Folks!
Some more budporn!

Must be said: the Dutch Passion auto's performed very good, and will yield more than initially estimated.

One Big Devil is really really resinous! A thing to pay attention to.

Concerning the autoflowers:

I was yet again surprised by the density of the buds. When trimmed, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between good indoor grown buds and these autoflowers. Really nice. Some buds formed openclusters, but the buds were all compact in density, even the sativa-looking ones. Also note almost all the autoflower made very little fluffy buds. There were a couple, but not a lot.

Also they have a nice smell. Apart form the Auto Extreme, which smells somewhat neutral/ruderalis. Could be the phenotype, we'll know in a little while when the big Auto Extremes in the big greenhouse finish (in 4-5 weeks or so).

AutoMazar smells like the real thing: Mazar!

Think Different has 2 distinct phenotypes: Melon and White/hazey

Auto Blueberry hasn't been judged yet.

The auto Mazar has the most compact nugs. (Afghani dominant)
Think Different makes thick clusterbuds (resemblance of the AK-47 (out of the AK420) background) Produces big cola's and big buds. When dealing with high temperatures, they tend to form little skunk-like flower towers. 2nd flowering is almost standard with this strain. Very nice. One could let them finish the second flowering and yield a big load of powerfull and very stony bud. Almost all resin glands are amber, the new ones are still stranslucent-on to milky. This will produce a very powerfull mix in effects.
-Note: when doing this, be sure to check extra for mold (botritis) every single day! (one rainy day will do it..)

But for the ones who like a bit more high, harvest them when 2nd flowering is about to commence. Cristals will all be milky and bits of amber.

The stems were again very big, branching was good in every strain! They are however quite sensitive to mold. Grow these auto's in a dry climate if you want to grow them outdoors. Indoor growers must maintain a RH of max 45% during the entire flowering cycle. (note: these auto's are perfect for direct 12/12 indoors!)

Enough blabla... picture time!

a quick question for chak-ra,regards growing the auto indoors,do you mean 12/12 from start to finish?

Buds buds buds... Delicious. Im also intrigued by the 12/12 method. Why would one want to use an autoflower for that?

Hey guys

Lot to do still here... Harvested the 10 Think Differents yesterday in the big greenhouse. So I've got 5 updates comming up with lot's of pics and trich/budshots.

Concerning the 12/12-method:

When done right, this method will save a grower the costs of prevegging the plants indoors. So you'll save x weeks times 6h of light (electricity) per day.
That is not the only reason I prefer this method (indoors only!). It also helps the plants form more naturally, with a higher bud-to-leafs-ratio (less leafs, more bud!). In a shorter time.

I've always grown indoors this way, never had a bad or even mediocre harvest!

A few things to keep in mind when using this method:

1)Large soil volume is important to grow bigger plants (especially indoors!).
Volume of the pots must be more than 18l per plant. I've tested this system about 5 times with more than 20 different strains. All in 11l pots. At first got plants that yielded 30-50g per pot. I got as far as 100g per 11l pot with a couple of strains.

NOTE: 2 plants per pot will yield as much as 1 plant per pot. The yield is divided amongst the plants that are together in the pots. So this is why volume for each plant matters greatly.

Imagine a 400W lamp, 4 plants, no preveg of 18h/day, 400g yield (1g/W)

2) Good air circulation.
This might mean putting in an extra fan, together with a slight over capacity extraction fan. (e.g. a 800m³ fan for a 600W light in a space 1,2m x 1,2m x 2,0m .This allows the plants to take more oxigen and CO2 from the air. Also the stems will grow fat which means better nutrient transport to the buds and side branches.

3) Genetics and soil.
First of : not all genetics are suitable for growing 12/12 from seed.
The more sativa, the bigger the plants will get in those few weeks. For example: Blueberry will get as big as 0,6 - 0,9 m ; depending on the phenotype (indica-sativa ratio expression). A Twilight (DutchPassion) -more sativa- will get as big as 1,4 - 1,8m.
NOTE: pot size helps growing bigger plants!
Second: don't try this with pure landrace sativa's. They will veg for ever under 12/12 lights (as they do in nature). If you really want to try this, it is better to start with 11/13 and progress after 3 weeks to 10/14.

Sativa dominant hybrids will be the most vigourous in the 12/12 system.

Strains tested:
- Kush
- Blueberry
- Mad Scientist (WW x Herijuana)
- Big White (PP x Chronic)
- Strawberry Cough
- Hymalaya Gold
- Santa Maria
- Colombian Gold (11/13-10/14 cycle -22Wk strain)
- Hawaiian Snow
- Super Silver Haze
- Think Different
- Twilight
- Easy Sativa
- Power Plant
- Smoke With Caution SWC (purple tops x anesthesia)
- Deep Chunk x Williams Wonder
- Trainwreck
- A.M.S.
- White Widow
- White Rhino

All went well, exept for the kush (20-25g per plant), Mad Scientist (30g per plant) and White Rhino (30g per plant). The rest was in the 50-100g per plant range.
The Hawaiian Snow and the SWC did especially well in this system. I wouldn't recommend growing the HS in any other way (from seed)

Third: Keep in mind that different genetics might ask for a different nutrient composition in the soil you use. When using 50-50 hybrids, you will want to have some extra Nitrogen in your soil and some Potassium aswell. When growing more sativa dominant strains, less Nitrogen is needed, more Phosphorus can mean a big increase in yield.
A good ratio to start with is something like 18-14-16 + MgO and Ca
I also do recommend incubating your soil 4 weeks in advance with some beneficial mycorrhizal fungi and bacteria. Keep it moist, room temp and dark those couple of weeks before you start.

4) Autoflowers 12/12

Why is this 12/12 system good for growing autoflowers?
Well, all depends on the rules above.

I would recommend the following, as I already have seen incredible results of more than 100g per auto in 10-12 weeks from planting the seeds:

- Start with the Dutch Passion strains: Think Different and Auto Blueberry in particular. Word is still out on the other 2. But I guess Auto Extreme will do just fine too (might need a couple of weeks more time though)
- Start them (sow them!) in big pots like 40-60 l (bigger is not really needed for auto's). Or you can use a big m²-box with a hight of 25-30 cm.
- Use good soil from the start , no extra nutriens or feeding required!! - this will only slow them down
- Use just water!
- Don't overwater them the first 4 weeks

- You'll see gender forming at about 14-28 days
- After 5 weeks form sprouting they will begin flowering
- They will finish within 4-6 weeks

If you think about it, this is a perfect system for a 2 tent(room) growroom. You could harvest a minimum of 600g each 4 to 6 weeks this way. It is however possible to reach up to 800g per 4/6 weeks. Which would be a hughe increase in overall yield.

So, now I'll start uploading the pictures of the Think Different by Dutch Passion. Stay tuned

STRAIN: THINK DIFFERENT by Dutch Passion

Notes:
Maximum yield for this strain was not attained due to transplanting.
It took a couple of weeks longer to finish. They were put outside for almost 3 weeks in temperatures lower than 14 degrees. So that slowed them down a lot.
Even that will not prevent several plants from yielding well over 100g dry buds.

We found 3 phenotypes in bud formation and general build up of the plant.
- A short indica phenotype with fluffy sativa buds
- A big sativa phenotype with Rock Hard indica buds
- A big sativa phenotype with AK-like bud structure and big, dense calyxes

All plants smelled like orange melon. Very intense and fruity. When smoked, flavour of Hazelnuts, chocolat and melon. Not bad I say.

total yield from one think different, very happy with that strain.

It is still warm here but we get rain now every day so harvesting the remaining ones will get tricky

I have another think different which i think can yield over 200 grams
