The very haze leaning (its a dead ringer for my pure purple haze) Purple Haze X Thai at 28 weeks chopped, finally! You'll notice its STILL pushing pistils but after the 6 month mark I start losing patience..

hey terpene, beautiful hazy girl you got there, I´m also a long flowering sativa lover, once had a a couple of colombians that flowered outdoor forever...seed planted in august and some fenos flowered till mid June.... and still pushing pistils, I THINK, might not be true, but based on what I have seen, some long flowering fenos dont EVER stop pushing pistils, nor get many amber trics.... I live in southern part of Brasil, so when outdoors, I can finish all sorts of strains, never had trouble with long flowering strains, so thats why I got to the conclusion that some LFS ( long flowering sativas) push pistils eaven after they are ready to chop, I guess they flower until they reveg in the wild....specially if one has not been polinated ...

but again, thats not a fact, just a little thought I had based on what I saw after growing LFS for a few consecutive years.

6 months, that's triple the patience i have..of course you need to cure it for 3 months before smoke report.

In my experience the longer the flowering the better the herb. Also the longer the curing the better the smoke with long flowering sativas(in general, there are exceptions).
I still do quick dry and taste but find a huge difference in the long cure especially when packed tight in a tin. Better high too.
It takes at least a year to be able to fully grow and judge the quality and potency in my experience with most long flowering sativas. Anything less and you are not doing them justice.
All your plants are so beautiful Terp, I bet the smoke is epic on them.
I just cut a 15 week OaxacanXPunto Rojo last night and I know it will only give muted hints after it is first dried, of how good it will be in three months after a decent cure.
That is why most people will never know, because they don't have the discipline or patience that it takes to go the whole distance and usually misjudge the long flowering sats and call it all a myth made up by the old dudes.
You can't be a sheep and follow the flock if you want to grow the really special stuff, you gotta be a little crazy.(and patient and disciplined).

Hey Randy, whats up!

sorry brow but I must disagree with you.... I don´t know how the scene is in Cali, so don´t really know the origin of seeds you guys grow, I think most of the stuff that gets to cali , is all worked up and selected, so eaven if you get a batch of seeds with many fenotype expressions, its preety much selected and you won´t see all the line offers....

I think the quality of the herb basicly depends on few factors, how it was grown, where it was grown, and genetics ... how it was grown, because novice growers tend to pick early, don´t cure correctly, and many plants don´t show thir true " bliss" if not cultivated the right way.... where it was grown, is also important because many variaties will only show all the power, in its place of origin.... an example, is some hawaiian strains, that cultivated outside the island don´t really live up to its name,..... and of course genetics....no need to explain the importance of parental stock to you good people =)

that said, I´d like to say, that in the begining of my ganja cultivar experience, I didnt have may places to buy top quality seeds, what I had was the option of buying brick weed from Paraguay and germinate the seeds, or buy huge quantities of colombian lines from a friend that was living there and knew the guys in the business....
I did both things, the beans from paraguayan brick, really impressed me, there are quite a few types of brick arround, I always go for the best.... weed is preety cheap arround my area.... in paraguayan seeds you usually see pure sativa plants, with long flowering fenos... but preety much a worked line, i´m certain some fast flowering plant was mixed in the middle due to bud structure, and high......

and there were also the colombians.... to be more specific... colombian mango ( mangobitche) colombian rojo ( punto rojo ) colombina ( la mamba ) santa martha colombian gold ( el oro ) and the ... colombian highland .....

all these were dead on sativas, with no sign at all of faster indi hybrids mixed...full on sativa divas,

man, I planted hundreds of these colombians.... and some fenos wer +20 weeks of flowering, and not all of them were good! .... I´d say most of them, were OK .... but a big percentage of them were crap brother, no resin, awfull hary buds with no beef, bland smell....preety horrible weed.... but then you find verry few of these trully blessed plants that reeeeeek sativa dankness! and make the wait wothwhile....

I doubt you will find crap plants in ACE or CBG south american sativa lines, because they come selected and stabilized, but if you buy them in bulk or get some seeds from local south american brick you´ll find some extremly long flowering sativas that are worth less then a fried egg!

sorry for writing this much just to say that there are long flowering sativas that are no good, but since english is not my first language, I try to be verry detailed in what I say so I´ll be understood!

and SOOPY ....don´t stress about it bro... is all good!

stay in peace, all the best to all growers arround the globe!

I am sure I will catch flack from the purists - but I start smoking my buds as soon as they dry and the flavor / smell is always great. Granted, I overdry them a little.

Curing does make a difference though - everything tastes better after a few weeks in a jar, provided its properly burped. (Mold can ruin everything if you don't pay attention.) Its even a little stronger, but we're talking about maybe a 10% difference here. If you're concerned about 10% - smoke another bowl.

Waiting months for cured buds though... not in my household!

Crazy - you're right, naturally occurring cannabis or ditch weed is a very hit and miss way of doing things. That's why I like Ace seeds, its always top notch and each line is so unique that I am always impressed - from different ends of the spectrum. Zamaldelica is terrifying, Pure Purple Haze is dreamy and psychedelic, Green Haze is smokeable caffeine, Pakistan Chitral is pleasant, energetic and social, etc.

The medical scene in California is interesting: clones traded through the medical scene can be infested with pests, or mislabeled (on purpose sometimes!). The legit cuts or lines people have out here are always stellar, but a lot of the same old purple / chem / diesel / og kush. I am far more interested in what the rest of the world has to offer which is why I love Ace stuff so much. I want to experience all angles of this amazing plant.

Great job, as always, Terpene! I'm sure those haze hybrids would finish a little sooner with a few more watts, but you are proving that modest watt LED grows can indeed grow fine specimens of pure sativa goodness.

I personally enjoy things with a nice cure. The Ace Hazes shine after a few months in a jar (IMO). That's not to say that I don't often get caught early on with my hands in the cookie jar.

With your long grows, I wonder if you aren't getting a fuller spectrum of active constituent production and degradation, which could mimic some time spent in jars. Much of those resin glands have been maturing on the plant for many months. I'd love to cure the samples you give me for comparison, but they are just too good not to enjoy as is.

Hola Crazyfool, I agree with a lot of what you say. I did say that was my experience in general, and there were exceptions,
And yes, I have a good source for seeds from maestro Garcia for which I am very grateful for and fortunate to have.
As far as replicating Colombia or Angola you are totally correct but I really am surprised by how really good you can do with a minimum of, space and light as I'm sure Terpine or Ur Humbl can testify. But I'm sure it would be a lot better if done in country of origin.
When I started growing if you told me I would be saying that you can grow good herb indoors with lights, I would have told you you were a Crazyfool. Hahaha

hahahaha....hey guys, Terpene....I´m with you my man, Ace has a lot of gems to offer, thats why i´going to the mail to get my Nepjam and my Malawii at this instant, like you I´m fan of exploring all the cannabis possible from arround the world, not discarding these modern hybrids...loke OG´s and chems, I belive there is a time for every herb.... I´ve got quite a collection of mother plants ... all selected by myself and a verry close circle of friends, I´ve got hashplants (Sandstorm), got some 90´s herb ( White russian and Black widow ) ... I´ve got some Bubba Kush ( Peyote purple )...I also got this verry verry top notch feno of Sensi Star ( knock you on your ass feno! ) I´ve got Brazilian Manga Rosa, Yellow, cabeça de nego and bengala ... also got some PCK x african sativas ( congo point noire and the other is a mistery, but for sure african) ..... now I´m getting some Malawii, NepJam, c99 x Blueberry ... and some old time moonshine x Indiana bubblegum .... as you can see, I like not only sativas, but hybrids and indicas as well hehe ..... and I also got my next seed order in mind, just waiting for the right moment to buy the seeds!

always a pleasure to scroll through your thread! thanks for the kind response! I´ll be arround lerning a bit more from your thread.

So after having a chance to really get into the Purple Haze x Thai - I have to say, this stuff is so close to my other 26 week Pure Purple Haze that there is practically no difference.

After sitting in a jar for a few months, the Pure Purple smells like blackberries to the max. The Purple Haze x Thai smells like blackberries with a very minor hint of sandalwood / haze / old school sativa.

Taste is the same story, slightly different flavor but unless you had them back to back, you'd never know the difference.

The high is again, the same story. My Pure Purple Haze is dreamy, clear but kinda psychedelic, it also tends to make you hungry about 30 minutes to an hour after smoking it. The Purple Haze x Thai is clearer, with more energy - but again, it's so close to my haze that they're basically interchangeable.

All of this I attribute 100% to Dubi's expertise in selection. He was looking to create a faster, more vigorous, higher yielding, less finicky plant with all the same flavors and effects and he has REALLY outdone himself, as per usual.

Terpene, I have to agree. The PHT 3b I have has a very similar profile to what you are describing above. I liken it to a fermented berry tea smell. The pure purple haze being a little more berry-ish. Effects are so similar. Floaty, psychedelic, dreamy yet still clear. Rings the bell for sure. Hope you get to try some of my 3B soon. The effects are diminished after picking out all the seeds, but I think you will enjoy it none the less.

Cali is where it all started dude. When I went to Amsterdam in 89 Skunk, Northern lights and some shwag. Was on the menu.Look ay almost any Hybrid in Amsterdam, and you'll see somewhwere Skunk #1, and Northern Lights. It's not a coinsidence that that was two of the first strains brought over from Cali. There was a lot of good hash. But to say you don;t know where Cali got it's seeds,Where do you think Haze, Skunk. NL, Blueberry, I could go on and on. Ive smoked a lot of Colombian the early 80's, and it was so so.Upper grade. But some good Oaxacan spears were better. I really don't get the Colombian trip.Thai and good Hawaiian was the shit back then till Thai sticks dried up. And anyone that lived in Cali back then knows that one didn't just drive up Humboldt way and ask for weed they won't even give you a glance. It was a very tight knit growers back then. Now their are so many Holland based US breeders, I get them mixed up. That's why I stay with ACE. It's the closest, you can get to 79.

Hi vinrusso,

Thank you very much for sharing your insights about the old sativas from the 70s and 80s. I'm glad you are finding this type of plants and effects in our genetics.

Kind regards! :)
