Feel free to chime in ;)
2 years ago I had never grown dope, so I still have plenty to learn haha!

Looks great. I've not been keeping score with the yields and wattage and all, but the setup is nice, setup is clean, things seem to always be in line for the next run, there's tons of fucking plants everywhere, ..

:woohoo:

Let me ask you, as a guy who seems to have his plants height (specifically) dialed in to his column o' wattage, ..

If you were to run a single bulb, how tall do you imagine you'd be able to generously douse with light?

It's been a long time since I ran just one, and afterward, I remember thinking "Well that's lame. I should just run a stack of two."

..but now i want to get back to one. :)

:artist:

My latest feed lines need some tweaking. Currently it's all 1/2" PVC with a 3/4 line from the pump. I want to add some 3/4" PVC up to each tee before the loop. Hopefully that allows for more pressure for the 32 basket stakes. After that it will be upgrading from a 700 gph pump to at least 900, and maybe 1200 to get the basket stakes to actually spray out if the baskets as designed.

Loving your set up! Im watching nearly everyday.

Keep it up.

For only two years you should be proud, I was nowhere near your level at 2 years.

As far as horizontal vs vertical I think vertical would have the slight edge in yield if you designed optimal setups. Different strategies would have the be employed in order to maximize the return from each setup.

Mostly what I am getting at is I think people incorrectly look at watts/sqf as some some sort of metric for light use when in reality it should be watts/cubic foot.

More specifically if you run a 50 square foot canopy that is 1 foot thick it would actually be more similar to a 25sf canopy that was 2 feet thick. This would be similar to comparing a larger sf but less thick/dense canopy of vertical to a smaller sf but thicker canopy of horizontal.

Horizontal canopies typically have more cubic feet of actual bud because buds stack vertically and NOT horizontally... meaning that you are using more sqf of a vertical canopy to spread out (train) the same amount of bud than you are in a horizontal canopy.

Its all about how you use the bulb. I think no matter which setup you use everyone should concentrate on maximizing reflection. I challenge every grower here to completely surround WHATEVER setup you have (whether vert or horizontal) and tell me that it doesn't improve yield AND quality.

Orca has completely changed the game because a huge inefficiency in horizontal growing can now be avoided. Before with mylar based reflectors you were losing so many par watts from the initial point of reflection (the reflector itself) not being able to bounce back all the light. This gave vertical an edge because you wern't losing these initial (and greater) par watts because there was nothing in between the bulb and plants.

Now with orca you are reflecting back 100% of the light which mitigates the edge to vert. So now it goes back to buds per cubic foot and given that horizontal setups are easier/cheaper to build, usually easier to operate, and in many cases (not all) take up less space I give the edge to horizontal.

Just my .02 cents but its something I have given a ton of thought to. I started out vert and then finally switched to horizontal bc I think you can get a better practical return on horizontal. If you came up with a total metric of return (quality, yield, money) on investment (time, money, difficulty, space, plants, equipment... etc...) I think horizontal wins the race now but who knows what the future holds.

Now... that being said... do whatever the hell you want! Have seen awesome vert and horizontal setups so I think its win win. At the end of the day they still produce the same thing so ya can't lose!

Marlo has a light mover rigged with a pully to raise and lower 2-600's in his room and he says that the mover cam be set to just 1 light so I think that would be a great alternative to having multiple lights in one column. Thus reducing energy cost as well as lowering room temps by not having the extra light.

Been super busy, and Tapatalk decided not to work, which accounts for 90% of my forum time...
I picked up a new camera with 14mp, and a good white ballance setting. I have a bunch of really good photos to share...

Tapatalk made it real easy to upload photos. Trying to set it up so that my tablet can pull photos from my computer via wifi, then should be able to upload...

I have only dabbled with the vape pens, but I do have experience with e-cigs.
In my experience, if your concentrates are in liquid form, then it's either unpurged, or mixed with something like glycerin.
What I have wanted to do is make an e-cig like juice that can be dripped into the cartridge. There are recipes using food grade glycerin that you can get at the drug store.

Arm- it's not the seal at the top, it's where the handles are welded to the pot. those rivets weren't perfect when i got mine, i noticed the smallest leak while under vac.

$30 at a local welding shop to fix it. but if you're happy with how it's working now, why fix what ain't *apparently* broke. :)

and i'm far from a wax guru or anything, but i'm not sure 100f would be enough to fully purge all the B out. i really wanna see/hear about the results if you end up getting some lab tested... i never did.

i'm running my last few pounds now and throwing away all my equipment... these manufacturing charges are no joke.

Mister_D- it's all about getting it stable at higher temps. the vacuum will let you achieve this... by vaccing under a higher temp (than room temp) the BHO will stay solid and not stick to your fingers... i've held a 30g slab in my fingers, in the sun, on a 100f day and it kept its original taffy/shatter consistency. i've left honeycomb wax closer to what Arm is making above in my car 120f+ and it doesn't change at all. stable stable stable.

Thanks gentleman, sounds like I need to improve the purge. Perhaps i'll grab one of these spiffy new vac's for myself :tiphat:.

OG Kush x UK Cheese at 35 days!

OG Kush x UK Cheese at 35 days!

Slowly uploading photos the old way, damn Tapatalk for not working...
I knew I was pushing my luck, and not getting these bitches tied up a week ago. This morning I opened the room to tops flopping over at 35 days! I lost 3 tops to burn, but this run should be a winner either way.
I need to put in another few hours tomorrow to get the rest of them trained, but for now I just raised the lights until tomorrow.

Fully trained and pruned.

Back to back. Considering just doing a single plant at these locations, with maybe #3 smart pots.

Still have a lot of training and pruning to do tomorrow...

Its a cross that was made by some locals in my area. It is supposed to be OG Kush crossed with UK Cheese. It was tested at almost 26% combined THC by another grower here, and I will be testing mine when its done in another 3 weeks.
