Question for Gray Wolf on Naptha vs Butane

... i have been wondering why naptha was the suggested solvent for making 'RSO'....

I suspect the reason was that naptha is available everywhere in North America and probably the rest of the world, and it is cheap. getting your hands on a few gallons of Naptha will be no harder than sourcing a rice cooker and probably will cost less than the cooker.

getting a couple of gallons of ether is hard and expensive.

decarbing bho properly without going too far or not far enough is not easy the first time. you can see from the graph that there is a sweet spot you have to aim for.

I think he was just using old technology when he came up with his method and BHO certainly looks scary with so many horror stories.

we know for sure that they can't be accurate with their thc percentage claims because they are not removing the waxes.

RS should be commended for getting the word out there but they also continue to spread lots of misinformation. his method is easy enough that even someone who can't read has a chance at making a decent oil if they get decent herb to process.

I'd like to see RS or JB evaluate the products that Gray Wolf puts up here...

Yeah, back in the day, Rick said that he was trying to present a method that was available to most folks, not necessarily the best method.

It has also been noted that Naphtha formulas vary around the world, so the stuff he used may have been different that what is typically available locally.

His perceptions and tune may have changed since then, in the face of other agendas, but that is the way I continue to look at it.

Bless him for the awareness he engendered, but I wish he wouldn't continue to tout Naphtha as the optimum solvent.

He's probably just biased because it was his baby for so long. Just as I'm biased about the thermos method because it was my (& Jump's, Nirex's) creation. Or you with your Terpenator. No doubt we're all convinced that our inventions are the best ever. LOL

G.F Do you do your own THC/CBD Percentage testing? if so what are you using to get your results? For some reason I cant click on ur link. Also can your tell me where I can order some?

Also what tools are u using to make ur oil? i see ur lab :) jealous lol

I'm inferring GF was meant to be GW, so if it wasn't just ignore this.

Yes, we do our own testing using a GC and the results depend heavily on the product tested, but THC on recreational strains is typically in the high 80's low 90's.

We use various extraction methods in class and for our experiments, but our primary mover is BHO, using the Mk IA, II, and IIIA Terpenators, with the Mk IIIA seeing the most use.

http://skunkpharmresearch.com/ should get you to the site and glad you like our serendipitous lab. It started off in my garage and grew from there, so it was easier than you may think, as a group effort collecting pieces.

As the old saying goes, one piece at a time, but a lot of it was donations from other ooooold retired folks who got caught up in the pro bono PIF excitement and wanted to do their part.

Hee, hee, hee, lots of old farts who root for the under dog and love a good circus, but may the Great Spirit especially bless our brothers and sisters who got a warm feeling contributing their garage and basement clutter to the cause.........

Yeah, my kids were prettier and smarter than most other kids too.

My idea of the best method is still evolving, but I'm already pretty clear in many cases what isn't a good thang.

Taking cues from the perfume and essential oil industries, there are a lot of ways to skin a cat and sooo many possibilities yet untried.
