wtfn's 4000w legal medical soil food web organic grow show

I'm getting some leaf claw in about 10 - 15% of the plants. Maybe I amended too much N? On the entire mix I only used 2 lbs of blood meal and a few lbs of oyster shell (not powdered -- I used all the powdered stuff on last year's guerilla grow and only had pellets left) along with a few other things that were 2 or less for their N value.

But it would make sense. Their roots are filling out that bottom layer of super soil right now, just as bud development is starting to set in. They never really had a chance to use all that N down there. My bad. Hopefully with the next watering I can establish a fungal-dominant environment in there and limit some of the N fixing that's going on with the bacteria.

The good news is that I think my soil is finally done cooking :bis:

lookin keen in there bruh,,mine look the same wen I'm takin in too much N as well but come out of it after next watering without any nutes just strait water till growth is flush and beautiful..1 quart of grow big lasts about 1 yr.

Yeah, that seems like it's probably it. I'm still going to compost-tea them (yes I used that as a verb) to establish fungal dominance provided it's not already established.
It also could be due to the fact that I neemed them the other day a little too long before lights off (~2hrs?). Has anybody ever heard of this? They're not burned.

hmmmm...I'm brewing on setting up another vertical octagon after I get some extra cash...I have 2000 extra watts on my circuit -- 8000 more if I wanted to run a flip flop

Just gettin' the itch. I don't think I'd go back to aero for anything but a cloner. I mean, the growth was lightning fast and the plants looked great, but having to pray that my plants aren't dead every time I walk in the room wasn't doing any good for my nerves. This time I'll either run organic soil or some kind of medium (hempy? coco? rockwool?) with the heisenberg tea recipe, which I've heard is safe to use in hydro. Gotta have my organics. :tiphat:

Day 7 12/12

Update time!!

Everything's looking pretty good. I'm not really sweating the leaf claw too much. Flushing won't do me any good, and a minor nitrogen toxicity is not a concern of mine for this grow. I'm just trying to make it to the end successfully so I can plant my flag in the ground here and get another crop coming.

I LOVE the way this Sublime OG spreads out. I was afraid that I was making a mistake going without a screen but that canopy looks great for a POTG grow like this IMO. I can't stress enough how satisfied I am with their structure, after FIMing them all and topping all but 3 or 4. That was what the guy told me for growing indoor when I bought them.

I can't find any real information about the strain online, although I found it offered at a dispensary or two, all in OC, where I scored the clones. The closest thing I've found is called Candy Kush, which is also a Blue Dream x OG Kush cross. That strain has very good reviews, with a 20+% thc content. Some people said it was too strong for them.

So I'm not entirely sure what to expect with this strain, but it must be somewhere between Fire OG and Blue Dream, somewhat resembling Candy Kush. All of that seems like a good thing to me, although I worry about seriously screwing my yield if the OG genetics are dominant. I've never grown either of the two (welcome to California!) but I understand that Blue Dream is a fairly easy-to-grow, very high yielding plant, and Fire OG, like most OGs, is a finicky girl who will yield decently but only given the right conditions, which I'm sure I haven't so far. I've seen photos of a few other OG grows with the cal mg deficiency that looks exactly the same as my fan leaves, which would explain why my purple platinum OGs and 1 lemon OG look perfect and suffered almost zero discoloration whatsoever whereas the Sublimes all went to shit within a day or two on two separate occasions. Finicky is right. But it's what I'm growing next round, 100% of the room.

Here are the Purple Platinum OGs. They grow pretty slowly compared to the Sublime, but I imagine the quality and bag appeal are both going to be spectacular.

They're just starting to pucker up and develop some hairs around the bud site, but most of them still look like this.

Looking good and green in there. I wonder how often are you brewing tea.. D you use vermicom post in there? Are you checking the soil ph or ph of tea? Just curious or maybe a bit delirious

Do you think it's a calcium deficiency?

Right now in anticipation of plants needing watering I'm brewing a new 4 gal batch (4 gal water, 390ml vermicompost, 75ml hi brix molasses) every 48 hrs and tossing whatever's left in the veggie garden after that. I'm mostly using it to foliar spray, which seems to be helping the plants, at roughly the 12, 24, 36 and 48hr brewing time marks. After this next watering (any...minute...now...) I can lay that to rest for a while. Once the biology is well-established the need for compost tea is severely decreased. However, this is a new soil mix I'm using so I don't want to miss an opportunity to get it correctly-inoculated (fungal for flowering), and since a few of the clones/plants have suffered pythium or a similar pathogen, that's my #1 priority.

If you read back through the thread, you'll see that I've been having pH issues with the soil, so I've been checking the soil pH and the pH of the compost tea. Since I lowered my air conditioner a little and stopped adding myco to the mix the compost tea always pH's at 6.5-6.9. Even if I add myco to the mix and it drops to 5 or 5.5, it really shouldn't matter, since the soil itself should buffer the pH, provided that the soil is healthy.

And while I do think it's a cal/mg def that they were showing, it came with a phosphorous deficiency as well, and I attribute it solely to low pH caused by the soil still cooking.

their lookin healthier everytime yu pick, have some ns color in there.

Thanks, partly it's because the quality of the photos is getting better as the canopy fills in, but you hit the nail on the head. The plants are looking much better and greener as we go along.

That Sublime has me a little worried with the leaf curl and all the other crap that strain has displayed, but it should only continue to get better as my soil matures. Hopefully next round doesn't have so many speed bumps. If I like her, I'm going to keep her for a few runs until I really get to know her.

wow amazing bushes :)

good luck! and have fun bro'

haha, thanks. That happened surprisingly quickly. I thought these soil grows were supposed to be slow.

As of day 8, bud formation is definitely underway. :)

It's been almost 2 weeks since I've had to do anything to the plants. Sure, I've made plenty of compost teas and foliar fed the plants almost every day but I certainly didn't have to. I just found out I have to leave town for 3 days in November, so it sort of puts my mind at ease.

Can't wait to ride this one out... :skiiing:

Day 14

Update time!!

Everything's looking great! Things are going as well as I could hope. I gradually turned the a/c back up to 84 from the low 70s and the plants seem to really like it.

Here are the PPKs. They exploded with growth over the last week, and pretty much caught up with the Sublimes.

This is the same branch from the last update:

Here are some shots of a few individual plants. These are pretty typical of the average plant in the room. The tops are mostly around 23 - 25" from the soil, with the tallest top being 26".

This is a really good sign!

There's still no smell in the room. I don't know if that's because of the carbon filter, or if these plants just don't develop a smell until later down the road. The stalks all give off a very piney sativa odor, very reminiscent of the chocolope from my 2000w journal, but the buds don't seem to carry any odor at all yet.

They aren't taking well to higher temps (~83-85) even with CO2. I think it has something to do with the composting soil going anaerobic at those temps. For now I'll keep it at 78 max.
