If you're suggesting that the latest temporary raise of the debt ceiling is a blank check for Obama to do whatever he pleases with then unfortunately you've bought into false propaganda. All Government spending is controlled by Congress, hence the saying "Congress controls the purse strings" The debt ceiling only covers the shortfall on spending that has already been approved. For Obama to spend any of the money perceived as available by raising the debt ceiling Obama would have to first submit his plans in the form of a budget and have it be approved by Congress. Then it would have to exceed money being taken in by the government every month before it would add on to the debt ceiling. Since the CR that everyone agreed to was the amount proposed by the Republicans which was far less then what the Democrats were asking for it's highly unlikely that Congress would approve anything that would directly add to the debt ceiling...except maybe a war, Republicans don't seem to mind running up the National Debt to go to war.

Yes it did, just like PBS and NPR also received a bunch of money from the government after the shutdown. You know why? Because those things were approved by Congress well before the shutdown.

Hunting, like farming, is an essential skill. However, once the real shit goes down, EBT fails for good, and the debit cards don't work, hunting will be of little value as time goes on. By the time the depression was over there was not so much as a sparrow or squirrel roaming freely in the East. Everything, everywhere that could be eaten had been fished or shot or gathered out of the fields and woods. When Great Smoky Mountain National Park was established there was absolutely no wildlife within it, which was a primary reason for establishing the park in the first place. Someday three hunters will converge on the last deer and shoot it out between themselves for the right to the last venison.
A drain on natural resources will happen when things get bad. Always does.
One thing to consider though, is that a much larger percentage of the US population lived in what would be called rural places vs. cities during the depression. Not so much anymore.There are less hunters and those who are skilled in the sport than there were back then and even less who have any real subsistence skills .
Seems that in most states the majority of the EBT crowd is in the cities nowadays. Most of them wont make it out when SHTF.
