Definitely took some figuring out to get my concentrates to where they are now. A hell of a lot of trial and error. Enough time to get the right equipment and enough error to figure out how to not do things! I've tried a thing or two but the most important rule is still "good in, good out" :) Always trying to get em better, next step I think is dewaxing without using alcohol.

Man you wouldn't believe some of the oil we see around here. Big balls of black death-wax that make you hack just looking at em.

'snappy taffy' is the consistency is prefer, just malleable enough to work with easily.

i ran wet material this weekend, its stinking harder than it does with the dry material, but it throws that green tinge when its wet. its also fresh outa parchment paper, which leaves an impression 'til its been open for a min.

Hi,

I did not read all the post as it is pretty long one.

My question is : Is it good to end up with oil hard as glass??

Here's a picture.

I dont really like that consistency. Every time you try to get something on the dabber a chunk breaks off and its easy to lose.

Pull snap like that errl Tc posted is easier to work with.

I'll let y'all know this evening... lol...I'm going to run a zip of some stuff I believe to be older bubble...I'm going to powder it and blow my butane into a mason jar and mix them in a larger thermos for the extraction... I just ran 14g of beautiful drier flowers And it turned out wonderfully... after I winterized I ended up a little over 2 g...

Bubble hash makes some nice erl if it is good bubble to begin with. GW has run some through a Terpenator MkIIIA and gotten some killer blond cotton candy shatter, although lacking in some terpenes (due to the original water extraction). Yield was pretty good too, something like 60% return.

I'm a Mason jar quick soaker, and my experiment with low grade, hard as a rock bubble resulted in yucky muck. The oil was dark, and smelled like the inside of an old washing machine, probably what they ran the bubble in... I have no doubt top grade bubble works, but anything less and I think you'll pick up any off notes in the starting material. Here's a video of how to do a quick soak Mason jar extraction,

http://youtu.be/VTVRYk0Zdg4

Two coffee filters are plenty. I do a second soak and pour off to the same evaporating dish, here's how... The ring is removed after the first pour off, and the filter paper is pushed down into the jar. More butane is then squirted into the jar, and the top is again covered with fresh coffee filters and the sealing ring. The jar is then vigorously swished, the butane will wash through everything in the jar, but little to none will splash up on the filter paper, no problem. Pour off. I've done up to four soak and pour offs of the same material, waste of time and butane imo, and you start to get an electric green tint.

I use about a 300ml can per ounce of ground nuggs for the two soaks. Using the volume indications on the side of the wide mouth quart Mason jar I squirt about 150ml for the initial soak and the rest of the can for the second.

I figured it would take on the taste...the effects are very nice of the starting material...I figured I'd winterize if the taste was off...I wonder of while you purge the winterized product if you could in theory add an amount of really tasty stuff to it towards the very end of the purge, dissolve it and see if it takes on any of the aromatic properties of the non winterized wax I mix in
