yes, even older digital cameras have some info embedded in the exif. most or possibly all of them embed the model and serial number, since the first one appeared.

if you upload any pics and want them checked i can help you with it, just say when they're up.

and here some threads about exif data, i'm sure you can learn to delete it yourself if you read a bit:

excellent! I will gladly try to figure it out on my own if I have a link to a tutorial. In the meantime, I can post pics in a private album and I will know how much/little data is there. My old pc is acting up, it does that some days where it beeps and won't work and other times works fine. I have to get a new one but a little short on cash atm. I will try it again tomorrow. My brother has an apple, but I don't know how to use that. Most of these pics exist only on the pc external drive and hard drive and the ones on the camera already deleted. In the past, I have e-mailed pics from one e-mail account to another but not sure how safe that is, but that would enable crossing the pc/mac barrier. so once either the old pc works, I get a new one, or I figure out a better transfer method between pc and mac, I will post pics. thanks again for the help!

You are really starting to worry me now. I don't take my pictures with a phone. I take my pictures with a cheap $100, 6 year old digital camera that I paid cash for. Are you saying that there's some sort of GPS that shows where the picture came from? I sure hope not.

I took this pic on my (new) iPhone 4. I sent it to my desktop computer. It's running Windows 7.
When I right-click on the pic and click 'Properties', it shows all kind of stuff, including iPhone 4, latitude, longitude, altitude, etc.

Then I uploaded this pic to ICMag. Then I save it from the web page (ie. re-downloaded it). Right-click on pic and 'Save Image As..' I just saved it to my desktop. I opened the file. When I right-click on the opened picture, I chose 'Properties'. The only information I can see is picture size, resolution, etc. Nothing identifying...

I'm not 100% certain about this, but just a little experiment! Try it for yourself!

Make sure you disable the "geo-tracking" from your cellphone AND digital camera. They both are now set to track, by default.

ok thanks for the offers of help, hold on my old pc is toast so in the process of getting a new one which will take a few days at most to select and then how ever long it takes to get to my place. I am thinking a week or so but don't know. I will post pics at that time. I have the pics on an external drive and on the old pc's hard drive. These are big bulky things almost the thickness and size of my external drive. I am assuming I can't install that as a slave drive on a new pc (thinking dell, the "save 200" one on their website)? If not, what can I do to access it now?

Is converting it to another external drive my only option? You see, there may be pics and other stuff on that internal drive that was not yet updated on the external drive. I think but not sure that the pics are all there, but I had sorted them all out into nice folders which I may or may not have saved to the external (if not I would have to resort). I will keep trying to access the old pc, but it was just beeping and restarting yesterday, and today I just barely have things pull up and when I try to click "my documents", it restarts. It keeps restarting over and over, and lately briefly displays a blue screen with some words that vanishes before I can read it. At one point, it said something about some system32 thing corrupted. I may be able to do a boot and nuke but would lose whatever's there. A mess for sure! But I will get a new pc (after over 11 years I guess it is time) and go from there. The pics will come and I will get it with windows7 as I here that has advantages over 8. peace
