sirharry- i wouldn't say my mind is made up, i was just thinking if they are close to being the same quite working fan minus the warranty and a few cfm's i'd just go with the one locally which is the hurricane...if i can find a vortex locally it would be a no brainer...there's still 1 store i haven't checked so maybe i'll get lucky.

mdydro prices are right though...i know the hurricane here locally goes for $229 for the 6'ers and $279 for the 8'ers.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread,but now after several years,what is the general consensus on Hurricane fans?Longevity (reliability) to me is as important as to how quiet the fan is.I'm more interested in hearing about their 4",but if they are a quality fan,then they will likely be quality whether 4" or 6" or larger.

I would probably lean more towards CAP Valuline,but the vendor I am considering sells Hurricane not Valuline.

Check out the new Vortex S-line fans. Cheaper, quieter, nice features. The 8 inch looks like a monster of an air mover. -granger
