250w HPS users....

Is there a difference between the airiness of a 400 watt and a 250 or 150 watt, or do they all rank the same.?

I know there's a huge difference when you jump to 600 and 1,000. I can get the right buds on a 400 watt as tight as a 600 watt. Within I'd say 30%.

Anyone care to comment on how many seeds you can make from a 250 watt or 150 watter?

When I used a 250 I averaged between 200 - 250 good seeds. That's with other plants in the room. If you devoted the room to one large plant or multiple plants could be much more I imagine. If you had 4 plants it would be about a 1000 seeds. That's leaving the male in the room and dusting everyday, saturating the plant.

Cool, man. That's about what I guessed.

I did 800 seeds from 8 plants and a 400 watt lamp. So I was guessing about 40% or 50% of that.

Hey all! Stepping back into the ring here. My buddy just left me his dr60, 250w switchable, fan and filter. Stoked to get things goin again. I'm going to run jacks cleaner2, with a scrog.

Need to catch up on y reading in the 250w club.

These four ladys are female seeds pure ak, fist pic is after transplanting into the buckets, 2nd pic is 57 days from seed and just switched to flowering will post you an update when the buds are coming along!

Hey all. So I got my dr60 installed in my closet, fan, filter and light all set up. I just need a circulation fan and I'll be fine. I just got a cut of OG wonder frona good buddy of mine, and going to utilize scrog and hempy for this baby! It's good to be back, and even better now with my wife behind me on this grow. She was not on boad back then, but is now ready help in the garden.


Setup is as follows:

Dr60- 24-24-55 (inches)
Lumatek 250-400 dimmable ballast
400w Phillips hps lamp,
120cfm 4 inch fan
Phresh filter

The nutrient refimine I will be using is the good old fashioned Lucas formula.

I've always used lst over a scrog for plant mobility, but I may have a change of heart with the OG, as I hear it can become quite lanky in flower.

This is my first hempy grow, so I'm excited to see what I can do with a little more knowledge and watts.

Hi! I was thinking of buying 400W hps with cooltube but after watching all these pics, I think 250w is enough for my use Currently vegging 3 NL seedlings under 200w CFL in 60x60x165cm tent. (My first grow ever)

Question: 250w with, or without cooltube? and is 250m3/h rvk fan + 300m3/h Rhino filter ok for this setup?

For personal use I'd recommend a 250 with a cool tube over one square meter scrog with just one plant. Let the screen fill 1/3 to 1/2 maximum before switching the light back. Northern Lights will go crazy for the next 3 weeks so don't let it go too far or it will be unmanageable. Done properly with a hydro setup this should produce 4-6 oz. every eight weeks or so. I have a twenty gallon reservoir with an eight inch mesh basket containing clay pellets sitting in the lid, a circulating pump and three air bubblers below. Nothing could be simpler. Don't have the light too close at first, but ease into it...pulley systems are nice for this. After the plant gets used to the new environment the buds will grow right up to the cool tube. If you're concerned about odor Northern Lights is a great choice, as is Blue Mystic. My experience is that with adequate ventilation neither strain is noticeable with a garden this size. Bonsai mother plants work nice for small gardens.

And like e24 states above, I'd recommend the Lucas Formula. I use GH micronutes and flowering but very little veg. I've tried to keep it simple by keeping the nutrients in spray bottles and measuring by keeping track of how many squirts I mix into a gallon. I usually do the same thing with h2o2, just a squirt or two of concentrate mixed into a gallon-but be careful with that stuff because it will burn you! A truncheon and a good ph meter are critical, not optional. Be proactive about preventing pest infestation by spraying your grow area...not the plants...with a neem oil solution. Using a system like I just described minimizes the risk of flood disasters, will allow you to go three or even four days without checking on the plants, and you'll never, ever, run out of weed. Hopefully I've just saved some new growers a lot of time.

I've recently started buying some Hydrofarm digital 250's to hang bare throughout my larger gardens to boost the light in some of the darker zones. I've had horizontal 250's for yrs and they're great so I started using these verts with HPS and MH bulbs and so far I've had excellent results, booming growth esp down low. They were working so well I bought 4. The Hortilux daylight MH 250 has been doing wonders in my veg room. I've used these bulbs for a long time but never bare vert like this. Very useful indeed!

i have 50x90x160 tent, 185 m3/h for exaust, one 100 mm 3w PC fan between lamp and plants without cool tube, and my lamp is like 15 cm from plants. also use few 100 mm PC fans to mix air inside. temps on the tops of plant are 29 C, but outside is also still warm.

i dont like cool tube for smaller lamps than 600w..is pointless..

if is too hot, just use exaust bathroom fan, and attach flex tube near the lamp..same effect! better to spend money on few small oscilating fans than a cool tube.
