Thought after all the help you vert-ophiles gave it was only proper I post a thread to show how Bob (not his real name) and myself put your knowledge to use. Bob has never grown, ever whilst i haven't flowered indoors for years, preferring to veg indoors and flower outdoors. Bob literally spent hours going through the various forums and decided early on in the piece he wanted/liked the vert style...and who can blame him? After switching between going hydro or soil I encouraged Bob to go organic soil for ease of use ie just add water. Plus I haven't grown hydro for 15 or so years and didn't have any of the necessary tools, ingredients on hand meaning more $$$. Bobs main motivation for growing his own is to provide 'medicine' for his adult son who has numerous health (both physical and mental) issues.

After considering our options we went of dual 600 watt set up in a 2mx2mx2m tent. For ventilation we purchased a 30cm/800cfm inline fan with a small fan blowing air over the bulbs. Watering for now is done by hand but an automatic system will be set up in the near future. Hanging the bulbs one above the other we set up the exhaust directly above lights to facilitate as an efficient system as possible as heat will be a major issue. I am glad we went for digital ballats so we can control how much heat we generate. We are currently on 900 watts as 1200 creates too much heat. It is not that the fan can't handle it, it just makes way too much noise. Any suggestions on what is a quiter fan option would be appreciated.

Me and my grow bro donated 5 plants to the project, all which are relatively large as the set up took longer than expected. Bob has 2x NL#5, 1x mazari, 1xwhite widow and 1xkalichakra in the tent now and we went straight into 12/12 a couple of days after repotting. We purchased large pots about 35 litres in capacity. Things are running smoothly atm and the plants have adapted well but it has been less than a week so far.

spent much of the weekend setting up an automated drip watering system...what a PITA trying to get the flow rates adjusted...still not happy with it and Bob is keeping an eye on things so as not over/under water....

plants are going great guns...not as much vert stretch as expected though...should have bud sites in the next week or so....

blumats would solve your problem. if you have 12 plants or less u can get away with a single kit(about $75) and then some extra spaghetti tubing($?) and they water each plant only what they need once dialed in. i used to run them when i did soil or coco and they work amazing. take a few days to dial in but worth it.

do some reading on them and see if its worth it for you.

about 8 - 10 weeks....

yes i see blumats in our future...my main concern is having a runaway and flooding the room...

cheers guys...

runaways can mostly be prevented with a few simple steps. i like to pre soak my media heavily and then exactly 24 hours install the blumats. that way the soil/coco is at the right moisture content.

put good size saucers under each plant. if one is running you will know which one. this one got me bad. one flooded but i couldnt tell which one as they all soaked up stuff from the floor flood. as a redundant safety i also line a 2x4 frame of the grow room floor with a thick pond liner. cheap and could potentially save your ass.

lastly use a clean running nutrient AND drip clean from house and garden. i prefer jacks hydro now a days but i never ran it through blumats back then but it dissolves cleanly and you only feed at 600 ppm anyways so its pretty clean to begin with. any good nutrient will work as long as it doesnt leave a bunch of deposits.
NO ORGANICS with blumats. they will clog the shit out of the little thin tubing

thanks for the tips DH...will look more closely at it...Bob is running organic soil so will only be running fresh water through the system

shit, thats even better. no worries about clogs there. the best part is you can still feed with teas and whatnot just hand water them and the blumats will shut off until they are no longer too moist.

For a quieter inline fan, check out Elicent. I won't buy anything else!
looking into those fans....thanks for the tip

the more I look into it the better blumats become...might just have to get that set up soon...just waiting for some more coin

Looking forward to seeing how this thing goes! I always like to see folks dial in water-only grows.

whilst this is all new to Bob I have been growing this way for several years now with good results. will need to make some adjustments for the new strains we are trying as we have got some slight leaf burn on the mazari
