the last 2 leaflets point straight down like hooks

leaves pointing down are generally a sign of flushing...

Nitrogen toxicity presents itself with more of a claw type thing than leaves pointing downards

to be honest I'm not understanding the difference between the tips of leaflets being curled and pointing straight down like hooks and a "claw type thing'. They seem like a very similar description to me.

over watering is what causes the leaves to droop downward. That does happen sometimes during flushing but they don't seem to be over watered and I don't see why you would be flushing a plant so young.

I'm sticking with my original guess and saying you probably have a sativa that is a bit touchy with the N. Very common.

As far as what the genetics are, it is virtually impossible to guess what a strain is unless it is a somewhat pure breed and left to grow naturally. For instance you can tell a Colombian from an African based on growth structures. But if its a sativa hybrid that you top and train there really isn't anyone out there who could give you a credible answer to that. Just too many strains, too many phenotypes, and too many hybrids out there to give a credible guess.

Homebrewer you grow some delicious looking buds. Every time I see one of your grows I get an appetite.
Bigherb, Thanks for the compliments.I did keep cuts of the two I first cut, but they are not the best out of this batch, although they are worth another run to check out thoroughly. The ones I like most are still blooming. They have some real interesting indescribable flavors of herbs and fruit and spice with a very potent high, very euphoric. I really need to let them finish and then dry them properly and cure for at least a couple of weeks before I start passing judgment on them but I love them so much already it'll be hard to follow through. I just want to keep cutting, quick drying, and smoking them. I just harvested 4kw of OG and all I want to smoke is quick dried larf from the lower branches of these sativas, that's gotta say something.

Here's the one I like and it's just about finished at 12 weeks. The other two still have at least a couple of weeks more to go.

I was looking through some of my stash buds that I had put into some of those airseal bags and found some Ace Old Timers Haze I grew probably over a year ago. I remember keeping this because of the aroma that was an almost overwhelming exotic citrus.
I burnt a fat one and the buzz was a full on edgy with an extended up. Memories of circa 1974 whenever my boy had some special flooded in with every draw.
You pups that have never experienced a full on sativa heavy hitter must do so or I fear you miss out on some of the best experiences ganja has to offer.
Head bud in that shot is prolly 5gm or so. All foxtailed structure. Shit would have been prettier if it hadn't been all squeezed up in that airtight bag.
I love finding stuff I'd forgotten about!
* went back and looked at notes...this plant went 19 weeks

Alot of trimming to do before smoking that oldtimers... But it must be heavenly in taste, and a 19 weeker should play very nice around with your brain :-D Did it still got the taste after a year in the sealed bag ?

There are still the terpines in the resin to bring about its natural cured aroma, a small squeeze does it.
As far as trim..I don't trim much on my full on sativas. They usually have very small trics and close inspection will show them all the way down to the tips of the sugar leaves. I think leaving a good bit of leaf adds to the character of the smoke too...but that's just moi.

i have tons of experience with "over".

the difference is that with nitrogen toxicity "The Claw" the individual leaflets/fingers curl down together as a group.

with overwatering most of the curling is done in the leaf stem itself.

shitty pics ahead.

the claw beginning. notice the leaf tips.

picture.php

over watering. notice the leaf stems. and the way the leaves look "plump"

picture.php

this last one has a little of both going on, but it's mostly due to the too much water, aka not enough oxygen and too cold roots.

just saw in a thread that Knagativa was arrested.............fucking archaic laws.

the thread will not be quite the same for my viewing pleasure w/o such a talented grower showing us all how sativas should be grown..

Had my fair share of the claw with some purple haze/Thai. Ended up taking some cuttings and giving them to my brother in law. Not able to give those monsters the space they need, but I made sure to tell him not to add any fertilizer to the mix unless the plants asked for it. Another reason I love those hardcore sativas. Probably the best things to grow in a nice organic mix because they don't need much else.

And about those OTHaze, I'd smoke them just like that.Trimming off the leaf of such a foxtaily sativa is more work than its worth.

KERALA x SKUNK#1

Here is a photo of Kerala x Skunk#1. 8 ft. tall. Grown from seed in the U.S. She has been topped once, otherwise she would have had the typical christmas tree structure.

Notice to folks who may have received these beans as freebies through Herbies: Although they are labelled as regular seeds all 5 of my freebies were female. I suspect most if not all will be.
