Busted in the SE

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've used this forum as a resource for a good long time - but have never registered.

Sadly I do it only now because I was busted last week.

My wife and I have a dropcam at the house and noticed two black teenagers breaking in our house last week. She called me in a panic, and as I entered a panic I Ok'd her to call the cops. My mistake.

I never leave the door to the grow open - ever. But for some reason the day before I did - I thought I would be going back in later that night to take care of some things.

So I sped home knowing the cops would be searching my house and knowing they would find it. I was actually just as concerned for my dogs - as they are small dogs and the thieves obviously were not intimidated by them.

So of course the cops didn't catch the perps - but when I got home I knew the jig was up. I was promptly arrested.

Luckily the detectives that executed the search warrant were two of the coolest I had ever met. I don't want to get into too many details as I haven't even been charged yet. Obviously at the very least I'll be charged with manufacturing marijuana. The detectives however didn't put any other charges on me - but we'll see what the prosecutors decide to pick up on.

The detective even said: "I always say what someone does in their home is their business..." and "frankly I don't even think this should be illegal."

But my state is not cool with it - but luckily I live in a very high crime county and the court sees much much worse.

Anyhow I just needed to vent. I'll keep y'all updated. Got a great attorney from the NORML website I feel very good about.

i kinda decided when i started growing, well actually even before that, because i was breaking the law i could no longer involve the police in my life. however, i can understand your fear for your wife.

Yeah - we've been broken into before but found out after the fact and the grow was so hidden it was untouched. So we cooked up some bacon to hide any lingering smell and called the cops.

This time neither of us were home. I just wasn't thinking when I thought of people in my house - in broad daylight for that matter. The sad thing is even if they caught the kids I'm still facing more serious charges!

sorry to hear but you know what your mistake is... sadly in our line of work cops really cant help us.. unless in a very lenient med state....so calling them does you no good, and in your case more damage...

I understand your girl was scared but I would have never never called the police..!! I rather rushed home to try and deal with the robbers myself or just have gotten robbed and start from scratch than risk what may happen with police involved...

Oh believe me - as soon as I told her to call the cops - I called back within a few minutes and knew it was too late. I knew I was driving home to be arrested and saw my world come crumbling down.

I was speeding hoping that I could beat them there - but was too far away.

sorry to hear man... hope all goes well... sucks what happened... can't prevent teenagers from trying to rob you... could have prevented the cops coming but then you would have been worrying about your wife in potential danger...shitty situation

Yeah - as I looked into this section of the forum for many years to see what compromised other peoples security. I played by the rules and was completely under the radar (false wall build in the basement). None of my friends that came over before and after knew anything.

Though after the busy I have let a few close friends know. One, a grower, said 'Man I knew that from day one. I always recognize the sound of an exhaust fan.'

I felt so stupid as for years I made up stories to support my supply. He was cool enough to know it was an unspoken thing.

No matter how cool the detectives seem, don't trust them. Any thing you say can and will ....

Why would you call the cops with a continual criminal enterprise located at your house? If you are not in a legal state, you have to realize that calling the cops isn't an option. Period. You chose to grow, you deal with the consequences and any RANDOM occurrence. Fire in the complex from the apartment below you....busted. Domestic dispute that turns violent....busted. Car crashes through your house at 4am....busted! Burglar breaks in and your neighbors call the cops....busted. Your wife should have had a gun if she was home and scared them off, PLUS secured the grow room. If not, chalk that up to the gods. I caught 2 burglars in the basement of my house right after I moved in and shots were fired...but if I had a grow op downstairs, my response would have been much different. That was before I had 4 cameras, a TB of dvr, and burglar bars, on top of my pitbull. If someone comes in, it is what it is, but no cops will be called. If nobody is home enjoy the spoils....If I'm home....well I can't just let you go knowing there's a grow op at my house now can I......

I hate to beat the dead horse, but never call the cops for anything...there are special circumstances I guess. We all have to learn somehow, I've made my fair share of bad calls that have ended rather sorely...

Don't talk to the cops....before you know it you'll slip them a crown jewel and fuck yourself. I'm from the South, dealing with slick detectives is the worst.

Lawyer up, write down the entire dialogue of everyone you were in contact with...don't trust a NORML lawyer, think of the most fucked up rich family you know and maybe see who they use, or find one of their peers who seems to slip through the cracks

Instead of driving frantically to get home and close the hidden door, a phone call back to the wife would have been much faster.

Thats why I'm rarely gone and I have big fucking dogs (well I've always had big foul tempered dogs)!

99.999% of the time would be thieves will move on the a easier target instead of fucking with big dogs.

P.S. When I say big dogs I mean high drive 150lbs+ man stoppers, do your research and you'll find there are plenty of good breads that fit the bill. Also most of those make unfucking believable companions, I would kill for mine.
