Strange leaf deficiency

O

OKD

My friend grew two Reserva Privida Kandy Kush plants from seed. One female and one male. The male kept having issues with leaves turning rusty, spotted and yellow.

My friend did not fertilize this plant except for some bone meal in the potting soil. I thought that this was the problem, but I have taken three clones of the male plant and they all show the same deficiency. I have just given my clones water but the lower leaves get gross and start falling off. Any ides? I was wanting to breed the two Kandy Kushes but don't want to pass along any hereditary diseases or deficiencies...

Hey man!

Just wanted to chime in on the Kandy Kush Breeding. I smoked a lot of Kandy Kush, and it is mediocre. I would strongly advise a breeding project be an F1 on both ends. Forget about Kandy Kush, Do a highly Positive Sativa, 50% with another highly Positive Indica, 50%. You can't loose.

Peace

seems to me this is Disease of some sort ... and clones were already contaminated when you took them.

dunno which disease tho'.

Thanks, good advice, SD. I was thinking the KK seeds would be F1s? IDK though...

Ya that's what I am thinking...but why didn't the female get the disease? Both were grown side by side and treated the same. Can disease be carried in the seed? And would it be carried by the pollen? I think yes and no...
Thanks again for any suggestions!

I would keep the Skunkier Lime Greenish Pheno's.

i would suggest it's a calcium issue with general under fert issues...they look they could also do with more water

good luck

DEFICIENCIES CAN BE HEREDITARY

Thanks on that -- I was wondering.

This plant looks like this no matter how much nutrients or water it gets. A friend and I have grown it independently and it looks like that no matter what!
pH is 6.4 - 6.6 for me, 7.0 usually at my friend's.
I have given it a homemade calcium supplement to no avail.

Thanks guys!

you should be looking at the new growth, the old affected growth will probably not improve. what did you use for homemade cal sup?

cool that looks good OKD...

is the new growth staying healthy or not?

are the pots allowed to dry out and get light before watering or is kept constantly wet?

Ya the plants look great until the lower set of leaves start dying off. My friend grew this plant to about 5' tall and it acted the same way. The clones I took exhibited the exact same behavior.
I normally allow pots to dry well before watering. I lift the pot to feel its weight and cultivate the soil with a chopstick to feel for dampness. I switched tactics this week and watered them whenever they got just a little bit dry.
I decided that these males aren't going to be worth the trouble and composted them last night. I can't justify using their pollen if they have been sickly since sprout.
Thanks ozzie!
