thanks to gallery browsing i managed to figure out the actual stage of the bunny in the rabbit burrow.
she showed flowers after 20 days of 12/12. she is in 91st day of 12/12 in the pics below, which means 71st day of bloom:

Wow, still a heck of a lot of white pistols for day 71 of bloom. She is looking great! Nice trichome coverage there mate!! Those last two pics look nice.

Thanks for sharing

lots of fresh ones, true.
i am thinking if this is a result of all 2700K bulbs i used for the hood.

i believe i saw blynx posting recently that such spectrum sometimes does not allow for full bud maturation. not sure this is strain related though, or it can happen in any case.

what i am going to do is inspect the glands with 100x magnifier and see what this shows. i can't let her flower forever lol ;)

ok so I realized i slacked off and stopped checking in here as much as I should have been so I went back and re read the thread! Great job bro! Only things would be to keep the plants out of the heat range from the 250! I know you want the light to pentrate but I had the same problems with just a 150 in a similar reflector! It just TRAPS the heat up there...

this is why I decided to go vert...

but anyway after my current cycle finishes... I have 1 more flower cycle before I have to shut down.. I was thinking of turning my current veg cab into a scrog cab using my 110 PL-L while I used my 150 HPS in my vert flower room...

bout to start up a thread, would appreciate any advice...

Can't wait to see what comes next out of the Rabbit burrow!

Peace :joint:

Most people count flowering from the day they switch to 12/12. The plant starts reacting to the 12/12 immediately. It just takes a bit til you see the results, ie pistils.

91 days of flowering is kinda long but that's what some of the more sativa leaning crosses run.

In my last run I used all 6500k (daylight) cfl bulbs. The plants were very sativa leaning and they didn't ever really 'finish'. By that, I mean they just kept putting out white hairs.

I think the affects of flowering with 6500k spectrum are more visible/drastic on sativa leaning plants than they are on indica plants. The sativa leaning plants will produce looser buds and will foxtail a lot. The indica leaning buds will produce dense buds but they will keep putting out little clumps of white hairs all over the bud, like mini-foxtails. You could see this in Sgapetti's last cfl grow where he used only 6500k cfl bulbs. My guess is that it has to do with the lack of red spectrum from the 6500k cfl bulbs.

I've also seen similar foxtailing/not finishing when flowering with 2700k cfl bulbs but the causes are different than spectrum of bulb.

IMO, it can be any one of, or a combination of, the following that can cause what you are seeing.

Mites/bugs can cause foxtailing/loose buds no matter what they are flowered under.

Excess heat can cause foxtailing/loose buds/not finishing.

Even if air flow is great, putting plants too close to the light overwhelms the plant and can cause foxtailling/loose buds/not finishing.

IME, the more sativa leaning strains really like it off to the side of the light more than directly under it. If they are directly under the light, they like more distance between the light and the plant than you'd usually give indica leaning plants.

This can make it hard to run these strains with cfls in a small grow cab. Even if the heat isn't an issue, we usually try to get the plants real close to the cfls, and in certain strains (usually more sativa leaning strains), this can cause the plant to foxtail/not finish.

The chems/chem crosses I've run are usually flowered out 70-84 days, so they aren't quick strains by any means. IMO, they are also sensitive to heat and too much intense light.

I think that's what you are seeing with this strain. A combination of heat and a strain that doesn't like how close the light is to it.

My guess is that if you ran this strain under an HPS, off to the side of the light, you'd see the plants finish. If they do naturally foxtail, I think you'd see the foxtails finish and fill out.

If it was me, I'd chop her and start on the next round.

hi blynx!
thanks for dropping in and clarifying this for us.
pity i was unaware of that in the moment of hood construction, would have mixed 2700K with 6500K. anyway the buds are decent and abundant so your point below is received with no doubts:

If it was me, I'd chop her and start on the next round.

aye, sir :tiphat:
don't intend to argue with that. in fact i cannot wait to start a new project with new technique. been preparing materials for this for some time and gathering them down in the burrow.

so let's have a look at the rabbit nursery and available stock:

after short hesitation i chose this HotMix girl for my next run. she was a more productive yet more foxtailing pheno (she delivered the monster bud):

what do you think about her, folks?

run # 2: the coco hempy bucket DTW

run # 2: the coco hempy bucket DTW

ok fellows, this becomes official.

the ChemdogDD-x-SourDiesel ibl bunny was removed from the burrow and is now experiencing 24hrs of darkness. i will get back to her after harvest.

now for the next project!

RUN #2

this will be a coco hempy bucket with auto-feed, often referred to as Drain To Waste.

here is the container i chose (8 Ltrs) and adapted to hempy requirements:

picture.php

drilled a whole for the runoff hose and applied a 'filter' to prevent perlite from draining:

in the last pic you can see the perlite base already in the pot bottom

here is some of the coco substrate and the HotMix clone sitting comfortably in her new home:

as you can notice above, i also added a layer of perlite at the top of coco, simply to keep it more elegant ;]
just kidding, it is supposed to be preventing water evaporation from coco substrate. here is the clone surrounded with perlite layer completely:

when it comes to feeding, i made a dripper ring to surround the plant. you certainly noticed the black feeding hose on previous pics:

and as finishing step the HotMix bunny got trained to keep her short and to promote branching:

picture.php

hope you like it as much as i do :]

and as everyone probably imagines by now, two containers (feed water and waste water) are located below the growroom. there is little space in there so excuse crappy pics but i hope you can get the idea about operation of the system.

in the feeding container there is a water pump, who feeds into 1/2 inch hose. it is then reduced to 1/4 inch hose which keeps water pressure at level sufficient for vertical transportation of water, up to the growroom.

after the feed water goes into substrate, it pushes 'old' water still residing in the bottom layer of perlite out of the pot. gravity drives this waste water into second container below the growroom.

any comments, folks?

hello & thanks, guys :tiphat:

hazy, for the first day she received pure water. also the substrate was well moist during planting operation.

next day she receives water enriched with Hesi hydro nutes, which are supposed to match the coco well.
at first only 1/3 of recommended dose. in next 5 days or so i plan to go 1/2 dose, then after next week probably 2/3. then full dose if she reacts good so far.

besides the system feeds her every second day at the moment, i intend to switch to once/day after a few days, later to multiple feeds per day. she receives just enough volume to observe a little runoff.

finally, she now enjoys only 3 bulbs on, i.e. 69 W CFL in order to adapt to intense lighting. that's because she has been sitting under 23 W for over a month (and far from the bulb).
the reason for her moderate size is the fact she was cut and rooted in advanced flower stage, which lead to long reveg.

Hello knots, nice , green and healty as usual in the burrow!

Editing after reading blynx post on 6500k ligths, mine mainly sativa crosse, except one more afghan leaning, have show foxtaling and lots of new pistills grow in late flower, while the afghan dominant cross as actually maturated with plenty of amber tricomes. Of all the kelvin combinations tried with cfl, the one with best balance in grow , maturation time , production and smell is been 50/50 % bulbs , 2700/6500 k from start to end of stretch , only 2500k till the end , but switched one 2500k against a 6400k fulspectrum uvb2.o bulb the last 3 weeks . This is the kelvin combination that i am using now , and i will document the results as usual . Because my environment changes a little bit from run to run , rh , min and max Temps , kelvin combination until the last run, whatever results i come up with is just personal and only applicable to my grow setup , environment and fenotipes used, in my case mostly and 100% sativa crosses.

Peace S
