I use copper wire and coil it around young plants stem at the base. Keeps slugs off. Also use a circle of snail pellets around the plant.

Good luck.

Ok an update. Over 3 weeks since I put my ladies in there new homes. The first batch I planted are pictured in this thread. These were nearly 2 weeks ahead of the rest of the plants. Plus they had 2 full weeks after first transplanted plants to cups directly under the Eco light. I had high hopes for them as they had really come along under the Eco light as you can see from pictures.

All the rest were still in propagator and needed at least 2 weeks under the Eco light before going outside. But I had to move them as I had guests coming to stay for a few weeks and had no choice. They went out side as baby seedlings.

Would you believe it Ireland has had the best 3 weeks of summer I can ever remember. Totally unreal for Ireland.. Woohoo average temp over the 3 weeks was about 27/28 degrees with constant sunshine.

I knew I had to go up to them to water them and check them as there hasn't been any rain in 3 weeks with sun beating down on them all day long.

Good and Bad news.

Bad news is the forest plants are all gone. These were the older of all the plants as seen in pictures above. I. Don't know what happened to them but my guess is they were eaten by deer or rabbits. I found the stem just above the soil so they were not ripped from the ground, definitely eaten by something. My guess from feeling the stem was they didn't last a week. Fuck !!!!!

Any way not all was lost as the seedlings have prospered. These are the ones in the potato bags in a gorse field which is inaccessible. By the time I climb over the 2 hills to get to the field I needed oxygen and had to take a rest before tackling the gorse. I ripped off two flaps from a cardboard box and rolled them up so I could wrap them around my legs under my jeans. It worked, well a few spines got me but a small price to pay.

They have come along really nicely. I pinched off the top growth of all of them so now they will have 2 main colas each. Had success with with technique with my hydro grows. When I check them again in a couple of weeks ill do it again to two main stem on each plant.

Well that's it for now. Hope you enjoy this tread.

Update.

I went to check on my ladies today and all was well. As I said earlier I pinched the top bud from all my plants and now you can see two main buds on each plant. I took some pictures to show you the progress.

Looking good, they still alive!

Did you make some holes under the containers you're using? Else they might get root bound.

liking the gorze spot i got a similar affair on northern lat, you'll probably have to chop the GF and C99 early before mold gets them, you'll still get a nice smoke tho. The purple maroc wiould have been a good bet mate!!!

Look to me from the photos, that your plants could be missing a good few hours sun, on a morning/evening as the bushes are so close to your plants, get in there with a folding saw and get some space around em, lop of the tops too of the near ones, its good to visit your plot early morn/late afternoon and you see any offending foliage stopping sunning your girls.goodluck Frac.:ying:

I think they get most of the day time sun, but will have to check, i was a bit late starting them off and these ones that have survived were just an after thought were even later starting.

Cool grow man. You gonna dig holes to bury those girls in? I imagine you could get quite a bit more yield and lower the girls so the profile isn't as high. Win/win heh.

No I'm not going to dig holes, the ground it too rocky. I have more soil and was thinking of getting these and filling them with the pro mix and setting the grow bags on top of them with a hole cut in the bottom to give the roots more chance to spread and develop.

Cobo, I noticed your using grow bags. I really like them as well but for being gorilla you think somebody would make a drab olive, tan, camo bag. I have some that are just the bag the soil came in cut on top and the sides rolled down. Seems to work well and is cheap. But they stand out like a soar thumb. Nice grow and thread. Thanks

Growing in a similar part of the country, in the ground however in gorse. Its rocky too, there's not much soil, only 18" deep to rock, but more than one can ever carry to a spot. Theres still trees and plants growing around it right? Those roots find a way. I mounded up the soil from 25m/sq into a bed 1m x 4m. No need to lug in timber frames, the soil can be mounded up as a rounded bed. It stays there, trust me. Connect with the ground :) I just bring a few litres of worm compost to the site & try and keep the soil covered in the spots with brown mulch or cover plants like clover & comfrey. This will keep all your fertility there that you worked hard to get there in the first place. If you can find ground where the bracken, nettles or briars are growing well you're sorted. A little lime goes a long way too. After a few years growing in the same spot, the plants will get bigger and bigger if managed properly. Two to three visits in the season should be enough.

Varieties that worked well for me:
Hashplant 1 & 2 - one of my favourite highs
Erdpurt - good pain relief
Royaldane
Leb/CheesexErdpurt/Royaldane

Ones to try next year:
HFH White Super07
LBH Auto Asian Haze
Dyr & Tanska: Thyphoon Hybrids

Well here's an Update. I have been up to see my ladies twice in the last 5 / 6 weeks. When I went up to them a few weeks a go they were needing water badly so they got a good feed and they seem well now. Here's few pics from a few weeks ago

Well I was up visiting my ladies today. All is well except for one plant that seems to have suffered a bit. Anyway I did some pruning and tidying up. I brought up some bamboo canes to hold up the plants as they were bending over. 20th of Sep and they are not in bloom yet. I think I seen the first pistol but not 100% sure. By the look of them it will be Nov before i can harvest. I thought the would be in full flower by now. Hmmm
