and salivate.
