4x2 tent setup help

you don't need a ph meter but I didn't use one and didn't have to much problem, but a few times my nutes got locked out, I was using chemical nutes, general hydroponics which are great but you have to mix it in a certain order to get full results and like I said earlier just mix it like 1/3 of the strength and adjust from there. when I had the lock out I was not using the general hydroponic nutes correctly. I grow in pro mix bh with is perlite and peat moss which is good for drainage and wht not..

I have had pretty good results with it and I think its like 30$ for 105L of soil at a hydroponic store but im not in the usa and we do not have fox farms stuff here. where u thinking about there nutes?

other than that it sounds like its going to fly high

IMO, if you are using hydroponic nutrients a pH tester is worth its weight in gold. Even if you aren't using hydro nutes, it is still a good idea to get one to test your water. Here the pH of the water out of the tap is ~7.5, which will cause pH curl very quickly if you don't adjust.

I use water out of the fish tank or a syringe full of botanicare's pure blend pro (grow or bloom depending on what stage I am in) for 5g to adjust it to 6.5, and I don't have problems with pH curl. When I'm gone and my room mate is taking care of the plants, I can tell when he hasn't adjusted the water. Frustrates the hell out of me, but what can I do except stay on him to build better habits? :dunno:

well said indianajones... I also do use botanicares pro blend but only in flower. and the fish tank thing is a good idea especially if you are doing a res since there is great bacteria in there
You need to buy a book on hydroponic/soil indoor gardening and read it cover to cover. Maybe rent it from the library.

I would also suggesting reading the weed bible or something is a really good book you can even download some off the internet to get you going

also about you said if you should use chemical nutes or organic, if you go organic you would prob need a res just to hold your blends in, especially if you brew teas

no experience with LEDs in that size tent, but I am using this brand of LED (so is DZLHIT is the LED grow lights subforum) with pretty good results so far. they are chinese, but the quality is better than the american unit that i had in the past that i paid top $ and was junk.

two of the nova s4s would work well in your situation, and i bet you can get both of them including shipping for under $500. i got two of the nova s8 units for $570.

here's a photo of the wavelength setup i am using (thanks to DZLHIT for the diagram). the bottom LED in the picture is wrong though, it should read "660", not "66"

They will all be relatively the same (Lensed modular panel's...) aside from a few key thing's. 1)Spectrum! Stay away from red and blue only, lol. Look for something reliable based on other's if you don't wanna swing in the dark... 2)Wall power draw/actual wattage. This will help you determine what you can actually expect to pull from it. 3)Cost, about 90% of L.E.D. seller's are trying to "get rich quick", marking unit's up $100's of dollar's with no justification,. Try shooting them a message and haggling, may work (IDK about with credit...)...
