"For those who have faith in the Lotus Sutra, but whose faith is not deep, it is as though a half moon were lighting the darkness. But for those who have profound faith, it is as though a full moon were illuminating the night.."

"Nichiren Daishonin inscribed the Gohonzon and spread Nam-myoho-renge-kyo to enable people to overcome life’s obstacles and achieve true happiness, and to help others do the same.

"The Daishonin called upon his disciples: 'Each of you should summon up the courage of a lion king and never succumb to threats from anyone. The lion king fears no other beast, nor do its cubs' (WND-1, 997).

"The lion is the king of the animal world. The lion king fears nothing, regardless of how strong its opponent may be. No matter what happens, it advances fearlessly.

"You each possess within you this unsurpassed courage of the lion king. Chanting daimoku enables you to tap this inner strength you possess.

"Nam-myoho-renge-kyo could be said to be the name of this invincible heart of the lion king. When your name is called, you naturally respond, don’t you? In the same way, when you chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, you are actually calling forth the heart of the lion king. You are able to bring forth courage, wisdom, the strength to live, and compassion to care for others. Therefore, those who chant daimoku are able to make their lives shine their strongest and brightest."

"This passage refers to the great joy that one experiences when one understand for the first time that one's mind from the very beginning has been the Buddha. Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is the greatest of all joys."

"No matter how humanity advances, the fundamental sufferings of human existence—birth, aging, sickness, and death—will always remain with us. No one is without problems or suffering of some kind. Everyone is struggling with some aspect of their karma, their life.

"But we all possess within us the light of hope that can break through and dispel the greatest sorrow and darkest despair. Nichiren Buddhism teaches the way for illuminating the entire world with that light, starting with one person courageously shining with hope, which will then spread to a second, a third, and a hundred, and eventually to people everywhere.

"Nichiren Daishonin writes: 'The Lotus Sutra offers a secret means for leading all living beings to Buddhahood. It leads one person in the realm of hell, one person in the realm of hungry spirits, and thus one person in each of the nine realms of existence to Buddhahood, and thereby the way is opened for all living beings to attain Buddhahood' (WND-1, 512). We can all attain Buddhahood. We can all triumphantly open the life-state of Buddhahood within us."

It looks like we have a week delay for G's status to get sorted out, so let's use that to chant even more Daimoku for him to win in his fight. I ask that you all keep chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo as much as you can for this to happen and we will see that nothing is impossible. Please don't give up and please don't give in. We will all fight to the last second together. That's the way it should be anyhow. Shoulder to shoulder never yielding.

LET'S KICK SOME DEVIL ASS!!!

Bowing in humble obeisance,

T

"Can anything exceed the sun and moon in brightness? Can anything surpass the lotus flower in purity? The Lotus Sutra is the sun and moon and the lotus flower. (Therefore it is called the Lotus Sutra of the Wonderful Law. Nichiren, too, is like the sun and moon and the lotus flower.)"

"In teaching me about faith, Mr. Toda adopted an approach that was simultaneously scholarly, universal, and open to society. His method of instruction was absolutely brilliant. Once he said to me: 'The Daishonin’s Buddhism is the ultimate Law of the universe. It is the treasure storehouse of wisdom. It is the correct path of the wise.' Faith in the Mystic Law enables one to build a character of the highest integrity. 'It is the sharp sword of wisdom,' he said. In other words, faith is a mighty sword more powerful than any political or academic authority. Mr. Toda continued: 'The Daishonin’s Buddhism is a towering, eternal philosophy. It is the great way to peace. It is the art of attaining supreme happiness. It is the teaching that sets us on the course to victory.' Everything we need to win in life is found in our practice of Nichiren Daishonin’s Buddhism. I fondly recall my mentor sharing these guidelines with me."

"No matter what difficulties we encounter, it’s important that we live with fortitude and strength. Everyone has problems and sufferings. We mustn’t let them defeat us. We practise the Daishonin’s Buddhism so as not to be defeated.
