The Yogurt Cup SOG

Chopped and trimmed this morning ... not bad from a few yogurt cups ... have to see what it ends up as dry.

sf: No issues with root space. My biggest issues are height and the associated stress/scorch on the leaves. Still a fun little project!

So here's the final for the first group. A healthy half-zip ...

These are down to 60% RH and are now curing ...

Not sure the trend will continue at quite that level, but we'll see.

Nice work WC! Did you allow time for a flush or were they gobbling up everything you threw at them?

I'm hoping for a return...and a link to the new grow.

Respectable numbers.

Was a fun ride man.

Stay safe.

And I swear I'm not following you wild...you just seem to have good taste in threads lol

Thanks for the kind words all! This box is perpetual, so I've already cut another 4 plants that are trying and that trend will continue until I decide otherwise. If you read through the earlier part of the the thread you'll see I"m now just putting 3 a week in, so the numbers will probably drop a bit, but I still hope it will through out close to a 1/2z/week, definitely north of a third anyway.

All that said, I likely will abandon *this box* ... just doesn't have enough height for me, the plants are too much work and have too much stress in there. The yogis will continue in a slightly larger and improved cabinet sometime over the holidays.

Good looking grow man, really inspired me & made me actually sign up haha. What did you do as far as smell? I saw the fan you used but no scrubber on it, is smell not an issue for you? Also, how many holes do you have on the bottom of the cups?

Oddly, smell has not been an issue ... that's been a strain selection thing more than anything. White Rhino (at least my pheno) doesn't really smell like anything ... C99 smells like grapefruit but still light. I have the stuff to throw on a carbon filter if needed, but so far not so much. I think plant size is also a consideration, with them this small there's not enough biomass to create a real stink.

I will say that I popped a couple GDP OG Kush --- those things absolutely *reeked* at 6" in *veg* ... they went into compost :/

As for holes, I think I put 8 using a 15W soldering iron in each one.

No pics yet, but I have changed the cabinet out. Original one just didn't have enough height to keep the plants happy, I'm now using two larch plastic buckets, one inverted over the other -- everyone much happier now. Setup continues to through just about 1/2 zip / week. Not bad for some little plants.

Why would you get rid of something that smelled?

We all work within constraints ... odor control is an issue for everyone, I choose to deal with that by growing low odor and pleasant odor strains. Can also throw filters and ozone generators at it. I elect not to for what I'm trying to achieve.

A plant that stinks at 6 inches in veg is going to be a real handful when in flower ... not for me.

So how much work was it to keep all these girls happy? I mean, how much time did u spend each day with watering etc?

Took about 20 minutes a morning to water .. kind of a pain.

Also, if you read back, I've mentioned more than once the cab needed to be taller -- lots of heat stress and scorch on the upper leaves. I've since changed the cab to be quite a bit taller and they are much happier. Also found that the younger plants in the cab only need water every 2 days, so watering is faster now too.

So now down to 10 min/day for maintenance ... but I have *zero* room for error, if I miss a day I'd have a bunch of dried up plants.

Fun experiment, but I think I'll bump up the container size some too -- 16oz soda/water bottles maybe.

I started with yogis because I started it with the start of the last Yogurt Cup Challenge, though it would be fun to see what could be done in production with yogis.
