Kosen-rufu is all about the battles
between our Buddha nature and the obstacles we face in life.
By not being inattentive or careless,
let's advance minus any type of accident or incident!
Brimming with absolutely strong life force,
let's be victorious!

" 'With regard to believing in the Lotus Sutra, I [Nichiren] am the foremost sage in Jambudvipa [the entire world]. My name resounds throughout the pure lands of the ten directions, and heaven and earth no doubt know it. If [one declares oneself to be] Nichiren’s disciple, I do not think that evil demons of any kind can claim ignorance of my name.' - From “The Good Medicine for All Ills” (WND-1, 938).

"The Mystic Law is the fundamental law governing life and the universe. The names of all dedicated practitioners of this Law will resound throughout the Buddha lands of the ten directions.

"When we declare ourselves to be disciples of Nichiren Daishonin and champions of Soka, even 'evil demons' will become our allies. Linked by the bonds of mentor and disciple, all of us who are working for kosen-rufu can forever travel the path of eternity, happiness, true self, and purity throughout the three existences—past, present, and future.

Those who have exerted themselves in faith with sincere devotion will definitely win in the end."

President Toda was always a friend and ally of those who were suffering or in pain. He warmly embraced each person. Once he offered the following words of encouragement to a member, "Don't be impatient. Since you have embraced the Gohonzon your situation will definitely improve. There's no need to worry. Sure, there will be hard times, times when you feel like crying. But as long as you have the Gohonzon, Your life will become bright and joyful." 1/30/1993 Daisaku Ikeda

Greetings to Chanting Growers around the world!

Guess who finally stumbled upon his old password (on 4th of 5 attempt opportunities, and with the help of Southern Girl's steel trap memory)? Yes, back after my last posting on Dec. 2, 2006. Have I missed anything? ;-) It's always rewarding to catch up with PTD (once again), and see many old names seen on this thread from seven years back! I'll be busy catching up a bit now, reading through some archived C.G. posts, learning how to navigate the entire updated I.C. site, salivating as I review the "Show It" pics, etc..., and plan to live, learn, and participate in this incredible thread once again, as I am only DAYS away from receiving my Gohonzon!
Thank you for still being here,
GordyP

The practice of thrift is a wise way to lead a better life.
It is one of the basics to living a down to earth way of life.
Rather than wasting money on useless things,
let's try to live a balanced and steady life
and advance happily and cheerfully each and every day!

"It must be ties of karma from the distant past that have destined you to become my disciple at a time like this. Shakyamuni and Many Treasures certainly realized this truth. The sutra's statement, 'Those persons who had heard the Law dwelled here and there in various Buddha lands, constantly reborn in company with their teachers,' cannot be false in any way."

"On a clear California day in February 1990, I spoke with the American journalist Norman Cousins (1915-1990). I will never forget his words on that occasion, reflecting his belief in the importance of overcoming the feelings of powerlessness and cynicism that can take root in the human heart: 'What is the greatest human tragedy? It is not death per se. The real tragedy is death in life―though your body survives, something important inside you has perished.'

"That 'something important inside you' to which Mr. Cousins referred could be summed up as a solid belief in one's own incredible inner potential."

"The American journalist Norman Cousins (1915-90) continued...:

"'By virtue of our birth as a human being, we have a noble duty that we share with all others. That is to believe in people and to trust each other. When, for example, we are faced with an unavoidable tragedy, though in our anguish we may temporarily lose sight of the meaning of life, we must never forget to believe in people, which is what it means to be a human being.

"'What is important is how greatly you affirm and value the irreplaceable gift of life. You must never devalue the lives and feelings of others. Your supreme goal must be mutual acceptance―and you must never abandon that most noble human sentiment, trust.'"

"Exert yourself in the two ways of practice and study. Without practice and study, there can be no Buddhism. You must not only persevere yourself; you must also teach others. Both practice and study arise from faith. Teach others to the best of your ability, even if it is only a single sentence or phrase."

Let's try to talk to other people on a person to person basis and develop a strong bond of trust and friendship with them. To take the time to listen to what our friends have to say about what is bothering or worrying them and then to sincerely offer words of encouragement is to grow together - it is one of our proud traditions in the SGI and how we always try to inspire each other.
