Hey hey,
I am a lover of the funk...whos not? If you love the funk you gotta love some RKS. So as soon as these were available to me..I jumped on them. I am therefore ahead of most of the testers. Due to space restrictions only 3 of 10 were wet, and all three split quick and were put in my own organic mix. This was and will be a living organic grow, by the way. Under 420w LED

3 distinct females began to present themselves along the way in veg (yeah 3 gals, btw a friend has a male in his greenhouse that we shall be playing f2 games with soon).. varying from a classic Christmas tree shape to an Indica totem pole, with one in.between. At this point the indica had the strongest skunk smell upon drawing one's hand up the stem. This was obvious in all 3 however.

They were potted into the final 25L containers w a custom parfait style amended organic mix (hot bottom, airy but substantial middle, kick ass vermi/compost/coco top layer)..I plan on going start to finish w just the addition of a tea or 2.

Fast forward....
The Christmas tree went into flower a couple weeks before the other 2, due to it's larger size at the time, and my anticipation of a healthy stretch, The other two went in together a couple weeks later, all untopped to see how they like to naturally fill out.

The Christmas Tree is almost 3 weeks into flower at this point. It appears to have just over doubled in size and is stoppping its stretch.. There are powder puffs formed about the size of garbanzo beans at this point...smell is minimal, boo hoo. I am not worried though as some of the stinkiest are tame out of the gates...right? Not much visible trichome action yet either. BTW, this plant is very open in leaf coverage and nodeing, all sites will be receiving aple LEDage.

The other two are about a week deep, as expected the indica pole has barely stretched, and the other is about mid between the other two.

Not much else to say yet. I will be updating soon as soon as the other two start to pistil up a bit.

Im doing Med's RKS #2 and I am basically seeing the same thing, 2 or 3 pheno's, 1 like a mini xmas tree plants, the other an indica pole that does not want to branch out. Both types are very stinky and both very slow growing.

Hearing about your indica pheno's stretch makes me think I might have to veg these up to 1 gal pots to get a decent size out of them.

As for the pix I will try to figure this out. I am new to this putting up pictures thing on this site. I kno a picture is worth...
Hey HITH, I would agree with you on a longer veg. I wish I let the 'totem pole' go 10 days more in veg. It will most likely finish out as the shortest plant in my zone. I am too a haze fan, so most of my ladies are tall n lanky to some degree.

Hey Med-Man...
Your catalog looks real killer. I'll most likely try another of your selections soon. Thanks for bringing some RKS love to beanland. Silver Surfer sounds sublime.

Can you elaborate on the parental units of the #1 a bit..Thank you sir. If this has been done in another thread and I missed it my apologies for missing..as I did dig a bit. In particular daddy. Thanks

hey supino

thanks for sharing. there is a softer rks pheno, but the pungency is still there in the bottom

the #1 is a cali line of skunk #1 that never made it to holland to be ruined lol

you can tell by the unique calyxes and hairs to match

oil slick from washington, a very long time grower, is rocking the silver surfer hard right now, and had been for a year or so, if not longer. he claims its his fave to gorw based on yield and exotic aroma, or maybe he has the hawaiian kush used in the cross, i forget.

he says it deos very well at his shops too, in every form from bud to medibles, to extracts

The deed has been done. Pollen has been hit to all 3 phenos of Rks1, as well as a nice g13xhz, C4, and a very hazy mango haze f2.. Should be interesting to see what expressions this boy will give..I never saw the male, but was informed he stunk up the room when pollen was collected... I would love to add some skunky funk to a few more ladies, especially sour d and Deathstar, clones of the boy are in the bucket. I'm out of pollen so these two will have to wait till the clone males flower next.
Ill follow up on the 3 ladies in a few days when hopefully I can get up some pix too..

All is looking well so far. The pollination seemed to have taken. Everything looking good so far.
RKS#1 (1) - 4wks3days: Big thick translucent pistils. No visible trichomes yet. Ouch...not too keen on this fact, as well as very minimal to zero smell as of yet too.
RKS#1 (2) - Approx 2.5 wks: Fully stretched out as tall as (1) but fuller with more nodes and leaf. Classic Christmas tree pattern. No obvious odor or visible trichomes yet.
RKS#1 (3) - Approx 2.5 wks: Fully stretched to half the vertical size of the other two, and about as columnar as they come. The plant never reaches beyond the circumference of the pot. Pure totem pole. No obvious odor or visible trichomes yet.

All three plants look healthy as can be.
Bring on the trichs and funk...

Seeds are forming on all 3 plants
RKS#1 (1) - 6wks1day: Big thick translucent pistils, just now beginning to die back. No visible trichomes still. I really hope this is the kind of plant that packs it on late. It is the picture of health, vigor is surely there, unfortunatly not trichs and odor though. in regards to a stealth RKS...I regard that as I regard 'military intellegence', and 'jumbo shrimp'.
RKS#1 (2) - Approx 4 wks: Very much like a leafier version of it's older sibling, with a bit more on the trichome dept and a light skunky odor. Healthy as a mofo
RKS#1 (3) - Approx 4 wks: This plant really smells nice...not too skunky..but a really nice fruity smell with a slightly pestilant bottom end. This could be a goodun'. BTW...this gal doesn't care much for a beefy soilmix (or nute regime if thats your thing). Nice n easy.

Once again..Bring on the trichs and funk...

Last plant down, finally...
Allow to to say that, as many others have commented on the two RKS lines, I slightly over fed these plants. I also believe that on the site I Bought these testers on, in Med-Mans description he states they are light feeders. That being noted...
RKS#1 (1) - 10 wks, 4 days- pulled w hermies, chemical smell/eucalyptus, LOOSE as a mofo, hairy as a 70's porn bush.. dried to look like a rusty brillo pad..cured a sample to try, eucalyptusybutter /mentholly on the first intake, not much after that, the is going to be butter fodder
RKS#1 (2) - 11wks, 5 days-pulled as a few nanners began to present themselves. Fruity chemically in smell. This is obviously the best of my 3 females; but unfortunatly, does not come close to making the cut as a keeper. Competition is fierce for my limited real estate, seed plants must be superb. This was not. Looks to be ok smoke. Not much bag appeal, thats not really my primary concern though. Hopefully something interesting will present in the cure. I have seen it before.
RKS#1 (3) - 8 wks Pulled earlier than I would have liked on account of an overabundance of nanners. I dried cured some just to see what it would cure to...fruity w a bit of funk. Not my thing. Very little bag appeal. Had the potential to be the densest of the gang, as it was obvious in its indica expression. In defense of this poor plant, this one seemed to stress over the soil, even though it was not that strong. A warning to all those who may venture here in the future.
Take what you will from it...is there a stinker in there, maybe maybe not. Will you find it in one pack, IMHO no. I will say that I feel a bit slighted that I bought these on another site and now there is 'tester' threads going on on this site (which I love by the way, and would have bought here had they been available). I knew it was a roll of the dice, as it always is with seeds. However, I have limited space in my garden and I would not have been so quick to fill 3 places (as well as the cuts to back them up) had I known I very well could be the first one to pop them. Now thats a beta test!!!

I'll comment on the smoke from the cured sample of the harvest.

I feel this line has potential but is a bit too diverse for someone looking for something specific, like a skunk smell

The f2s were place into capable hands, I just cannot open these myself with such limited space, I will comment on those as well, but it could be till next year outdoor.

The male was said to really stink, but so did my females in veg

We'll see....just not in my garden

Can Med-man comment on the specifics of his RKS 1 & 2 parents, do these two lines share a parent? If so, which?
