You can soak it in water for a couple of minutes then microwave it. Not near as good and the taste is different. Much different from the final fully cured product. Tell your friends to wait. It'll get there.

If you can be patient for two days then what I do is chop the buds up into their small individual 'budlets' and leave them in the flower chamber not too far from the lightbulb, where they get plenty of warmth, constant air movement from the fans, and only mild humidity.

The result is relatively quick-dried buds (~2 days), yet buds that are still perfectly smokeable, not harsh, and not reaking of that chlorophyl taste.

I take a small bud, cut it up, spread it out on a piece of clean paper, put that paper on top of my cable box, or stereo reciever. It'll dry out overnight. If you have a vaporizer you don't need to do anything. Just break your bud up, and vape it! Vapes rock.

If you have a warm season, just put in your car for like 5 to 6 hours and presto, bone dried nice smelling mj. I usually put it in a brown paper bag in the window, no it will not smell outside.

Quick Dry: "A recipie"

Chop bud as normal,
Hang on vine,
Retreat to bedroom (w TV),
Take horse tranquilizer,
Repeat tranq as needed for the next five days to stave off awareness.
Wake and smoke.

I do not believe that there should ever be any quick drying, especially at temperature. It will not give you any indication of the quality of the meds. If I had to do a quick dry I would seal it in a box that held a dessicant (seperated from the med) which would remove the moisture without raising the temperature, and store in a cool, dry place. (replace dessicant with fresh as needed, can be de-humidified by baking in the oven)

I refuse to do the microwave method anymore...found it too nasty and wasteful...

Quickest dry I'll do is grind em up and put in my food dehydrator ($20 at harbor freight)...an hour or two and it's ready.

My normal quick dry is to plan a few days ahead, put weed on a tray on top of my radiator (tv or dvd player during summer)...1-2 days later it's dryish, then I jar it for a few hours, put back on the radiator for a day and it's good to go. 2-3 days and it really aint all that bad.

And of course, when possible I avoid the quick dry at all costs...

Man, quick-dry methods suck. I don't care how you do it, the smoke turns out harsh and green tasting.

The only way I quick dry is like said above and toss it in a dehydrator. I do this to check the high from different buds, but smoking it hurts. In my iOlite it is much better though.

Why are people complaining about the harshness and greenness of quick dried buds? Obviously it's gonna be like that... it was dried quick and got no cure. :dunno:

The third post in this thread is the way to go if you're looking for a quick dry.

a lot of cool ideas in here, the DVR one I like a lot . . .

Basically the slower you can afford to quick dry the better the final product - though none of it will rival properly dried/cured bud.

If i really want a sample but can wait 90-120 minutes, I use my oven on the lowest setting. Just put the puds in an envelope (something paper based is fine - just check it often) - like a bigger one, almost totally sealed (I leave it open a little) then I put the envelope on pizza stone or pyrex, and put my oven on the lowest setting. It usually only gets to about 170 degrees, so no risk of fire or anything, and after an hour or two i get a decent sample.

if its winter time we have a small wall heater in our shed i put it on top of the heater in a piece of foil with small toothpicks holes and that focker dries up faster than fock.. like it been sitting out for a week.. Then if its summer I leave it out in the sun.. that is what i do.. Im sure by now you have tried some things and found something that works... peace..

because its fun to smoke weed that tastes like hay!

the correct answer to "how do you quick-dry" is "you don't."

Not fun, but I would rather take a branch off one of my girls and quick dry in the rare occasion I run through my jars to fast. My stuff out of the oven/paper envelope in two hours is better than most of the stuff around me that people want $400 a zip for. Ill save my cash for equipment, but I agree its best to plan ahead. That or go perpetual always have some fresh bud around and drying, hard to run out that way.

The perfect way to take a sample is using a vaporiser, or using an enclosed metal pipe like a "bud-bomb" to vaporise rather than burn it. You can enjoy it straight off the plant that way and don't need to risk destroying it by over-drying.

The next best way is to leave it under a lightproof cover somewhere warm like the top of the grow area, remember that light degrades THC rapidly.

have a related problem so rather than starting a new thread.......

So I have a plant not ready yet but I have to leave it for an extended period. It is pretty close. The problem is I leave in less than 3 days. The other problem is I will not be able to come back for about 5 weeks.
I was thinking of flush then dark till chop in about 12 hours then cut the pre trimmed buds off the branches and into a mesh screen container attached to a fan ala this thread.....

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?threadid=4530

I don't have cheese cloth but figure mesh will do the job. However I've just seen a post on another thread who recommends leaving the buds in an paper bag in a warm car during Summer.

Really need to move fast on this so ideas are appreciated.

Onto the cure/storage. Obviously there is not time to cure so my plan is to put in Mason Jars and hope for the best in 5 weeks.

Should my thinking be different?

Unless you like mold; Don't do the 'green in jar' deal.

Get some brown paper Grocery bags and fill them loosely about 1/2 full. Roll the tops down and put them in the closet on the shelf or on the floor. Single row, no stacking. Not a perfect solution but MAY keep the mold away.

Doing it this way,it will NOT be 'cured' so much as dried.

BY the way. If you like to make edibles put the portion that will be used on cookie sheets and dry it in the oven. Make it hot enough to decarb it, then toss it into the freezer. Done. Cookies!

Decarb temp is 260* F. Take a look at this thread too.
