to use a light mover or not

i had lightrail 3 s and i had problems sleeping when it ran . i just knew murphys law would come to play sooner or later. went back to permanently fixed lights with chains and i now sleep soundly.

What he said lol! I never ran them caz it just seemed like a PITA. You would probably be better off putting your tables on rollers and moving them slightly every day to get a similar effect.

Then why did you bother us with this thread?

Hav a nice day

Come on paladin, that's unnecessary. The man is asking a question in regards to adding a light mover. Whether he has his current grow dialed in is beside the point.

yerboyblue knows the deal....best thing you can do is put two barebulb lights on a cable attached to light mover with pulleys making them go up and down. Marlo has a setup like this in the Vertical forum.

as long as youve got enough space a light mover is a great idea

I meant your attitude is unnecessary, and it still is.
Well Sir. Since you have stated your displeasure with some of my other staterments and with Grindhouse I am not suprised by your opinion of my attitude.

But just for clarafication. My business is new growers such as the OP. He was given good answers from people other than myself, which he choses to ignore. In the real world he would have recieved the same tude. I'll help anyone who wants to listen. Don't wanna hear???? a sta la way go

1000 watts on a mover is less energy than 1200 stationary. It aint rocket surgery

I don't remember having ever voiced displeasure with you before paladin, and if you're gonna judge me for asking questions about grindhouse stock and their prices...what can I do about silliness like that? Good day, hombre :tiphat:

i didnt choose to ignore anything. new grower? excuse me sir, but i been growing for over 7 years. I ran a very successful house in the northeast and enjoyed every min of it (except when i got whiteflies) . I never used a light mover, never even looked into it prior to this thread. So maybe i had a lot of questions about it....so what! There are many many facets to growing...lighting, nutes, pests, mediums used, methods of growing, types of light rails, etc...so maybe i wasnt well versed in the light rail dept. just because i had no problems with my (3) 400w lights over 3 trays doesnt mean i cant find a more efficient method....its called progression and im always looking to get better and more efficient.
anyway,

thanks to everyone except paladin420 for their input.:blowbubbles: i love this site, and most of the members are really helpful.

Yeah evrything little trivial thing u change in ur lab needs to factor in the moving light an how it effects it , (tension on cords relative to travel etc) . I have been there lotta sleepless nights . After changing anything in ur lab , Monitoring the mover should be the last thing u do before walking out ur lab .

I'm really fucking intrigued by Marlo's vert light mover setup. That would look cool as hell, two vert bulbs just rotating around the interior of a vert stack.

so much to concern ourselves with everyday when growing, worrying about my light rail would just add to the weight on my scale of grow room responsibilities. i decided to stick with stationary lights. :thank you:

Clark, thanks for your input. I was thinking of getting a light mover, but know I will just use chains and "Sleep Soundly"!:tiphat: Thanks Guys.

From what i understand the light comes in at angles a bit so the middle and lower leafs get light then it goes over the top so the top leaves get light, but that key is you cant move your light to far maybe like 3ft or less is about right. also when more of the leaves are getting light and working for the plants that's what makes your yields better.

[FONT=&quot]A light mover will definitely cut down on hot spots and you get better use of your wattage because the light can move closer to the plant because it won’t over heat. Since the light is moving it gets in at every angle. The two part affect will create better yields. I’ve used LightRail by Gualala Robotics for 7 years now and their product has proven this science. light movers work best with a 3 foot rail. not a 6 foot rail.. for flower.. u want ur light to move no more then 24 inches.. I have a rail.. and wen I tried to stretch a 1000w.. over an area I use 2000w .. I had a horrible experience with it.. I started a smaller room.. to start experimenting... found that 24 inches max moving back an forth with a 1000w .. and less with less wattage.
