We like to build our own stuff if we can. At least I enjoy it as long as it doesnt hurt to bad .... I changed it to screen 1 plant.. I will try this first

Im glad your enjoying that Dr.. I like that pheno of BHOG too. Im flowering the largest BHOG I have ever attempted.. She was vegged a very long time. I also shape topped/fimm'ed her so she would grow like a bush with multiple cola's. She doesn't grow massive cola's like most OG's.. The really good phenos usually lack in the yield dept..

my experience with fimming has been mixed at best. i get 4 and 5 tops a few times. just as often, i get the same one top. most of the time though, i just get 2 like i would if i topped em. i've cut that damn meristem ten different places and it doesn't seem to matter much.

I have had great results fimming . I normaly get 4 somtimes I get 3...

yeah,hammer,i got it was a vert screen,what i was trying to tell you would have prevented the sides from buckling in like that....

Oh I dont think I will need it. im just holding up the branches with this instead of the bamboo poles. Thats how my plant look less at the bottom allot more at the tops. I will try it. If it works well I will make something more permanent.


I will put the plant behind the screen then pull the branches through. I will try to get all of the bud sites on the other side of the screen

hammer it works better to put the plant in front of the screen and tie it to the screen with ties of some kind, just spread them out horiz and tie

hammer i would make that 4 2x2 squares by adding 4 T pieces and a 4 way and adding cross pieces,it will be much stronger...

I accidently fim'd late once on an indoor run of affgooey, like a week or 2 into flower. the thing grew a massive top and side branch colas were bigger then average too, got 4 1/2 zones off the one plant, the rest all got about 1 1/2 - 2 a piece. This was in 1 gallon square pots in cocoa under a 600, canna nutes and fox farm adds. Never tried it again, think i went vertical after that for a while, but man was that a huge yield for that one plant.

So does GG4 like to be topped? I'm bout to take cuts this weekend of all my outdo, I like top cuts better than the lower branches. I think I'll at least run one un-topped just to see how tall it gets and how massive the main cola is regardless.

My Biesels have got me so afraid to supercrop anything ....cuz it fuk's up the budset on them so bad it ruins the final weight .... real bad !!!

Hammerhead- thought i'd show off my current vert trellis. 2 wires space ~3.5' apart and regular old trellis attached with zip ties to wires and stapled to the ceiling.

i like being able to weave stems around the strings of the trellis but will be giving JW, Marlo and Arminius' rear mounted trellises a go soon.

no I don't hammer, like I said I just spread the branches so all bud sites get light and use twist ties stolen from the ice machine down the road to hold them in place. what really makes a vert scrog produce is stacked bulbs cause no matter how you do it if your going for big yields 1 bulb wont get the bottoms enough light. if my grow room would allow it I would convert back to horiz with the gg4 but it just wont work in my grow space so I am sticking with the verts square doughnut style.

I have alwys done better in yield with vertical then horizontal. I switched for this very reason. 1 Bulb Vert vs 1 Bulb Hori the vertical would out yield for me in my setup. I have my own arrangement using 3 bulbs 1k, 600 in the middle 1k. I have my room setup to mimic the larger Vertical rooms on a smaller scale.. So far it has worked very well for me. if I use a screen and it gives me 2-4 oz more per plant thats great. If it doesn't work I will dump the screen. I will never go back to Horizontal. Quality will always be the most important to me . If I can get more quality from something so simple Oh ya im gonna give it a shot.. Thanks for the suggestion much appreciated.



I was just thinking that if the screen is just to hold up the branches. I should be able to achieve the same results with poles or a cage .. I can open the plants allot with these. From what im reading the screen does the same thing getting all of the buds into the light. Is the screen used for any other purpose?

W215 setup is what I was thinking thats why I was going to try to pull the branches through the screen..

The main reason i haven't done any vert is the summers heat , my lights have to be aircooled . & I can't see switching things around when the weather changes .
if i ever get a sealed room , i might try vert . but every set up i've had has used a lung room basicly to control the grow rooms temps .

like having a tent in a bedroom & controlling the bedrooms temps & circulating that air through the tent & the air from the lights going outside .
