No legit durban available at the moment... maybe some private breeders have them but I haven't seen any seedbank offering them, besides Sensi, Dutch Passion and others who sell shitty durban x skunk hybrids. The Real Seed Co offers some true Durban hybrids with African genetics and a real long flowering Durban landrace, preserved by African Herbman. If you look for real durban genetics, I guess you should forget about the rest and try different african genetics.

I would be fairly confident that dutch passion's durban poison is legit

How good it is though I couldn't say....strains that have been inbred for 20 years in a small greenhouse typically lose something in the process

could always order a few schwag bags from sa on the road and pop some seeds.

I know of a legit Durban. It's one of those 'shitty' skunk crosses. It turned so purple it was almost black, and tasted dead on like red twizzlers with a high more unique than anything ive ever had, including the multiple African sativas, old timers haze, etc I've grown.
it had the same taste found in gsc.
I've since ran a bunch of other durbans, including cuts passed straight from the owner of biggest dispensary in NorCal.
None came close.
Imo- if it's not dark purple(leaves and buds), it ain't what your looking for. Not to say there's no good green durbans, but I've never had one that rated higher than a 4 on a scale of 1-10.
And it's not from Dutch passion or sensi.

Dutch Passion used to be where you'd go to get Durban. Not sure if that's the same anymore.
I did it outdoors and didn't think it packed much of a punch.

swampwater dude, why do you take the time to post all that and then leave people guessing, why not just say? We are asking what breeder has the best durban, not looking for alternate seed vendors. thanks

Ah, sorry.
My comment was in reply to the Durban x skunk crosses being called "shitty", when infact the ones I grew were better than all the pure durbans i've grown combined.
It was from seedsman.i think he calls it 'early Durban' if I remember correctly.
But please note- that was back in 2007-ish. Not sure if they are the same as they were then. When I first tried (real)GSC earlier this year, the taste was exactly what those d x s tasted like(with OG funk mixed in of course). It's a very specific taste that's unlike anything else.

I bred the Durban Poison in the early 1970's in Cali and it was early from the get. it came from the 30th latitude and I did the work at the 37th. It was also small plants and hermi but I worked on it for a few years got rid of the hermis, and selected for big bracts, and spicy taste and high, as well as earliness, and cleaned it up. No Hybridization, No acclimatization, just hard work killing all the rejects and keeping only the best for the goal. I did have a lot to select from!
BTW it is pure from S Africa, never hybidized, if you refer to my S.African Durban Poison, which has been around for many others to copy and/or hybridize from the mid 70's, until recently when other S African seeds suppliers have also sold seeds from S Africa or with S African genes in it. My S African Durban Poison is early enough that it can be grown outdoors in the ground in Holland 53rd latitude if the winter is a bit late and moderate, maybe 30-50% of the years. BTW I have also grown many pure Durban seeds from S Africa that were not early like mine.

Sam's is the one to look for. I had his durban x skunk and it was very nice. I did have a few females to find the anise flavor.

I'm gonna be honest..i've tried dp from the big 3 seed companies and haven't found any to live up to their internet reputation.

Obviously it could have been me but..

thanks and sorry, at the same time, I thought you were just being difficult but I see your point!

Earl of the Durb? Did you cross early girl or pearl with durban by any chance? I never got how some places called it Durban and others Durban Poison, was it one in the same or verbal trickery? and @post16, I hope my freebies from UDG are the real deal, that would be sweet if in 26 freebie seeds I found the real deal!

nahh its a seedsman cross: DP X Skunk 1 called Early Durban. I popped two beans and one survived. He's real young maybe two weeks into flower.
