Day 38

Day 38

Today I switched two of the four CFLs from 6500K to 2700K (these have even a few more lumens at the same wattage).
Both plants proceed very well, trichomes on the sugar leaves are quite plentyful already.

The Tall:

Snappy seems tp produce more calyxes/pistils:

Now all four CFLs are 2700k. Not much more to say, so just the two tops for today.

Day 45

Day 45

Roughly 3 more weeks to go, plants are looking good so far.
One of the lower side branches of the Tall didn't want to stop growing (left side) and is now quite a bit higher than the main top (right side):

Snappy seems to be producing more calyxes/pistils than the Tall, and has grown overall into a nice little bush:

I think this are the two different phenotypes of this strain: The buds of Snappy have more calyxes/pistils, but they seem to not color up, as the Tall does, which in turn has less calyxes/pistils.

The non-coloring phenotype almost looks like a normal Cream Caramel Auto (one of the ancestors of the strain), but the smell of a little rub is very different. The Black Cream has a VERY fruity smell with just a slight earthy undertone (extremly pleasant), whereas the Cream Caramel is much more earthy and sweet, but almost not fruity at all (at least in my experience). I'm very curious about the final, cured smell^^

p.s.: sorry for the LED-colored pics, but it's impossible to get a good white balance for my pics right now, as the upper parts of the plants are more LED illuminated, whereas the lower parts are more under CFL influence.

Day 48

Day 48

Watered two days ago with BioFlores bloom fertilizer (50% of the recommended amount). They seem to love the extra potassium and phosphorus - even the lowest leaves show lots of tension, and the upper leaves are praying like mad^^

Day 52

Day 52

First orange/brown pistils appeared, but they produce still plenty new pistils. I think roughly 2 more weeks to go.

Day 55

Day 55

Yesterday they got their last feeding with BioFlores (66% of recommended amount).
First fan leaves are showing signs of senescence, should be okay as they have roughly 10 more days to go.
Smell is strong but not unpleasant.

Day 60

Day 60

Roughly one more week to go.
Big fan leaves are turning to autumn colors, and brown pistils are slowly taking over. No amber trichomes so far.

Both plants in the box, front CFL turned away:

Day 66

Day 66

Almost there!
Leaves are coloring up, many brown pistils, most trichomes cloudy and single amber ones here and there. I think, they can go a couple more days.
Today's pictures with adjusted white balance - I'm slowly becoming comfortable with the camera.

Day 69

Day 69

Yesterday I gave them a last watering (distilled).
They have colored up real nicely:

When zooming the originals I can still see very few definite amber trichomes, a few more possible ones, almost all other seem cloudy.
Probably I will stop after today's light cycle (which is tomorrow), and then have 24 hours of dark, to harvest them in two days.

The Tall has fewer, but bigger calyxes:

Day 71

Day 71

I decided to give them two more days. Today I can see maybe 5%-10% of amber trichomes. Enough for me, so after today's light cycle I will start the 24 hours of darkness before harvest.

Day 73, Harvest

Thanks, melty. Aren't we all chasing the Purple Haze?

Some final pics before harvest. Trichomes are all cloudy, with less than 25% amber.
