anyone ever have their seed order taken by customs?

I just recent had my seeds taken by customs. I received the package with my t shirt. And the package was cut open and taped back with green us customs and border protection tape. I getting seeds were semi legal, if you were a medical patient.

Not legal by mail. I take it you also got a USDA notice, right? Contact the vendor.

No I didn't receive a USDA notice . Just my package with the t shirt ,taped back together, minus seeds. No letter Or anything with it.

Time to find a new seed vendor, there has been lots of complaints of this sort of thing with that place lately.

Dunno about "lots", but shit happens. It's people's jobs to make it happen, after all.

No USDA notice is a bit surprising, but the tape is definitive.

Like I said earlier- *Contact the vendor!*

You won't regret it.

I contacted the vendor , they want me to send an image of the package showing the tape on it. So I just sent them a pic of the package with the green tape showing in the image. Waiting to here back from them tomorrow

Seeds are only legal for us at the state level. The law offers no federal protection. We are allowed to trade/take donation on seeds as much as we want within the state. Once you order seeds from out of state you are in violation of federal law.

I really wish we had some better seed options around. We have tons of clone onlys floating around the mitten but not a lot of great genetics in seed form.

I agree, I would say the # of complaints is in the hundreds and the actual number of seizures is much higher.

I understand partisanship & loyalty to seed vendors & a lot of things, but I really don't understand how you can make that claim of hundreds of complaints about seizures from a particular vendor. All we've seen here is the occasional occurrence. If a particular vendor needs to adapt to maintain market share, they probably will.

I'm pretty sure that customs seizes thousands of things every week if not every day, with marijuana seeds just being a rather small part of it all. It's nothing personal, it's their job.

Who said the complaints were on ICMag? ;) Have you noticed we don't mention vendors by name here? Google "(vendor's name) complaints" and see for yourself...

I live in Europe, so I don't have to worry about getting my beans seized, but some people have serious Attitude problems... :)

I had the same thing happen to me once with the green tape, in europe, in a coutry where its legal with seeds.. I got my order resent, no problem. Two other times I´ve had seeds taken by custom in a country where its illegal, this resulted in a police investigation both times, both were closed due to lack of evidence

Oh, please. That Google search doesn't reveal anything like what you claim, just the same sort of random complaints we see here. The number of seed orders placed with EU vendors has to be astronomical, so some seizures & dissatisfactions are to be expected.

One of my orders was seized by US Customs. I contacted the vendor, sent pics. They apologized for the inconvenience, even though it wasn't their fault, promptly reshipped. Jody, the contact person, assured me that they'd reship as many times as necessary If I could provide photo proof of seizure.

Customer service never is an issue when things go right. It's when things go wrong that it comes into play. In that context, they did right by me in a very prompt & courteous fashion. I couldn't have reasonably expected more.

I do my homework when it comes to ordering, and none of the seedbanks I've used have let me down. Some guarantee delivery, some don't, which is just one of the factors in making a choice.

Some of the genetics I want are apparently only available thru Dutch vendors, and I suspect there's perhaps higher scrutiny at Customs than with UK mail. Accordingly, I'm waiting until Thanksgiving to order, depending on the sheer volume of mail to help ease passage. Priorities change when you're being buried alive.

Anyone who wants to know how things really stand just needs to use Google to see for themselves. There are much safer outfits to order from--certain vendors know there is a problem with their stealth packaging, but don't change things up. I'll leave it at that. If you value your safety (and don't want to get put on a list), do your homework!
