The Goji Hunt

So we gave been able to acquire 44 beautiful lil beans of Goji. To begin this treasure hunt we have popped half of them as of right now with 21/22 germinating successfully. the experiment is to go through and find the 2 main keeper Phenos--the bigger yielding OG dominant strain, and the smaller strawberry flavored one-- as well as hold on to the best males\'s pollen out of the bunch for later use. Possible bx or use with some other genetics in the garden. There is also the possibilities of keeping another female pheno that pops up as we hope to have a somewhat decent range given the 44 beans to pick through. All female keepers will be culled as moms for later runs.

I have seen nothing but fantastic things in everyones grow whos ran goji but have yet to see a large scale run of it, say 50~100 beans. Im sure the genetic diversity of that run would be interesting if everyone is as satisfied with their 10 pack findings as they say.

Below are a few pics of the 21 seedlings the first 11 popped 9/17 and the second batch 9/23. Planted into ~1:1 ratio prmoix Biofungi/Vermifire and fed only pH'd RO water to thsi point. They are currently under a 2'x4' 8bulb t% fixture 14" away from the seedling canopy.

Would definitely like to hear back from anyone who's ran her. Suggestions, habits, keeper pheno's you enjoyed, recommendations or even if your just excited to see how it turns out, the feedback is always welcome.

You should definitely make some F2's! Bodhi F2's are a treasure trove to dig through!

Very interesting FlaCaEnt, you got my attention.

What size pots do u plan on using when in flower?

I would love to do a nice sized seed/pheno hunt but always been put off by the amount of space needed unless i could run them in smaller pots and a shorter veg time.

Ps welcome to icmag mate

Goji F2's will definitely be in the future of this experiment. Looking to hopefully keep a solid male or two around if one is found for some other breeding projects as well.

We hit ******** to do some research after the suggestion, and was entirely too happy with what we were able to find. I was so surprised to find next to nothing on Goji here on IC, but i guess most all the werk done with it has been posted to ********; and a big thankyou to who ever it was that turned us onto that resource.

After going through the forums, the phenos we are hoping to find are the smaller strawberry pheno, Og totem pole pheno, and hopefully the Sharpie smelling pheno which seems to be a bit harder to get your hands on from seed. Finding all 3 would be a dream come true but we are happy just to be able to search through such an outstanding gene pool we will make whatever we find werk.

As for flower they will be in 10 gal pots and vegged for ~ 7 weeks. Roots organic on top of a 10% super soil for veg fed only RO water and occasional ACT's and then into 10 gals of super soil w/ buffer layer for flower again fed only RO water and ACTS

There shall be only 1 keeper. Especially out of 22. Pop the other 22 and choose only 1 from that one too. Choosing only the very best out of the 44 is how you progress the line, otherwise you're just making beans for yourself. I'm not talking shit but if you want to have the next best Goji's only use your finest female for beans. 2-5 for cuts but for beans only choose 1 female.

Sorry for leaving you guys hanging the last few weeks but its been busy over on our end. Finished setting up our reservoirs installed a water chiller, a new 100w mh in our veg room and just transplanted the 21 goji's last night into 3 gallon air pots filled w roots organic 707. Giving them a try for the first time and excited to see how they do. This will be the gojis only transplant of the run (solo cup to 3 gal air pots)

The gojis are looking phenomenal all around. there is definitely a variety of phenos as the split between taller lanky plants and shorter indica ones are right down the middle. We are very excited to get them into flowering and see what's really there. We are without a camera but Tuesday we will have pics of each one in their new homes. They will be vegged for ~4/5 weeks and flowered in the three gals as well. We were hoping to let them go untopped all the way through but due to time and space issues we will probably end up having to top at least once.

As of rt now it looks as if goji # and #7 are females and #1 is looking like a boy. The next few days will tell for sure and hopefully 11/21 will have shown sex by tuesday when we can upload pics and the rest within the next week or so. it has been 41 days since the beans hit soil for the older ones(phenos #1-11) of the bunch and 34 days for the younger (phenos #12-21) A few facts on the run:

Veg- 18/6 under 2 4'x2' t5 mixed spectrum.
flower- 12/12 under 1000w EYE hortilux. Plant count per light w be based on # of females.
soil used- Roots organic
nutes used veg- cannazyme, Fasilitor, Heavy 16 veg A&B, Heavy 16 Roots, Heavy 16 Prime, Heavy 16 Finish, Sea of Green, heavy 16 foliar feed
water used from here on out will be RO filtered @ 65F until the last few weeks of flower when it will be dropped.

Pics coming 10/22
