The more I think about getting rid of the rw, the more I lean back toward soil. I was wondering if I could integrate the rw into the garden soil or compose it, but you answered that for me. Thanks. Maybe down the road I'll try coco or rw, but I need the first couple runs to go well. Best to stay with what I know to get things started.

Yeah, I'm going with lower numbers and longer veg times to stay legal. Reduces stress considerably. For me, going over 100 is out of the question, though I have dreams of giant grows like they have in Holland. hahaha Maybe in your fan video, you can integrate a Holland warehouse grow to show how powerful it is? hahaha It can handle an entire warehouse !!

Haha, yes, for just regular ventilation it could handle quite a large space!

Well, it's just the end of the first week of 12/12 and they are starting to really explode! I had cut the holes to run 4 screens but, as I think I said before, I am just going to stack this and see how that does.

Plant density is pretty high, I am going to have to do some heavy trimming. I've been going through all of HGO/Bobble?Marlow's threads to see how they handle it.

Moved the lights up today, to where the bottom of the bulb was just at the top of the canopy, to encourage them to fill the screen. From the looks of it I will have to add the other lights, soon!

I think I am probably going to go with HGO's tripod mounts.

Looks like the plants took off. Your screen looks to be filling in nicely. Like the idea to raise the light to get 'em reaching more.

That 12" intake is huge!! If you have time, please post some pics of how you set that up. Thanks

You mean the fan? I still haven't installed it. Waiting on isolation mounts.

I'm cool (no pun intended, haha) for another week or so, until I have to add the other lights.

I'll show all the connections and stuff when I get it mounted.

What a beast......

Day 14

Day 14

Had quite a bit of trimming to do today, and it looks like the addition of the second set of lights will certainly need to go in by this weekend!

2 is clearly a bit out of round, but not as bad as the photo makes it look.
Next time I'd like to make a round frame, top and bottom, maybe out of conduit.
I've noticed a few small leaks here and there (you can see a few little dark puddles) but nothing major, and nothing I can really do about it now, anyway.

Pile 'o trim:

Be back next week!

Cool setup. I'm using the CAP nano xtrmes also. I like them but they are loud compared to my solisteks. I just setup my first vert and also using 3gallon smart pots like you.

Thanks, Divine Moments.
These are actually 2 gal, very hard to tell without scale, though. Some of them are smart pots, most of them are pots I made myself. It really only ends up saving a few bucks but I could be really useful if someone needed a custom size/shape.
I like the Cap Nanos well enough but, as you said, they are a tad bit on the noisy side.
I've also got two lumateks in there, and I think I am the only person that has never had a problem with them! ;)

When I add the other lights this weekend I will probably do both Lumateks on one side and Nanos on the other, just for the hell of it.

The Cannadential for the next run is looking very promising:

really liking your set up OT, did you run with 3' or 4' cages?
i am helping a friend set up a small grow very similar to what you got. he has heat issues and would like to avoid using cool tubes if possible...so how well does your exhaust system work?

he will be running only 2 - 3 plants but they will be much bigger as they will be vegged for 8 - 10 weeks...

Hey ozzie, thanks for dropping in!

These are 3'. This particular strain is very susceptible to heat stress so I HOPE it's enough.....

I am working on a curved conduit frame to keep the clearance uniform (next time).

The vent system I have waiting to go it is crazy overkill, especially now that it is getting cooler. I have to put it in though, to be able to add the other set of lights, sooner rather than later.

idk if you saw but I have a 12" 2000cfm mixed flow fan to go in there; currently it is running a 8" 700cfm.

As far as the passive intakes, they work great! Next time I am going to increase them to 12"; as I want as much of my air exchange right there as I can! Come summer, I will also have some sort of collector on top, too.

thanks taking time to reply OT i appreciate it...yes i saw your mofo of a fan...you are going to some serious air movement with that baby....

how well does your method of directly venting the lights work? we were thinking of something similar but ducting straight out of the room via its own fan. we are wanting to directly remove as much heat from the source as possible to maintain as cool ambient temps in the room...so do you think they work well for such a task?

we are planning on venting into the room as well to ensure we are able maintain an equal pressure environment. whilst the pro's like an air exchange rate of 2x/minute we will have only 1-2 lights in a 8'wx14'dx9'h room and with our current exhaust fans (1x12" & 1x6") we will only be able to achieve 1 air exchange/minute

thanks for your input

It works very well, even better than I anticipated. I think if you had a direct, activeexhaust it would work even better.

Even with this being passive, I took temp readings with and without and I could see a marked difference. Running 2 600s and a relatively small ΔT, an 8" fan was sufficient.

You could very likely get away with just the 12". The 2x/hr is really a "starting point", you know?

Good luck man!

Sorry for the delay, shit happens, and shit happened, lol. All is "ok" but I had to break down and relocate rather hastily. Everything from before is about to finish but didn't handle the move very well, so my data would be meaningless.
I've got another vert at 4 weeks here:

and the survivors looking scraggly here: (@ about 6 weeks)

I'm convinced that Vert is the way to go but had to throw the clones I had in horizontal, as that is just how things were already set up at the destination. I am working on making it all vert for the next go round.

Also still having computer issues, big time. I'll post more when I get everything sorted out.
