Brisbane

hard to say without knowing yr circumstances.

have you dependent family? what life style are you used to? do you normally work? etc ...

otherwise, cheaper than sydney or perth. probly more expensive than adelaide or melbourne.

but my experience is that it's always cheaper to live in the countryside. cost of living reduces lots not too far outside brisbane where for example, yams can be easily grown (tongue in cheek)!

cheers!

Sat X RB is on the money Robert about living in the countryside or the outskirts of the Brisbane Metropolitan areas, not sure about the cost of living there but it will be much more expensive living in the city than compared to the surrounding areas(like most places I suppose)
Weather wise it's pretty good with plenty of sunshine and plenty of beaches, babes in bikinis and waves if that's your thing :D
Hopefully someone who lives in the area or has lived there will be able to chime in and give you some more detailed information.
Are you coming for a working holiday or thinking of moving to OZ??

It looks like a great area. Almost perfect weather. You can grow anything.

I've been watching that H202 show with my daughters. It was filmed in the Brisbane area.
It's about Mermaids. It helps that Phoebe Tonkin is in the show. She is really pretty.

I've never been to Australia. I might visit... I would have to tie up some loose ends here first.

No real beaches close to Brisbane unless you count Moreton Bay beaches (no surf; a bit yuk), however great beaches an hours drive either north or south. Very expensive public transport and probably overall the 3rd most expensive city in Australia. A very conservative government has just been elected so expect cuts to services/ spending e.t.c. Brisbane is capital of QLD, which traditionally has been quite conservative. in the 70's and 80's it had a reputation as a police state, however no where near as bad now. Not weed friendly. Most who smoke keep under the radar.

It is a sub tropical climate. It can get oppressively hot and humid in summer. Expect spectacular summer storms. You can grow nearly anything but I wouldn't advise growing indica's due to the humidity. Winters are usually cool and dry. Nice sunny days.

Brisbane is close to some very spectacular coast and rainforest (within an hour or two's drive). Just South over the border (NSW) are the famous towns of Nimbin and Byron Bay. North is the Sunshine Coast (aptly named).

in any case Honorary Cobber, come over and take a look.

from what I see and hear the wonderful Land of Oz is like nowhere else in the world!

oh yeah ... we have this saying in queensland about wintertime: 'perfect one day, paradise the next'! (La Nina permitting.)

more cheers!

i'm in and out of Perth pretty regularly these days. The place is going gangbusters since the mining boom and is not a cheap place to live at all. I don't live there but have checked out the price of properties and it is very expensive.

That show was or still is I don't know was filmed on the gold coast. Which is 45 mins south of Brisbane. Its like the Hollywood of Australia was there over x mas had a great time. That good I'm planning on moving there in a few months. I reside in Perth have been for 15 yrs + I'm over this isolated boring crap hole that is WA. Don't get me wrong beautiful place, great people and weather and all ghat but once you have been there done that you pretty much have. WA stands for Wait Awhile, wait awhile before anything good happens...
