I Love coco but DWC is such a freak

My second grow in Cali
-40 5gallon lowes buckets arranged vertically
-4 Kilowatts of High Pressure Sodium
-each bucket will have double air stones will buy an industrial air pump soon
-GH 3 part nukes, Floralicous plus, Humboldt roots,

-currently wanting for the last few clones to take root in my EZ cloner.

- the genetic for this grow will be the infamous GSC hardorside cut.

also in the process of throwing away over $200.00 worth of coco because the hardest thing about growing in this style is water each site..... Im a lazy stoner and I hate watering and with DWC you just fill, add and go.. plus higher yields... win, win, win,

Desert Hydro- yelp I may try CL but Im impatient and easy to piss off... I might just do a gorilla grow in SF...

Ichabod Crane- that sounds nice too hmm.... I could do the same with buckets after I connect them all together and fill with water with airstones in the bottom...
Do you get good results from that setup?

Yes I have kale, spinach, chard and carrots in them. I mixed it with 20% napa floor dry and 40% peat moss. Tossed in some green sand, dolomitic lime, and a little ferilizer. I have a bed that is 4X8 that is 2/3 kale and can't keep up with it. Crazy how fast the kale grows. I fill the sub resevior about every 2 weeks.

Best thing is I can make a new bed when ever I want and my nieghbors don't have a clue I am reusing my grows left over coco.

Oh and I made some buckets for my brother for tomatoes and the things went crazy. They are simple to make just google sub irrigated planters (SIP)

Mista D - Thanks for holla, Ive been learning from your shows and I hope I measure up and keep the locals happy

update- still wanting on the last Girl Scouts to root, they are notoriously slow rooters, kinda reminds me of the way SourBubble in terms of its woodiness and fickleness. Ive threw away about 20 cutting because of stem rot and leaf decay after 2 weeks in the EZ cloner 120 but I know she moves at her own pace..
GSC is like a pretty girl, she bitchy, throws tantrums, is late when you pick her up, jealous of other bitches...... but when she opens her legs... ITS ALL WORTH IT!!

ok so theres a change in plans... mission creep..... im going to add bubble wands at the bottom of each bucket, this will allow less need to water and should aid in yield since each plant will be sitting in its own nuke bath.... coco /DWC hybrid

you got me...ive been procrastinating and smoking , then smoking and procrastinating, then engaging in long deep thought on the issue..... and I figured im much too lazy to carry out and dispose of this much coco without people noticing........ just use it...

this is what the job of growing is.. identifying the problem ..defining whats causing the problem then taking steps to solving the problem...then keeping the project moving forward and on schedule... then seeking out more problems always a continuous process aways moving forward...

man!.. grommets are hard as shit to use..

man!.. grommets are hard as shit to use..

ok.. ive built the two towers featuring 16 DWC per side with 5 coco buckets on top. the most difficult part of this build was attaching each grommet to its bucket. It has taken me the entire Labor Day weekend to make 12 buckets, and I still have 8 more to do!!

My mother always said if you try to get something for nothing youll never have anything... I tried to cut cost by buying those bullshit Lowes buckets but they are soo thin they split and crack around each grommet hole... ended up tossing 10 5 gallon buckets... will only buy the black thick walled bucket from now on, 5.56 each but worth it..

for added security will apply a thin bead of sealant around each grommet tonite. will let stand for 48 hours then fill and leak check.

estimated TAKE OFF around mid Sept.

updated #5

Im almost finishing with the last of the plumbing and leaking checks. The most challenging task when building a recirculating vertical system Ive found is getting the water returns for each level just right.
I will build a third tower holding 6 more buckets, making a semi circle of the lite source. pics coming soon.. theres no rush... prep is always the most work when growing herb both indoor and outdoor!! for every 1 hour of prep there is a 15% increase in yield and 20% increase in quality!

mo pics.... hopefully the assholes in congress wont do anything crazy and send my VA check Oct1, with which I will purchase
25 netpots
10 bags on lava rock
1 1200 gpm water pump

then I will transfer clones to their final home and begin Veg...

waiting on my crazy check from the VA!! hopefully I wont have to go on a rampage of killing and torture....

just kidding..... the voice in my head doesn't like how I torture.......

million dollar grow dreaming....

hey now, best wishes on your grow. I found that using square buckets like kitty litter or storage tubs with these fittings to be a leak free system. they are for exterior electrical conduit and carried at the bigger home improvement stores.
picture.php

clamp scrap wood behind the plastic and drill with a high quality hole saw or forstner bit for best results. deburr hole carefully. dry floors.

Thanks Chunkypig, but I've already leak checkd
Bad news, was about to transplant all clones into the system when I get a letter in the mail stating my annual apartment inspection is set for Friday!! I broke everything down and removed all Grow equipment, dont want to chance anything. However i did gain valuable information for the build and i will upgrade in areas that were lacking. Will order 20-3 inch uniseals and will use 8 tubs instead of buckets. Instead of 3 teirs i will use only 2. Not as manys parts so fewer chances of something leaking!! I hate leaks with a passion...
Will still burn 4 k, AC cool sealed room..
high lumens means high yeild
