hey couch, i had never seen or heard of scrog when i came up with the 'modular scrog' concept well over 20 years ago.. it was simply a solution to growing in a 6 foot long, 18" wide closet that was 2' high and had the door at one end. i trained the plants onto those round plant rings that you buy from the garden centre and flowered them under a bank of T8 tubes. im sure others have come up with the idea along the way too, but thats how i started.

---

right we are 4.5 weeks in and things are pretty good i think.
the recycled soil seems to be holding up with just the pinamite showing slight signs of hunger - i gave it a light feed along with some humic acid this watering.
here's a shot of the cab, really you cant see much as the plants are almost bigger than the door!

and the pinamite, as i suspected this is a good scrog strain, the mini stadium effect is working quite well.

and the amnesia, a little more stretchy and messy. it threw some big internodes right before it topped out but it should be a good pull anyway

Nice led grow VerdantGreen, can't wait to see more. I really enjoy seeing more threads with led grows documented.

In some of the earlier pics, you could see where the spider mites were munching. Do you still have an issue with them? If not, what did you do to clear them out?

Also with the led, how loud would you say it is and how fast does the heat dissipate?

I've been fascinated with the leds here http://www.ledgrow.eu/ and wish there were more people growing with them to really get a feel for them. As you mentioned, leds are not cheap and money doesn't come as easy as it once did. So making a commitment to any is a long thought out trial.

hi Dr 44, there may have been a few mites on the vegging plants but i have been spraying regularly with neem and a rapeseed oil based organic spray - and im pretty confident the mites are gone. i'm a gardener/garden designer by trade so i probably quite regularly re-infect my grow with mites and have a regular spray regime. this slipped over the simmer when i was away and the kids were home on school holidays - so the last run had a few by the end.

the fans on the light are quiet but not silent by any means, it seems pretty cool running as the fans are directly over the heat sinks, one per LED.

ive seen the lights you linked to before, the link seems to get posted regularly in various grow threads but ive never seen a grow with them by anybody else - they look kind of home-made. the results they are getting look ok - somewhere approaching 1gpw.
lets hope they build the lights better than they built the website lol

Looking good VG :) I liked the smoke of pinamite but not the yield, but its one of those weeds that gets better with curing and is as greasy as anything. Sonic always referred to it as smelling like baby sick.

hey DD ive heard its a pretty good yielder but never grown it myself. i think its quite personal really as some of the clones i see as high yield ive given to others and they dont agree :D

the pinamite smells strongly of sweet pineapple atm which is rather nice

does your panel have the far red in it? I had one of the first delivered, and doesn't have it in it.. wondering if yours does..

thanks guys,

habeeb this spectrum has no far red which i was a little worried about.. but the flowering response seems plenty strong enough - and i guess you get extra regular red into the bargain!

more pics on friday hopefully

Hey VG,

Looking pretty as usual!!! I was just wondering how much height you are running between the light and the canopy? I can't get my hgl extremes closer than 12-16in without ill effects.

Hey DD i have about 6in between light and canopy. these can defo be kept closer than the X's. ive also allowed the buds at the side to grow up higher to give a stadium effect. the light gets thrown sideways pretty well from the unit.

and the plants, 6 weeks in, look pretty good. lovely dense nugs on there. not massive but there are a lot of buds in each canopy so i would expect them to come in smaller. ive let the side colas spread wider than the screen too as the cab is a bit wider.

Looks good VG! So 6inches is the money spot? Do you think this would be the same with the 100w models or would those need a little more space?

hey guys,

DD sorry for the late reply - i imagine the 100W ones will need a bit more clearance for sure!

Meanbean - its been a while mate! - thanks for the kind words.

couchlockd - just checking it out!

so we are just over 8 weeks in and probably a week or so off harvest. the buds have swelled quite a bit and the plants are fading out nicely

Looking nice indeed man. The Pinamite filled the screen great.
The Amnesia looks a bit more tricky, but those trich are epic for sure.
Did you grew those sensimilia or did you trow some pollen on a bud as always :p

hey g0v, you are bang on, the amnesia is one of those that grows diagonally/sideways and throws some big internodes so much more tricky in that small space.
both smell great though. the pinamite is pure over-ripe pineapple!

no seeds on these, neither really floats my boat as a breeding strain, well i may have a few plans for the amnesia one day.....
