safes/lock boxes

so I couldn't find an existing thread with this topic... and wasn't sure where the correct place to post was so I figured it would be safe in the toker's den...

what kind of safes/ lock boxes do you guys have?

I am sure some of you have huge gun safes lol

I don't need one that big but I am looking for a good recommendation on something good quality that has decent volume without being too crazy expensive...

what store is the best to browse the options?

I prefer to hide than lock. Lock boxes are sooo easy to break into and as easy to take away.

Ideally, both hidden and locked would apply, but I have to agree that hidden is much better if it's gotta be one or the other. The ultimate way to do it is to have a safe cemented into the foundation of your house or basement, then keep it covered by carpet or whatever. But I've seen people stash in walls, in the hollow space inside of cinder blocks, the old fashioned pirate way of digging a hole in the dirt (don't draw a map of it though, lol!). You just gotta be creative.

I like that idea, but it better be a deep pond. I have also seen water tight tubes for guns. Suppose you can put anything in there. Cash, a kilo of your finest bubble hash, passports, so on.

I've hidden pipes in house plant's soil. Hiding high is also a good idea, people rarely look up. If someone find out you have something hidden, they won't think to look up. Tree's sometimes have a hallow space, something that owls like.

I use Pelican cases or hardigg . They are secure, available in a variety of sizes.

good call supe, I keep guns in a bolted down Liberty gun safe, documents and some other stuff in my small Sentry safe (also bolted to a log wall) and my cash on hand is stashed in books scattered here n' there in my home but in places where no guest of mine might look or reach, thieves don't touch books unless they know for sure.......

Hiding is definitely a better option. If you can find a dope hiding place, you're golden. Especially if you've succeeded in hiding the scent, with something like a Deodorizer Bag.

If people can't find it, you have nothing to worry about. But, as with a safe, if someone finds it they just get CRAZY curious, safes are harder to move, and unless you're willing to spend a pretty penny, they're not hard to break into.

The most expensive safe is only a small plasma cutter and an outlet away from being opened. Only the truly dumb crook would dick around with hardened locking bolts, relockers, and such. Just cut the damn top off, and be done with it.
That said, how often does that happen? I sold safes for 10 years, in the gun biz, and never, ever saw one opened. The only way they got jacked, and I only hear of one, was a few strong backs toting the whole thing out of a guy's garage, loading it in the truck, and driving away.
A couple large bolts, or concrete anchors would have prevented that!

How long would the average dick stand there prying, and screwing around with a safe door. All the while, in the back of his meth'ed out head, a little voice is calling "Hey, the safe is cool, but what if ONE gun isn't in there, and the homeowner comes back?"
I have a Sentry brand safe. It's thin metal on the sides, but has 3 active bolts, and 3 passive. It's fire rated for 20 min at 1200f, and holds 10+guns, more if you are careful. It's bolted to the wall, with limited access to the sides. (Makes it impossibly to pry off)
I think I paid $379 for it, on sale.
Hiding is good, but has it's limits. Suffice to say, all but one are in my safe

Depends on your circumstances. Hidden wall or floor safes are good if you own your own home & are handy enough to install them yourself.

Otherwise, you want something big enough & heavy enough that it's highly inconvenient for burglars to haul it off.

I agree with the decoy safe. No safes are secure...even less so when there is a gun in your wife's/children's mouth.


Watch it with the fish tank though...depending on size. I haven't seen a raid/robbery where the fish tank didn't get flipped.

Buddy of mine was raided 5 years ago or so. Had just established a nice 100 gallon salt water tank. Pigs dumped all of his fish food/chemicals into the tank and then proceed to flip/kick it off of it's stand.

Just a heads up.. if you're implying that your hidings are within the tank/beneath the gravel.. it's likely not as safe as a spot as you might think.

Local hardware shop. Better value than the safe company down the road.

Safes just slow people down. If it isn't bolted, it's worthless. They'll take it to go, and work on it elsewhere.

That literally just happened with a neighbors son. Safe deposit box for your cash or bury it on public land if you believe the banks won't last. But don't get your penis cut off.

The cash got given up. Shotgun to the child's head for multiple hours. 3 men with guns. They almost tried to rob me that night accidentally. They were after the house next door, but pretended to work for a utility company 3 hours earlier and came to our door. Well, my friends neighbor, so his door.
